I have the Gazetteer PDF- and now I can die!

Lost Omens Products

It's out people!

What a glorious day this has been for me! Things going great on many levels and this was just the cherry on the metaphoric ice cream sundae.

It's hard to give first impressions at work right now, but it looks awesome.

Lots of text, so it's a little light on art (we've seen a lot of it already in previews). Don't take that as a complaint on my part, I think the art/text ration is correct for this book's objectives.

Front inside cover has some nice new color versions of the symbols of the Gods.

There is a comprehensive timeline.

The country write-ups remind me of the original Greyhawk Gazetteer (but for a better impression, the country write-ups have been previewed before on the blog).

I can't wait to read this at home!

I also have the PDF, so I'm good as well. I've browsed through it quickly and I'm very happy with what I'm seeing. Good work! :)

I am still digesting it, but loving it all of it (I really hope AP 4 takes place in Mendev, I'm really psyched about that area). My only grip is that there's no world map to see where the nations are in relation to one another :(

Mine's still in the post! Grr!

Another "Where the heck is the map?!?" question from me here, too. All I have right now is a cruddy low-res jpg that was posted somewhere on the boards a long time ago. Seriously bad, though. Can't even read city names... assuming you blow it up large enough to see where the dots are in the first place.

Well I just had the updated version with the map (nice, big enough) , thank you Paizo... Ideas are still poping in my head and it's been three days yet?
On the subject of maps, with campaign setting, do you plan to do an interactive map which will allow that clicking on one location on the map sends the reader at the corresponding chapter ?

Liberty's Edge

Yay updated version! I'm happy now. Still hoping for the 4th AP to be in Mendev ^_^

I downloaded the PDF last night, and spent most of the evening reading it. This is exactly what I'd hoped for. Ex-Freaking-Zactly. High fluff and flavor, low crunch. Very portable to other (*cough*Savage*Worlds*) systems. Between the Monsters Revisited and the Gazetteer, color me hyper-impressed with this latest batch of Pathfinder products.

And the content itself is out of this world. Age of Lost Omens? The Worldwound? The Eye? Geb and Nex? The tie-ins to familiar RW cultures and histories, not to mention Greyhawk parallels? I kept reading, thinking, "Brilliant. Thats awesome. It couldn't be any better." only to be proven wrong on the next page.

The PDF is great, but I can't wait to see the print copy in my grubby little hands. Man, I'm glad I subscribed. Sooooooooo glad. Me == happy.

I am also blown away by the quality of the Gazetteer. Great work, guys... really great.

Just one minor squibble with the poster map. Falcon's Hollow is placed IN the forest of the Darkmoon Vale on the map, not south of it on the shores of the river Foam in the modules.

Which version is correct?

That is an error we hope to correct for the hardcover. Falcon's Hollow is south of the woods, not in it.

Sweet! This is just what I was hoping it would be. Waiting on my copy in the mail. Grrrrr......why didn't I subscribe?!?!? I could have the pdf by now.....

SavageRobby, we may have to start work on converting the whole works to SW. You interested?

Of course. :)

So as not to threadjack, I'm going to post my response back over in the Savage Pathfinder thread.

I have been reading over the Gazetteer and all I can say is.. WOW!

There is only one minor concern that I did not see or it escaped my view. This would be through the mentioning of the Human variants I did not see the Shoanti. They get a brief nod in the Varisia write up but not much else.

My only question is really what would their racial make up be?

Spoiler:
I always thought they were the same people as the Varisians but trained for war, while the people known as Varisians were skilled tradesman and laborers fron the Thalossian Empire. At least I vaguely remember reading this in the RotRL AP.

Thanks, and great job Paizo!

The Shoanti aren't an ethnicity and don't extend beyond the borders of Varisia, thus they get no love.

Posted my review.

Hot, sexy stuff guys! Well done!

*goes off to drool some more on her precious*

I got my hands on it! In a word - AWESOME! So much so, that my wife and I immediately ordered 2 for our friends and started planning our next campaign! I'm gonna open out the map and read it again later, putting the countries in relation to each other.

It was quite hard to read though, and I had to keep stopping as the book was making my mind bubble over with ideas and I wasn't taking in what I was reading. :)

Well done! I'm put off of typing a review, given my past experiences trying to get that thing to work, but ***** stars! I want more stuff about the other planets and I want it now!

Yours excitedly

There is a hardcover expected? Is this a typo or should I wait to buy until my preferred format comes along?

Yes.

You know the irony of this thread...

:(

I never actually got my Gazetteer. Mine got caught up in the Warehouse fiasco too. Got the PDF though. :)

The irony just hit me.

Yeah, happened to me as well. Though it's really making me realize how little I actually do use the actual books and how much more I use the PDFs.

Yes.

For clarity, the hardcover campaign setting Mike linked to is not just a hardcover version of the Gazetteer. The Gazetteer is only available in softcover and PDF forms.

If I order Chronicle products individually, why I can't I get a pdf download for each book like I do with my Pathfinder subscription?

Because free PDFs are a subscriber benefit.

However, as a Pathfinder subscriber, you do get the Pathfinder Advantage discount of 15% off of MSRP should you choose to buy them separately.

I just downloaded this 5 minutes ago, and now I'm touching myself in weird places...

Damn you Paizo!

I would never do that - especially now that I finally have something worth looking at.

Thank You, Paizo, for bringing back that feeling I got when I used to get a new boxed campaign set.

You know, I never thought about it quite that way, but yeah. Exact same feeling.

Now, if Paizo could put together a Player's Prepack and a GM's Prepack sets...Sah-weet!

so you don't think you'll get that feeling with the FRCS?

Honestly, no. Wizards destroyed a beloved campaign setting, for what? Because it has to work with the rules? Well Eberron isn't getting blown up and it can work with the rules. Why can't FR. To much history? Why no focus on a different continent. Only select history will be important. There Dragonborn and Tieflings can be big and gnomes be unimportant.

IMO their reasons are paper thin excuse to take the easy way out. I'd actually have more respect if they just said they were doing it this way because its easier.
