This is my petition to add "Gygax, Lord of Games" to the Golarion Deities.
Alignment: NG

Domains: Community, Glory, Knowledge, Luck and Trickery

The things that describe good gaming and the camaraderie of Role-playing games.

I would go along with that but wonder how his family would feel about it.
I do find it fitting however.

here here, maybe CN and the diety of adventurers, and thrill seekers, good either way^^

The Exchange

This is sad yet satisfying. I do agree that he would CN though. Stupid sphere of anihilation in the statue.

yeah CN he would so be

Chaotic Neutral for the man who invented the rules by which we play this game? How in the WORLD does that make sense?

See fliprushman's post and you will understand.

I can't buy the chaotic argument either. See the 1e DMG. It'd make a modron say "you know, that's just a few too many tables."

guys it was a joke the sphere was random death. so it was funny we kinda ran with it.

I chose NG since it take law to build rules, but luck is a fickle lass...

Gygax already wrote himself in as a self-insertion god.

Zagyg's wiki

And he's CN. So there's a basis for the Lord of Gaming to be CN. Or even pure neutral. After all, the dice land where they may.

Perhaps change Gygax into Agyx, Xagyg ... I don't like to use the real name. (see Vance and Vecna )

Having something like that as canon is missing the point. You can homerule him in as a deity if you want to. That is a more fitting tribute, and it allows those of us who do not want real world stuff in our setting to keep our consistent mythos.

So do it yourself and don't inflict thinly veiled tribute gods on the rest of us. I like the deities of Golarion as is. More of them is not something I look forward to. The hundreds of indistinguishable gods of Toril and Oerth are appalling to me. Having a well developed and small pantheon that can get depth instead of breadth in their detail is a good thing.

Yes. I hate this hundred god unmemorisable ! The eberoon idea it's good : give an adjective or a common word as a god's name : The Keeper, the shadow, the silver flame ...

The roman and the greek have the same god, with different name.
And i'm sure there is equivalent between egyptian
, babylonian, greek ... gods.

Sovereign Court

Meh... this is a silly idea. Homerule it if you want.
He has all the tribute he ever wanted. The game lives on.

Yeah, the Golarion deities are completely free of real-life influence. No real world stuff to be found here. Entirely free and clear, boy howdy.

(Note that I'm not saying it's a bad thing. Just that it's silly to say there's no real world stuff in the Golarion pantheon.

And also expressing a bit of irritation at calling the Oerthian deities interchangeable. >:)

This is my first anniversary of posting on the Paizo boards.
I first posted to comment on the April Fool's Hijinks on that day.

Appropriate, and warranted. With families permission of course. Better hurry before WotC does it first!

I agree... the man was, if anything, LN.

Chuck Norris has read everything Gary Gygax has written, and likes it all.

Doesn't. Since it's chaotic, that fits.

Chaos rules. It just trumps all.

Signed.

Why not?

I'll climb on the wagon.

Consider me signed, as I've already added him as such in my homebrews anyway.

The mayor of Absalom is already an homage to Gary, and I think we'll leave it at that for a while.

I'll just wear the Ring of Gaxx in memorium.

Didn't know that. That's cool!

Nor did I. But a interesting tidbit.
