Negative personal feelings came into the dialogue as soon as the Wotzis dropped a steaming load in my proverbial cheerios. Like Fake Healer D&D has been my #1 free time activity for 2/3rds of my life. Now the game is being butchered (purely my opinion) and when I and others like us tell the company that makes a game we have poured hundreds to thousands of dollars into over the better part of it's existance they ignore us and patronize us.

That brings out a purely irrational and overwhelming Rage in me. I can't even go to the WotC boards anymore because I literally feel my blood pressure and heart beat raise. So when people like you coldly and clinically and REPEATEDLY tell me my opinion is immaterial because of blah, blah, blah I do get angry. I may not be right, but I want to be heard and acknowledged. So far that hasn't happened from WotC.

4E cannot compete with DVD's, Video Games, the Internet, etc for the Mainstream's attention. Hell regular broadcast television can barely even do that and it has billions in dollars to try where WotC does not. That sir is madness! WotC is firing their loyal audience for a new customer that's not gonna buy in. They've tried to become hip and fresh in their marketing and approach and it comes off as cheesy and awkward. They hired a snowboard guy to try and make them cool. For my money it's not working. Sorry but they lost a customer. And as crazy as it sounds I want 4E to fail just to spite them.

Yes I have negative personal feelings.

I am truly sorry that you feel as if Wizards has harmed you. I am sorry that it has caused you so much pain.

And it may never acknowledge that it has caused anyone pain.

As for me I am sorry that you see me as a part of the problem. There is nothing I can say or do to patch this up.

This conversation, however, will keep going. Even if I stop posting people will still support WotC. Even if you stop posting people will bash WotC.

If this conversation, independent of its participants, is going to continue and it is going to cause people that feel the way you do to dump on those of us that may want to play 4E, and none of that emotional dump will actually make a difference in the pain you feel then why put yourself through it.

I first came here to actually talk about 4E. I did not come here to be assaulted for being *gasp* mildly intrigued by 4E. If what you need is to vent and beat me up as a proxy for Wizards R&D then, by all means, vent.

Just know that you self admitted "purely irrational and overwhelming Rage" maks it bloody difficult to actually talk about the merits and shortcomings of WotCs irreversible decision to publish 4E.

I wish I could in some small way be a boon rather than a bane to you but my feelings towards 4E are not swayed by the fact that some of you are super pissed off. 4E is on its way and i will give it a try. It may suck. It may not. But I am not prepared to say either of these until i have actually played the game.

Until then I hope that a civil conversation free from "purely irrational and overwhelming Rage" is possible.

I think we're ALL more than mildly intrigued by it - some viewing it as the "salvation of D&D" and others as the "stupidest move ever made with the license."

I suspect the truth lies somewhere in between... Until we know (i.e., have the rules in hand and maybe play a game or two) we can do nothing more than speculate (and gripe about the horrible marketing campaign)...

Aw, now where's the fun in THAT?

And isn't 4E all about being "FUN"?

:D

Yeah. I know. The vast interweb is always getting its tubes clogged with bile because its o much fun to produce and ... ick ... consume.

Hmmmm. Maybe civility and rationality are underrated.
