If I remember correctly, Pathfinder Companion is destined to be player-friendly material. So Paizo has four major product lines, I believe:
Pathfinder:
Adventure Paths, for GMs with a few articles that may be player friendly.
Pathfinder Chronicles:
Information on the setting of Golarion, generally very useful for DMs, but might still be somewhat good for players, such as the Guide to Korvosa, which is mostly player-friendly.
Pathfinder Modules:
One-shot adventures. Needless to say, GMs only.
Pathfinder Companion:
As far as I know, these contain player resources for the current adventure path.
That's what I've got, hope it was helpful!

Close. Pathfinder Companion will be a bi-monthly, 32-page resource that is both GM- and player-friendly. Twice a year, it'll most likely focus on the current Adventure Path, but other Companions will cover topics and themes like "Elves of Golarion" or "Darklands" or "Thieves Guilds of Golarion" and so on.
Companions will have a lot of crunch--a lot more crunch compared to, say, the Guide to Korvosa, which is from the Pathfinder Chronicles line and is more geared toward flavor.
