Any plans on listing the second 32 top items as honorary mentions?

Ok, we have our top 32. The list is compiled.

PS--26 were selected unanimously and each of us then had 2 "golden tickets" to select 2 items each to add to the top 32.

Thank you, now I"ve got the "Cause I've got a golden ticket" song running through my head.

If only exile could be so good, I mean southern Idaho ain't bad, but I've been as far north as Lewiston and I'm more pleased with the terrain in the state the farther north I see than I am down around there.

My Gramma and Grampa Emerson live up around Sandpoint way and the pictures of there look just as nice as that lake you've got around where you live.

Lovely country, that's for sure.

if either of you comes through Moscow, look me up.

Nope, that's just cruel.

Oddly enough, I'm almost as anxious for noon to roll around as the contestants: I'm curious to learn who some of the Round 1 winners are.

By the way, 6 alternates have also been selected--numbers 33-38, which the judges also ranked.

You will get the top 32 in alphabetical order so there is no way for you to know which ones we thought might be better than others.

The alternates will also be posted and/or notified. In the event one or more of the top 32 either flakes and doest submit a submission for round 2 or if someone submits an entry that does not comply with the rules, they will be disqualified and the next alternate in order will be allowed to submit a country for round 2 if they so choose. They dont have to. But they will be notified along with the winners so that they can start working on a country submission just in case.

That was a really nice thing to do designating the extra six alternates.

The alternates will be notified, but not posted. They'll have to submit countries under the same deadline as the top 32, so they will be at neither an advantage or a disadvantage should they be promoted.

Yeah, anticipation is always, always an amplifier, be it for good or bad.

I think it's the drawback to human imagination, as your brain just runs through all these scenarios, whether you're awake or asleep.

Heck, for some odd reason I had an odd dream that you all (the judges) woke me up in the middle of the night with a conference call to specifically tell me that I didn't get selected.

Obviously I think this may have to do with my chit-chat with Peterson prior to my NyQuil induced sleep. *laughs*

At first I thought it was silly, but then it hit me that each one of you, in the past and for various reasons, have had things submitted to you or your companies with my phone number attached and it seemed less silly. *grins*

Yeah I can see it now, "Yep I was one of the alternates, but I just didn't feel like being in the contest. I thought I'd give someone else a chance."

Will this be true for later rounds? Like if I'm #33 and when you get to stage 3 someone doesn't submit, do I get to join the game in stage 3 (effectively skipping stage 2)?

Or does the person that was dropped from round 2 but had the most votes of the losers get to come back into the contest?

Legendary Games, Necromancer Games

Who knows. But my guess is the greatest chance of flake-age is going from a 200-word item to a XXXXXXXX-word (ha ha no clues! you can't even count Xs) country.

In later rounds, my guess is that "alternates" will be pulled from people who didnt make the cut from that round, not prior rounds. In other words, after round 2, 16 of the 32 advance. My guess is we might use 17-32 as potential alternates if any of the 16 then are disqualified or rejected or if they flake and dont follow through.

But dont hold me to this. It isnt my final decision.

We likely won't use alternates beyond the next round. We're eliminating more people each round than we think are likely to flake out, so even if one or two people drop out by disqualification, there will still be a reason to vote.

When we got done with all of them we had 71. I made a pdf of the items.

Now, THERE'S a PDF I'd love to see...

Thanks, Judges, for all your hard work on this; like those before me, I look forward to the continuation of this contest (even if I'm not one of the "Chosen Ones"), and really appreciate the opportunity to take part in this.

As a long-time player, DM, and author-of-necessity (read: [Player]"hey, what are we gonna play this weekend?" [DM] "oh, crap, I KNEW I should have gotten that adventure path. Oh, well, guess I'll have to wing it..."), it's a great opportunity to finally (possibly) get recognized for all those agonizingly-long hours spent trying to keep the story going.

Good luck to all the entrants!

I just wanted to add my thanks to the judges and everyone who is putting on this great contest. And good luck to everyone that entered!

Not long now...the anticipation is killing me...

6 Alternates... This means my chances of being selected just increased by 0.7% (much better then 6720 to 1). YES!!! Looking better all the time. :D

We've revised this. The alternates will be posted. You can think of them as "Honorable Mentions—with Potential."

Ow.

I'm actually hoping not to be an alternate. Talk about your basic kick in the appropriate pair of poorly placed highly vital organs.

Are the winners notified before or after the 12:00 (PST) posting? Just curious if the winners already know who they are.

That's right. Never. Being the demon prince of undead pretty much means I'm up late. After all, I've got a harem of succubii to entertain...at least until 4E comes out and they make them devils (curse you!)

Sweetie, it doesn't matter what the PR people call succubi -- a hawt babe is a hot babe. Or, to put it another way,

That just means succubi play for both sides, which I already knew. :-)

You need a ninja to protect you, and you;re sipping sake?

Mikey, did you pour that drink yourself? because, if not....

Well, at least Gninja is still hawt, so you'll have a good view as you go out.
