A Petty Question for Paizo.

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

I know things are still a bit hectic... And the dust hasn't quite settled yet...

But if you guys are willing to discuss it, I'd like to hear how Paizo feels after the announcement of the Pathfinder RPG.

I know you lost several subscriptions. I know you gained a couple. This I gleaned from the messageboards.

But I was wondering if you are confident of your stance, a little concerned - borderline, or you aren't sure about your stance yet.

And if you are willing to pass on numbers, I'd like to know as well.

BUT, I am also willing to accept "we won't discuss that."

As far as numbers go, Jason's interview on the Paizo blog kind of snuck in the fact that we've had more than 5000 individuals download the Alpha, and that was just within the first 48 hours.

We're very happy with the response. We've had a lot of great feedback from customers both old and new. We also know some people think we're crazy, stupid, or both, but that's ok, because we also know we're making a *lot* of people happy with this decision.

Make that 5006. I downloaded a copy and sent copies to people in my gaming group (they wouldn't have taken the time to create an account to download the PDF. I know them). One of the guys grabbed onto it immediately and is enthusiastic about it. Two of the guys see this as a way to avoid forcing obsolescence for $1000 of 3rd edition material. One guy wants to have wizards that can turn invisible before 16th level. And everyone else just wants to hang out.

There's some enthusiasm building in NYC for the Pathfinder RPG!

All seven of my players are very interested in the new rules. I played last night and encouraged them all to make accounts on Paizo, download the rules and participate in the discussion. I plan on checking back with them next week and will be hand distributing the rules to each of them for those that were too lazy to join the site.

For every 3 downloads, you are probably getting the rules out to 5 people and that is a very conservative estimate given the viral nature of the internet.

I am more interested in how many of the hardcovers have been preordered.

Same as above for me, I ran a session last night and got the guys to take on some of the new rules. All 7 of them seem very interested in being part of this.

So far the turning and rogues sneak attacks are in, as we are a group of 7, the characters do not get converted across until all the classes are done.

If they tell you, the number ain't right.

Even if they think the number is right, tell you, the number still won't be right.
We're still tallying up how many copies we need here, and havn't finished yet. =)

And some of us do not like to pre-order that far in advance. As my guys will be sticking with 3.5E, and I mostly like what I see so far with 3P, I suspect that around July 2009 I will pre-order 9 rule books. 1 for me, 6 for my regulars and 1 for my son (irregular) and 1 for my grandson (also irregular).

That said, I will most likely also incorporate Monte's Book of Experimental Might (at least the discipline stuff) into my version of the rules.
