Thank you Paizo, Josh, and Gary.

I know a lot of people are going to disagree with my sentiment, and I'll try to be as respectful of that as I can.

I haven't been posting here as much as I used to, partly because I'm too busy, but part of it is that I really wanted to have a rational conversation about 4E, and that was not possible on these boards.

I know many of you feel that you or others are being censored by Paizo, but frankly, the shouting matches on the 4E boards was drowning out way more free speech than the recent clean-up. All IMO of course, but suffice it to say that I frequently decided not to post because I felt my words would simply be drowned out, or had my words drowned out and lost in a sea of insults, or saw the same thing happen to others.

Freedom of speech is not just for those who shout the loudest.

Anyways, thanks guys for cleaning things up. It looks like a mostly thankless job, so I thought I'd do what little I can to change that. I really appreciate your hard work and tolerance through this process. I look forward to more rational discussion of the game.

And thank you to everyone who respected Paizo's decision and brought it down a few notches.

And thank you to everyone who kept their cool all along.

Craig Shackleton,
The Rambling Scribe

PS: I am personally undecided on 4E, in case anyone feels that this colours my perspective.

Well said. Thanks guys.

Thank you guys (and gals)!

Rambling Scribe has summed up my feelings as well - I have not posted as much for similar reasons, particularly in the 4e boards.

Man this whole maelstrom is odd. I'm sure you guys can't wait for this maelstrom to pass . . .keep up the quality work you guys have been doing in every aspect.

Thank you Paizo, Josh, and Gary. I've enjoyed these boards and think you are handling the moderation well.

I am also in agreement with Rambling Scribe. Though I've been extremely busy, the main reason I have not been posting is my frustration with the recent attitude and conversations.

I came to these boards because of the great community and it has made me sad to see many great contributions and contributors drowned out in the chorus of painful attacks. I welcome the opportunity for their words to be heard again.

Thank you all.

Sovereign Court

What is this freedom of speech you speak of? Oh yeah, that's something that you used to be able to do on this board. Fond memories. Oh well, nothing good lasts for long.

Nice try, Cory. Number of posts suppressed since the boot-stomping began: Zero.

All we are asking is for people not to be jerks. Not mindlessly conform.

At least there were 6 relevant posts in a row.

Speaking of things not being relevant Mr. Dudemonkey . . .why o why did I use the word maelstrom twice in this paragraph?

I heard you have to pay extra for that.

What an interesting word. Obviously not of Latin or French origin. Anglosaxon? I am in sudden need of an etymology fix. ... Ahhh ... that's better.

In the spirit of the first post... thanks!

So you mean I should be doing more than skimming the 4E forum now? Because people are going to actually be discussing 4E? Thanks guys, I'll have to post more here.

You are clearly in need of a beating. The firm hand of authority will show you the light, young man.

And thank you Josh and Gary for giving me the chance to clean up this cesspool of free-thinking disrespect and anti-authoritarianism.

And thank you Watcher for bringing the thread back on track!

I have to add that I'm grateful for Paizo's light moderation and look forward to the day it's no longer needed at all. I think the signal to noise ratio has improved quite a bit lately, barring the threads discussing the moderation itself. The 4E threads have had some really good discussion going on, though.

So, Thanks!

I am waiting for the "good" (I am well aware that my opinion is considered the wrong one here) discussions to start up again. It is starting to look like the G-23 Paxilon Hydrochlorate that was added to the air processors is pacifying the community wonderfully.

Am I pacified? I'm buzzed. But I thought that was just from mixing anti-depressants and alcohol.

Just adding my voice to the thanks. Keep up the fantastic work. You folks have been doing such a bang up job I have decided to continue my Pathfinder subscription uninterrupted even though I don't plan to be an 'early adopter' of 4e. I have never been to a better board, and although it is a shame you had to step in to moderate, I'm glad you are handling it in such a forthright and sensible manner. Kudos from the non-poo flinging monkey!

I would also like to say thank you. As one of the 4e fence sitters I have had the first discussion on a potential 4e rule/concept from both sides without it devolving into name calling and WotC bashing (well, if you discount the "4e fanboy" remarks that seems to be the threshold for acceptable dismissive labeling now, which is fine by me).

I like the tumult of ideas better than the churn of Angst and Anger (ooo, new psychology/philosophy RPG title).

Thank you,

Indeed. Thanks to all the Paizo folks, and in particular Josh and Gary for their long and tireless efforts.

You're wrong. I'm just drunk.

Alcohol intoxication in public is a crime young man.

<THUMP, THUMP, THUMP.>

Thanks guys. I appreciate it.

Any chance of getting rid of the 4E boards until after release?

I would pay...

Lucky you Kruelaid. I am on call but I do see a green chile bacon cheese burger with spicy krinkle cut fries in my future.

Count me as one of the thankful. Paizo folks, y'all are doing a lot at once and I really appreciate it.

I agree with the OP. Additionally, it bites most for those folks at Paizo who have to waste time jacking around with this. For every 2 minutes it takes for a bunch of people indvidually to be inconsiderate i'm willing to bet that it takes someone at Paizo 2 minutes to fiddle with considering a post on their boards. 2 minutes to 30 posters is 2 minutes of time for each of them...it's an hour for someone at Paizo. Do the math - it would bite.

My guess is that that time could better be used putting together another RPG Superstar, or how about fixing the dead post bug ;), or what about editing manuscript for another product line. I hope none of this mess will affect willingness to playtest whatever Paizo games are at GenCon this year. Or for volunteers to want to be a part of the Paizo booth at that event. I hope that Eric and James will be giving talks about writing for an RPG publisher (as I will be attending again for the 3rd year in a row). I hope that this nonsense doesn't sour relationships built over the years and turn off newcomers for whatever the reasons.

I will say that for a number of reasons beyond what i consider to be not that big of a deal with the 4e release, I don't like the thought of collatoral damage to any of the things that I mention here and many others that I haven't experienced in this community that are awsome, but i know others have.

As ever,
ACE

Thank you, Paizo, for working hard to keep this a place of decent discussion without mindless attacks. I really appreciate that you continue to allow us to ‘come on in’ and chat about the games in what I see as your livingroom

Just chiming in as one that appreciates the fine quality of work that the people of Paizo put out. The new setting is a great start to when I ever get back into gaming.

As I'm just a nobody on these boards, & I like it that way. I too appreciate the support I've gotten whenever I've asked a question whether it's a Paizo product or anther gaming company product. Thank you for that.

Consider this a "me too" post.

While I understand that the new edition evokes strong emotions (I see it in myself), I don´t think this should be used as an excuse for personal attacks on other gamers or game designers. So, paizos decision to moderate personal attacks after a warning had been issued two months ago is fine with me - I don´t feel censored and can still express my dislikes regarding the edition change. But that is another thread.

I'll add my agreement. I imagine that Josh and Gary feel like the cops, the parents, etc after recent events. You guys have done a good job at being fair. So, I just want to add my thanks.

Scarab Sages

It can't be easy having to be the bad guys in some peoples eyes so I'd like to add my thanks to the list.

It definitely deserves to be said that these boards are something special, other sites may have the authors and employees on but here even with the current disagreements it feels more like a family.

Dysfunctional and eccentric but family nonetheless.

Best thing I did in a long while was coming to these boards.
