Terry Pratchett - Alzheimers

Scarab Sages

Just saw this article on the web. Even though the chances of him reading this are slim to none, I wish him all the best.

My prayers are with him, but I have to say that I love the fact that his humor comes through even when he is talking about an issue like this. I certainly hope he finds the grace to deal with this Embuggerance and that he finds his well versed brain chemist willing to offer their help.

I still remember reading his stuff for the first time an thinking, "he's doing a parody of Conan and Fafhrd and Mouser! This is great." There was something that almost made my reading habits more legitimate to have someone parody them, if that makes any sense.

Scarab Sages

The sad thing for me is, I've yet to read any of his books. Of course, the good part of that is I've got another author to read for the first time.

I just read A Hat Full of Sky

He rules. This sucks.

The way he's taking this is inspiring, though.

SQUEAK.

Dark Archive

I've read every Discworld book and all the non-Discworld I can find. Such a wonderful author. I wish him the best.

Well, I read the first Discworld book and I can't remember a damned thing about it, so either I share his affliction or his writing made no impression on me whatsoever. Either way, I hope he gets better. There are some existing Alzheimer's therapies on the market now.

Wow that's really sad. Alzheimer's is not pretty.

The first one isn't that great, it took him couple books more to really get the ball rolling (Mort is the first good book).

Anyway, sad to hear this, hope he will be able to keep Alzheimer not advancing...and I wonder if there will be references to this in future books :)

I love Discworld & can't wait to see what he comes up with in the future books. It sucks that he has Alzheimers but he's right, you have to keep upbeat, otherwise it's just pure agony all the way through for everyone envolved.

Damn, I've only read 'Good Omens' but from I really loved that one. I hope he can hold it off.
Alzheimers is one of the worst ways to go that I can think of.
