Same here - I was going to use it for my fortnightly Savage Tide game - for the sea voyage. The PCs have completed that, and the next bit, and are almost done with Tides of Dread. With a bit of luck I can use the higher level stuff - otherwise I'll use it another time. The ideas in it will spice up my adventures for years to come though.

Plus we can tease Nick mercilessly and lay a 15 month guilt trip on him, which is good for the occasional teaser or other goodie. The extra Grauls were wicked, for example.

I was optimistic for the pdf this year, until Nick developed the plague, pneumonia and a spleen infection. He seems to be allergic to Good Old Blighty.

Wrong nick, I knew I shouldn't have gotten my spells from that street vendor. The watch is nice though.

Nick, I did appreciate the advance peek, and I love your descriptions. I can't wait to see the finished product. :)

Extra Grauls? Where? I have an estimated APL 15 to brutalize post-CoT with the Graul clan, and more hillbilly mutant mayhem is awesome.

Stuff that was cut from the adventure because it was too horrible ;-)

Check your mail, mate!

EDIT: O good grief, I read it again. I don't know whether to laugh manically or cry in sympathy for your PCs. O Lordy, not the post-holer!

'Specially since these Grauls are written as CR 8 - 14, depending on the Graul, with my 'special touch'.

^_^ The 'special sauce' is what the Grauls liberally apply just before ... chowing down, shall we say.

I have no inside info on product release, but here's a 'cast in which Nick explains his own inner process for GMing and tells us a bit of what he's up to of late. Really interesting and enlightening interview sez me, the interviewer. The dude is fascinating.

I had a head cold. Bears mentioning. ;)

Hey guys!

Sorry for the silence! I'm putting updates on my site, but I haven't been skulking around my favorite old haunt here at Paizo for a bit!

Quick update: I am feeling much better, I kicked bronchitis and it kicked me, but we've finally put it all behind us! ;-)

Sadly, my wife sustained a head injury on Friday and I lost my weekend looking after her and going in and out of A&E (that's Brit for "Emergency Room"). She has a concussion, but she's feeling a little better now.

It shakes out to me losing a weekend of Sinister work though (that's my prime time for chipping away at projects). Just to keep you all updated.

I've gotten to follow up with my cartographer and we are closer to getting our last few maps for RC, and things are looking firmer on a January release.

I did lose some time I intended to bring to bear on the next wave of Indulgences though, so we're behind a bit now there. Also, I lost the time I was going to use to finalize some blog posts for Sinister Minds and Sneak Peeks - expect to see them next weekend though!

Sorry for the delays!

Nick

You wouldn't have an EXACT date when the new Indulgences will be on sale? I need my fix, Nick. Don't hold out on me.

Yes, January for RC, so we can expect the Anarchist GM book sometime in in 2012? ;)

OK, not to be a pain in the tail about this but we're at the top of January 2010. How's everything coming along?

last post I seen about it was he was waiting on the last two maps before he could finish layout. I assume once that is done it will go into final edit and hopefully from their off to print. So depending how long it takes for the final two maps to show up I would assume at least a month from that point before it goes to print at soonest. PDF's might be sooner than that but I wouldn't hold my breath.

He hasn't said that I know of, but I would be very surprised if it is not 3.5e or PFRPG one or the other.

yeah. there's no way it would be savage worlds. it's way too little time to learn a new system (no matter how simple it is).

How's it going Nick? Happy New Year!

Last I heard he was going offer it to those of us who pre-ordered in our choice of 3.5 or Pathfinder as he finds he likes Pathfinder.

OK, Nick, it's almost February 2010, how's Razor Coast coming along?

That's right Lords and Ladies of Paizo.

I've launched my own publishing studio, nothing gigantic, but we're scrappy, and we don't disappoint. Come check us out. We've got adventures and articles by Greg A. Vaughan, Wolfgang Baur, Craig Shackleton and myself for sale right now here:

Indulgences

Pick up an adventure by Greg Vaughan for $3. That's also not an April Fools' Joke...I'm just an April Fool!

Get an article on adventuring under the sea by Wolfgang, or one on the dueling arts in D&D by Rambling Scribe, both for a $1.50.

Come snag a Core Beliefs style article on an all new deity - an ancient Shark God of slaughter newly re-risen from the deeps, for $2.

Or read a little bit amount the DARK VISTAS, the main event yet to come.

Or just drop by and check out the Game Designer Blog

Or listen to our official podcast DARK WHISPERS

Let the madness begin!

Crap, you beat me on this obvious joke, which I just made in another thread.

I hope not but it sure looks like it.

Personally, I wish Nick would have given LPJ's offer a second glance.

Well I risked it and "pre-ordered" the rest of the products on the site (that I hadn't already done that for).

Hopefully I'm just slipping under the last minute pre-order deadline and not adding myself into the infinite waiting line.

which offer?

LPJ offered to buy out the content and then sell it himself (or something along those lines).

That sounds interesting... Thou I'd love to see it coming from Sinister's hands, if that means more months of delay, then the LPJ offer should be considered...

This

Oh, I missed that. I think LPJ offer was good but I ubnderstand why Nick wouldn't. Anyway it was a good "bump" and I hope Nick gets down to it fast(er). My only happy thought about preordering RC is that the Euro is so much more expensive now, that I'm glad I did bought it back then :)

Though personally I do believe that Nick will get it out.

Its just so much work when their is so few. I completely understand that...

I am most of the way through rewriting the entire Player's Handbook/Game Masters Handbook and Monster Manual (based off of the OGL) to make the system I wanted to play. Way more work then I had originally imagined, especially for one person. If I had know when I had started...

Curiosity piqued. Elaborate? Different thread if you must.

Spoiler:
I went through and:

• rewrote the item creation rules
• redid item pricing and item lists
• made Hit Points static (non levelling)
• added armour as DR
• added BDB (Base Defence Bonus) to mirror BAB (Base Attack Bonus)
• added spell armour (armour that lowers the Caster Level of incoming spells)
• rebalanced weapon and magic damage
• added, rewrote and combined some skills
• added in a specialty magic item (magic tattoos) that could give you some magic item effects or allow you to channel effects (flaming, frost, etc) through masterwork weaponry
• rewrote some of the classes (mainly sorcerers and bards with tweaking of others and removed monks)
• edited (clarified, removed and added) spells
• added MIR feats (magic item replacement) to reduce need/reliance on magic items
• added more options to multiclassing (like channelling spells through weapons)
• redid the iterative attacks (instead of +0/-5/-10/-15 Etc it is +0, -3/-3, -6/-6/-6, etc)
• added combat differences for using two weapons, one weapon, weapon and shield and two-handed weapon
• added that the ability to attempt to multicast in one round (or cast and attack, cast and run, etc)
• added fate points (allows you to cheat death, add plot points, etc… you know effect your fate)
• added alternative experience gathering methods (challenge, character goal and story)
• added emergency manoeuvres (a last second save that if successful increases your DR temporarily but interferes with your actions the next round (whether the save succeeds or not))
• Changed the race stats and types (no half orcs but added orcs)
• Made different gods grant different priestly bonuses to their followers
• Rewrote turning checks
• Changed it from d20 to 2d10 (to allow for a bell curve of 2-20 instead of an even chance of 1-20) which helps a lot with setting DCs and things

I’m sure there was more changes I made but I can’t think of them off the top of my head. Generally I tried to make things more concise and more sword and sorcery feel. Everything is more lethal which is balanced by the armour as DR, spell armour and fate points. So far my players like it and so do I.

But when it comes out it's the highest quality around (at least from the preview we got of Razor Coast and the Indulgences).

That's the hope at least.

I don't want to drag out the Summon Nick ritual but I'd love to know what his time table is right now on this and the GM book I also pre-ordered.

Lou Agresta has taken over editing RC and is in full swing now. You can read more about it on the Sinister Forum.

Maybe I need to start testing the Nicks. It involves a flame thrower.

I know the real Nick would laugh be annoyed at his singed clothes. Fake Nicks usually become blackened and crispy.

I don't want to be a pest, but what's the latest news on Razor Coast and the GM book you talked about in the recent past? You said something to some podcast I listen to, I think about the Anarchist GM's Cookbook or some thing to that effect. I'm looking forward to both. but I've been waiting on Razor Coast a bit longer. I was shopping in a Dollar Store not too long ago and Pele showed me that she was thinking of me by letting me find some music CDs for cheap to honor her. But I'm a Pagan who appreciates all deities and certain Goddess like Pele more than others. I understand she figures somewhat in the plot line of Razor Coast. So I think she might be somewhat interested if nothing else; so how's it coming?

As per the 17th...

Lou wrote:

Ok, here's the latest update. Still composed of good and bad news, I regret to report. However, more good than bad...

The Bad News
------------
1. I discovered a versioning error with the first 3 chapters. They were missing intermittent revisions of content, which means I had to pull them from layout.
2. I don't yet have the final maps.
3. I found a few missing stat blocks, a template, and some mechanics changes that needed doing.

The Good News
-------------
1. The versioning problem in the intro and chapters 1, 2, & 3 has been corrected. I gave them another editorial pass. And all 4 of these documents are now in the proofing pipeline. Some are even back.
2. I'm in touch with the cartographer, who is merrily cartographing on last maps. I expect a map update this week.
3. All requested stat block and mechanics changes to the chapters 1, 2 and the appendix are done and in my hands. I'm in back-and-forth with the stat master on chapter 3.
3. Chapter 4 of 5 is in (re) editing.
4. I've reached out for our Pathfinderizing team. I plan to ship completed files to layout and the pathfinder team at the same time. With luck, as RC hits your hands (or computers), the Pathfinder version will be hitting layout. Keep your fingers crossed for that.

Last but not least, I saw this new picture of Bethany Razor firing pistols. It'll appear in chapter 5 for sure. Hotness.
