That is brilliant. I need to go find my shovel.

Ok, no, haven't heard of CIA involvement on Castro's rise to power...and the dictators supported by CIA were usually the ones who overthrew the governments which went for nationalization, so that would go against the common logic.

Yes it does go against common logic. But then there are always a few people who think a little instability might be a good reason for America to increase its military presence, making a little investment in Castro seem like a good idea. Considering that the CIA has tried this in several variations and even planned to do it against Americans themselves (and perhaps even executed it), it's not really such an outrageous possibility.

I guess nothing ever came of this theory, which, I believe, was formulated from interviews of Castro's fellow revolutionaries.

You say excited, I say scary. Where will that thing land if we miss it? Maybe I'm watching too much Jeremiah and Jericho, but if that missile is just a few too many inches to the right, I want to know if I should put my head betwixt my legs.

In all seriousness, it's a big waste of money. I would think that if the good scientists at NASA can figure out how to aim a missile to hit it, they can figure out where it's going to land within a reasonable margin of error. I think they're more concerned about China or another country getting a sizable portion of it; concerned enough so that they'll jeopardize future space launches by adding bits of orbital velocity space junk to our atmosphere.

Let's send out Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck again. Hell, if they could stop a meteor they can stop this.

At the very least we'll finally be rid of Ben Affleck!

AND PS You need to demand your right to vote on USA elections because you lost the right to directly and regularly approve every act of Government, Law, and Constitution.

No such right exists, in the U. S. Constitution.

No such right exists by universal fiat either.

SEDITION

Sedition is any act causing Government, Law, Constitution, Sovereign to be held in hatred and/or contempt.

Therefore any act of Government, Law, Constitution, Sovereign causing Government, Law, Constitution, Sovereign to be held in hatred and/or contempt is thus a seditious act.
Thus every act of Government, Law, Constitution, Sovereign requires the direct and regular approval of every citizen.

TREASON
Treason is an assault on the state and its obligations to its citizens.

Therefore, every crime (including Sedition) is an assault on the state and its obligations to its citizens. Therefore anyone opposed to the right of the individual to directly and regularly approve every act of Government, Law, Constitution, Sovereign to protect the right of every citizen to an equal share of the benifits and obligations of citizenship is an act of treason.

Refusing to be accountable to these two laws is an act of resisting Arrest under charge of Treason.

THe Penalty for resisting arrest under charge of treason is death. However due to the fact that Death violates the right of the individual to life, The penalty must be commuted in favour of expulsion from civilization for life.

This is something you should enjoy Samwies.

PS how did the elf kingdoms you were working on go?

yellowdingo, could you do the boards a favor and not post on political threads. You're views range from extreme and annoying to offensive and rude. Things have been a lot more civil and friendly around here since you quit posting on political threads, and I don't think I'm alone in wanting them to stay that way. Go to a politics board if you want to get into a nasty fight over politics; these boards are for nasty fights over 4e.

Though come to think of it, the 4e threads were starting to turn a corner, so I think we could just pass on the nasty fights altogether.

Except that nothing in the U.S. Constitution or law establishes such a right.

As such, your whole post is moot.
In fact, the U.S. Constitution explicitly defines treasons differently, specifically to forestall the kind of gratuitous redefinition of the term that you are attempting to engage in.

As for a more general and universal definition of those terms, unfortunately for you I have read political theory. I am quite aware of how it works:

X is self-obvious. You must accept it by fiat.
A, B, and C may therefore be interpreted from X, and by such interpretation serve to prove X.
I-C (Roman numerals) thence derive from the fiat acceptance of X and the mutual justification of with A, B, and C, in a perfect logical progression.

The problem is, X is not self-obivous, nor is its mutual justification with A, B, and C, and so I-C do not logically proceed.
So even as a general definition you are wrong.

It's carrying a deadly alien virus! Can't you see? The GOVERNMENT is using OUR MONEY to SAVE THE WORLD! Or not. Maybe it's an alien spacecraft bent on peaceful contact, and the government wants to start a war in SPACE to take the public eye off the war in the MIDDLE EAST!

Reading the U.S. Constitution?
Reading political theory and applying critical analysis to it?

Do not use it for your pet rock. Then would be confusing.

Of course I wish Cuba's citizens well, but even if democracy comes it in no way guarantees an improved lifestyle for the average citizen--democracy can put idiots into power just as easily as a military coup. Does the improved lifestyle for average citizen of Cuba include level of health care and education enjoyed in USA or surrounding Latin American countries? Or women's rights?

Charming.

Guess what... my post was not a generalism posed by some dick who thinks "all dictators were put in power by CIA" or I would have said so. It was actually a serious question. Years ago I heard an argument that there was CIA money behind him and was fishing to see if anyone else has heard of this. Of course I know the US backed Batista but a lot of stuff goes on that we don't know about, doesn't it.

As far as America's 'crusade' against Cuba (crusade as in indicting Canadian companies that do business there), my understanding is that the USA and Castro didn't like each other because he threw Americans out and nationalized their properties. Added to this the fact that having a communist regime so close to America amounts to a chink in America's strategic defenses.
