Please note: I am NOT looking for a discussion of 3.5 vs 4e with this thread.
I myself want to read the new books before deciding what I think about the new version.
So regardless of if you plan to switch to 4e, plan to stay with 3.5, or are still on the fence, I am just curious if you have gone ahead and preordered the PHB, DMG or MM.
I have gone ahead and pre-ordered all 3.
I pre-ordered the core book set, played in a sanctioned 4e demo, and immediately canceled my pre-order. I will be sticking with 3.x/OGL

I did preorder through Paizo, then cancelled when I got teed off about the "no 3.5 if you want to do 4" clause in the GSL and spent the money on some OGL products instead. I'm all wishy-washy now, and don't really know if I will buy 4e or not. I still basically like what I have heard, but I'm not totally over the annoyance about the GSL.

Ordered the module out in May the $66 gift set, then character sheets, DM's screen and the second module. Then the second week of June myself and my players are doing an all day event to make characters and begin. We are finishing up Savage Tides right now, and the timing is perfect. In 6 sessions they will either die trying to kill Demogorgan, or retire, then we begin 4th editon. Try it out for 1 month and then give our results.

I wish my group matched the release as well as yours Ed. We just finished the SCAP in March and are maybe five or six sessions into AoW. I expect we'll be around session 10 at 4E's release, and we're not 100% sure what to do. There is a lot of 4E excitement in my group, and we've already played three play tests. Our AoW DM has offered to possibly convert, but that is a lot of work to ask of him. So far we're unsure on what we'll really do ...
Cheers! :)

As the producer of a D&D podcast I feel pretty obligated to get 4e. That said, I don't regret being in that position at all at the current time.
Also, for those of you not getting it until you know more, stay tuned to TheTomeShow.com.
And for those of you pre-ordering, well, feel free to support the Tome by using our Amazon store at TheTomeShow.com. ;-)

Just say no !
Me, and my whole group, Just said yes!
The new edition is to intresting, and too exciting, to ignore and so Amazon.com got my money.
I'm glad that Paizo and Pathfinder will continue 3rd edition, just as Tunnels and Trolls and Hackmaster continued the first two editions, but I'm going to 4th edition and I won't be looking back.

Hell no. I still have my 2e books, my 3.0 books, and I pick up the occasional 1e book because they are cool. I have boxes of 80s era Dragon and Dungeon mags from my brother-in-law because he wanted to throw them out! Throw them out?!?!?! What's the point of having a garage!??!?
And, if I find out that 4e sucks ass after seeing it in play, or I just want a different gaming experience, I may well end up playing 3e again. I have a feeling that its crunchiness may well drag me back even if 4e is great, just like I sometimes want to play WoD even though I love D&D.
Plus, I plan to continue subscribing to Pathfinder for at least a while longer.
You can't even have any pie.

Huh, the latest news from Mike Lescault might put to rest my qualms. So I might re-pre-order.
I'm doing these endless hand-wringing posts just in case anyone finds my little internal high-school drama as fascinating as I seem to. Come on, guys, we can't just let them cut down the old tree next to the gym! That is like so wrong! Isn't anyone going to join my sit-in?

I'm playing both. Back in the day we had basic (4.0 design principles) and Advanced (3.0/3.5 design principles). I played both and enjoyed both. My buddy is DMING 4.0. I am DMing PFRPG. I'm getting the best of both worlds.

So I will be reentering the messageboards once 4th edition does come out. After we have played the intro module, and looked over the finished product, then at that point we will make our recommendations and opinions. Until then its only speculation on both sides. I too am awaiting PFRPG books to come out as well, so I can combine both into one perfect system. At this point everyone wants to keep fumble/crit decks, and also keep mass combat rules from old old editions.

Yup! I'm definitely intrigued, and Amazon's price is worth fulfilling my curiosity.
If you are looking better price, consider ordering from Barnes and Noble. They have the same list price, same 5% reduction for pre-orders, but! If you have never ordered from Barnes and Noble online, or at least make a new account on the website, you can save $25 with a coupon deal they have going.
The coupon code is: A8P8N9P
The price still doesn't beat the current Pathfinder price of Free however.

Or...and this is just a thought...order from our lovely friends here at Paizo, who provide us with these wonderful messageboards, and have a package deal described below:

Of course I have.
In the end, the only judgement I really trust is my own. I won't know whether this new game is something I want to add to my repertoire until after I've read it, thought about it, and probably played it a bit.
I never really leave behind any version of D&D, though. I still have all the materials (literally all) and I still play, at least occasionally, all the old editions.
Why not?
