Moving is cool, usually,...

OK, I personally HATE moving, (I am a packrat and I own WAY too much STUFF) but it is usually because of moving onward & hopefully upwards, so yay? :)

Have fun(?) and be safe!

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Apologies for the delay. I’m going to craft a map tonight and pop this bad boy off. There will be two maps- a larger landscape and a battle map. The larger landscape can be for setting up your approach

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Ok, photobucket has decided to put its share function behind a paywall. So, I’m going to try an alternate method. I have google photos, and I have made a gaming folder. If everyone could give me an email address at spamreef [at] hotmail (dot) com (or post it here with the above confusers for data miners) I can share you into the folder

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

I have Dave’s in my contacts, I’m not sure about anyone else

Hmm there’s a link function

I’m new to this, so I’m not sure if you can see the pics from that link

EDIT: OK , it seems you should be able to see the photos from there, so no need for emails (I think). The overall map gives you an idea of the time you will need to reach the camp. It’s 660ft from forest edge to camp through difficult terrain unless you run along the cleared track

I see the linky! Thank you!

Hrm, unless we want to risk running into more sentries along the obvious and easy approach, we will need to hustle through difficult terrain to get within assault range.

Yeah the difficult terrain is a half meter of crusty old snow and a bunch of stumps of various sizes mixed with branches and underbrush. Anyone who has ever moved through that kind of crap knows it’s about the most difficult terrain of all

Unless the snow has been melted and the brush burned.....

I'm having flashbacks to going hunting with my dad when I was a kid. Not exactly no bueno, but definitely <0.5 bueno.

My associates are just as much out of the loop as I am; anyone interested in character illustrations free of charge?

Offer extends to characters from this PbP only (don't worry, I'll fill them in, just give me the details).

Update-- against all odds, I'm actually making progress on this. I've got the base linework down for all 8 of the first batch of characters (Justin, Karrin, Hamar, Blayze, Alessia, Sophistacia, Merle, and Melchizedek), and final pencils done on 3 of those. Trying to bring back an old style I used to use for storyboards back in the day, a little more cartoon/animation-looking. Hopefully this will actually get done.

Yeah that’s my landscraping PTSD right there

OK, since the sentry fight is basically a second battle, I've made a map of it. The tree symbols are just an effect. The movement in the forest is difficult, there is underbrush and snow all about. However, you know where the sentries are. The map is in the file above.

Thinking tactics here, need some direction--

Alessia's got decent Stealth, even in heavy armor, but is definitely better-suited to being a big, loud distraction and taking a ton of punishment. What are everyone's thoughts on her drawing fire Leeroy Jenkins-style while all of the big damage-dealers sneak around the back and sides?

My botch on stealth will likely get them to turn around...

I am SO sorry!
I actually hurt my back trying to pull stumps and the remaining roots (of the cut down bushes) from the front of my house. (The entire front was hidden behind the bushes)

So, yeah, pulled muscles in my lower back. Like a dummy.
So I haven't been doing much of anything lately.
I can sit for a while, but my back gets stiff and hurts MORE after. ;P

ANYway, I am catching up now!
Sorry for dropping off RIGHT as we got started! :)

I'm curious got a link to the new Illustration?

Kevin Mack wrote:

I think he was talking about this one, which isn't game-related.

Currently, final pencils are done on everyone except Alessia and Justin. Color is next.

That is cool.

Been a long time since an illustration kinda creeped me out. :)

You know, the first round of this giant fight is really making a case for the "armor as damage reduction" concept...

I think it’s hilarious that 3/3 ranged attacks have been spoiled by concealment. All I can think of is Pando somewhere going “OW! OW! That stings!”

I was thinking more along the lines of the fact that the giants are throwing human-sized rocks at basically point-blank range, yet they somehow can't *hit* a character because they're wearing really good armor (+7 to attack vs. 32 AC).

Heheh, Poor Pando. He can't win. ;P

I have to admit, I much prefer it when cover works FOR us, rather than against us. ;)

Blayze Female Aasimar Gunslinger (Mysterious Stranger) 2/ Paladin (Holy Gun/Divine Hunter) 9

That's because AC is a combination of armor, agility, reflexes, magic etc. It's more like dodge,, mostly get out of the way, it only manages to clip your shoulder and fortunately, your armor took the edge off of it, leaving just a bruise.

Well, technically they aren’t human-sized rocks. The giants are roughly 2.5X the size of a typical human, so the rock they are throwing is about 2.5x the size of a good-sized stone you could throw. It’d still be painful, and about the size of a human head I would estimate.

Karrin will double move into Q30, eating any AoO, next round she'll be able to unleash hell.

except they're missing because of concealment not AC so we're ducking in and out of cover saying "Bazinga" and they're chucking their rocks where they thought we were.

I like Guy's version. ;)

That is totally going to be a thing Justin yells sometime. "BAZINGA!"

Because he can. :)

I get that, I was referring specifically to my character. Even if they hadn't rolled badly for concealment, if they've only got +7 to hit...

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Yeah that 32 AC is a bear. You are the penultimate meat shield

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

By the way, looking at the sentries stats, I messed up the rock's atk/dam. My bad, and I doubt that it is going to be an issue from this point anyway.

Justin is ALL about walking behind Alessia! :)

EDIT- And NOW he will be! :)

If you house-rule it and say that Intimidate can affect enemies farther than 30 feet (entirely up to you, feel free to say no), then she'll do that. If not, she'll take another move action.

Indeed. :)

Are we still considered to be in difficult terrain? Trying to figure out if I can charge, or if I'll have to make do with a double move and then attack next round.

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Yeah the whole forest is difficult terrain. You are hasted, so you are moving at your normal speed. After the sentries are dead, there is a cleared path that with afford normal terrain speeds

Sorry for the absence. Found out yesterday that my dog has aggressive cancer in her hip. Amputation would only give her 3 months and that's if it hasn't made it to her pelvis or spine.

I'll probably keep up with posting as a distraction but may disappear for a day or two here and there. My wife is heartbroken and my 11yr old is utterly crushed.

Aww, damn, I lost my last dog almost 10 years ago. It's freaking horrible. They're beautiful creatures that are often too good for us. Worst of all their time with us is fleeting, often less than 20 years. I hope you guys remember the happy times and don't dwell on this final goodbye. Dogs would want their people happy. That's just how they are.

Understood. I lost my elder boy almost two years ago. Even though I still have his younger "brother" still miss him every day. My condolences.
