heh, thats one thing the PF/D&D video games help me keep track of in turn by turn combat,
If you move, you cannot do a full attack,
)In most of the video games, if you move more than half movement, you cannot attack at all. Which is weird because I never remember reading that rule for any edition.) :P

So, knowing how these adventures work, and just based on the sure amount of secret melding of the gods, Karrin is assuming that Erehe is inside of the besieged house of Tormtor, and the group's guides might be able to get them inside. However Karrin is thinking here that it's best that their guides come up with the idea of sneaking them inside their base and not the other way around, as sneaking heroes into their base is probably something that'd be frowned upon, and it's best not to appear too eager for that sort of thing especially when there's already a siege on.
Always best in this situation to appear dumb and easily manipulated
Ragadolf |
Oi, Yep. i KNEW it wasn't gonna be THAT easy! :P
Yeah,... dollars to doughnuts that our erstwhile wizzie is deep in the Lower Vaults. Held by the Tormtor besiegers, who will NOT likely look favorably on unscheduled visits by above-worlder-nosey-adventurer-types.
In OTHER words,...
It's a typical day in the life of the Silver Rose Crew! ;)

According to D20pfsrd, Keen doubles the crit range,... so if a bastard sword is 19-20 normally (2 numbers) would it not make it 17-20 with keen? (4 numbers)?
This could be me getting RAW confused with house rules (or a different system altogether), but in a lot of previous games I've played in, the way it worked was that "doubles threat range" wording assumed normal critical range (i.e. 20), but after that it went up in increments of 1. If that's not how you're doing it, though, that's OK.
Ragadolf |
LOL, Oh I'M no expert,
I still keep getting confused between 3.x and PF. (ALL the time) ;P
Which is why I phrased it in the form of a question. :)
My understanding of RAW (or even RAI) is Keen doubles the crit threat range of the weapon it is applied to. So if I'm right, A 'normal' weapon with a base crit threat range of 20 would double to 19-20. A weapon that already has a crit range of 2 digits, (bastard sword, 19-20) would double it's crit range, so, 17-20.
Yes? No? maybe? ;P
Ragadolf |
So,.. OOC, what DO we have that may interest Erehe or Verdaeth??
Justin is beginning to suspect (Alright, he's a TEENSY bit slow sometimes) that this rod he's been carrying around for a while now is part of something much larger, (namely the the thing that activates the foreboding monstrous device mentioned in one of the books they researched) SO there is NO way he's handing them THAT. ;P
What else have we got to interest him?
Storyteller Shadow |
Dude. Did I not just hand you a MacGuffin on a silver platter?
Also, maybe the fact that Tenebrous and his spooky demon ghost minions might be coming for him?
I need a drink
I was thinking that as well but was not sure we would want to give it up without a discussion first! The problem was that I was thinking it NOT Hamar ;-)
Storyteller Shadow |
Oh, and I'm not sure if you are playing Hamar up, but he has met the demon ghosts before. When you rescued Blayze and also in Tcian Sumere.
That was a Shadow brain fart... ;-(

Oh, something just occurred to me . . . Loth hasn't gotten involved in this dispute right? Even thought the besieging side is worshiping some other god, Kiransalee, but Loth, as far as we know, is the one that helped seal this magical artifact away (I know what it is because I know some of the D&D lore, but I'm not sure if Karrin and the rest of the group know what we're after or not). So I'm just thinking that Loth might be staying out of this conflict because she's not interested in killing this only source of information about the item, but the moment we restore that knowledge all bets are off . . .
Ragadolf |
So many posts... My brain hurts.
LOL!
Monty Python, good for SO many references,... ;)
Ragadolf |
Lolth didn't seal the artifact away. Lolth really has nothing to do with this adventure, other than featuring a cool transition.
Oh thank goodness!
I like to think that we have enough trouble staying off of the Lady of Pains radar with our shenanigans, I didn't really want to mess with Lolth! (not if we could avoid it anyway) ;P

Are you talking about this quote?
But first....
As the two touch ground there is a faint hissing noise. A green sparkling mist starts venting from the huge sarcophagus, exiting from the nostril's and mouth of the carven face. The mist doesn't spread out, rather it seems to keep collected and it shoots upwards into the tunnel the two just emerged from.
Outside the rest of the party prepare to follow the two into the tunnel when a green mist erupts out of it. Stunned, the party watches as the mist whirls together , forming a column of green that coalesces into a giant form. A four-meter-tall being, wrapped head to toe in rune-covered wrappings. It wears a golden breastplate over the wrappings and an armored kilt. Clutched in its wrapped hands is a triple-chained morning star. Each chain is topped with a spike-festooned skull. One skull is wrapped in fire, one in electricity, one in a nimbus of frost. Glowing red eyes blaze At the party, and curling Rams horns bracket its head, the only part of it not wrapped in runic linen. It roars in a deep male voice
WHO DARES PROFANE THE TEMPLE OF MY LORD AND MASTER ....
The giant chokes in mid-rant. If a huge demonic mummy could look perplexed, this guy was doing it
WHAT MANNER OF SORCERY IS THIS? YOU INSECTS HAVE MADE ME FORGET MY MASTER'S NAME? THAKHOTIS WILL EAT YOUR JELLIED BRAINS FOR THAT INSULT!
Roll initiative!.

Keen Edge spell lays out the details of improved threat range. It is an actual doubling of the range not just +1
"This spell makes a weapon magically keen, improving its ability to deal telling blows. This transmutation doubles the threat range of the weapon. A threat range of 20 becomes 19-20, a threat range of 19-20 becomes 17-20, and a threat range of 18-20 becomes 15-20."

"Arminio! You are needed!"
A shifty-eyed rogue appears from the shadowed tables in the far corners of the room. He is a deep gnome, a Svirfneblin, like Vilgo, but a much leaner version. He nods to Vilgo and looks at the party
"I'm ready to take yez."

OK,... That's cool and all, (It actually is, I'm not a BIG buff but I do like history. Now. I didn't in school.) ;P
But what I wanna know is, did you have to google the name? Or did you KNOW that already?!? O_o

Hey it happens. Sometimes I think everyone gets my dialog, but it’s all a giant game of telephone. Add in assumptions and suddenly you are drawing the wrong conclusions.
The tunnel is merely a way out of the city that is not the gate. The house hides the other end of it. It is a smugglers tunnel. Once you are out you are on your own.
