I am maybe a quarter of the way through the Vale adventure and the PC's are already counting on getting the Fort. While that is something that has to be determined, I wanted some extra ideas.

So assuming they get the Fort or at least some land in the Vale what kind of adventures or other action does everyone think build from that?

(I do have some thoughts but I don't have a lot of time to devote to coming up with things. Pregnant wife gets a little "more" moody when I spend too much time with D&D)

Anyway thanks for any help.

I have exactly same situation as you do (within the game=). I don't have time to develop adventures in bloodsworn vale, so I'm throwing them back to Falcon's Hollow (where they started) for some Carnival of Tears. I think I'm going to kill the king of Korvosa, and when the queen has rule, she will take over fort Thorn and players are forced to leave. Or something. I'm also considering to run Gallery of evil, which would be more suitable for their level (8th). But I have no idea how they would end up in Absalom, so Carnival of tears it will be. But anyway, I would also be interested what people come up with for this...

Well so far I have just planned on having encounters for some of the resources. There are 7 resource locations and if Oakbrow has an agreement with the party only 4 of them will be used. However with one in the mountains and one woods location I am planning on having another group (dwarves, elves, whatever) make claims for the same location. That probably won't take too long though. After that I haven't had time to think anything up.

My player's made an agreement with Oakbrow that they wouldn't take resources from more than two places. One of them is also druid and he didn't like the idea that the vale is going to be turned to mining- and lumber community. Of course there is plenty to do in the vale after the adventure, but I'm afraid my players want something bigger after Vardak's defeat than just managing the fort and the vale. Of course we have already had wilderness adventure and been defending the vale for four sessions, so maybe it's time to move on for us.

There is, of course, Vardak's as of yet, undisclosed master who might come to check up on his old apprentice. Not to mention that the liazrdfolk might decide to become a problem. There is also the possibility of a whole host of monsters from the mountains moving into the region.

Just a few thoughts....

Amazingly I seem to have overlooked the "master". I hate when I do things like that. Thanks for the reminder. (Lizardfolk are getting along really well with Fort Thorn right now. However I was thinking of having some duergar have a claim on a resource. I have also been thinking and I believe I will take the kings upcoming death to sow some havoc since his Queen(or other successor) may have a problem with the pcs controlling such a lucrative trade route. (If they manage to do that well.)

On a totally differnt note. I am loving how the adventure is playing out so far. Good work as always.

Does anyone have any ideas for incorporating other pre written adventures within the module vale (maybe during the game rather than necessarily after). I was thinking automatic hound (as an early adventure?

Spoiler:
On another note how did your group go when they encountered the rosethorn king behind the wall of roses, did they do as he asked- seems a bit unlikely.

I don't have any ideas for incorporating adventures, because I ran the game as a site based, status quo simulation instead of a narrative, tailored module.

I suggest picking up the Stronghold Builder's Guide and having the PCs build settlements in the region. Add more wandering monster and give each one some type of simple lair. For plots, add a few generic merchants and conflicting organizations from Korvosa coming in. (A setting book would be extremely helpful in adding obstacles.)

- sorry Takasi. What do you mean site based status quo simulation?
