Hey all, enjoy this one, I missed the deadline last night so figured there was no rush getting it up today. Not sure if the price is right though.
This versatile bronze rod, an inch in diameter and a foot long, capped on either end by a flat, round metal cap, is the only tool an adventurer needs. Eight buttons run around one end cap of the rod, with one larger button centered on the bottom end cap.
By pressing the correct button, the Wanderman transforms its opposite end cap into a shovel, pick, sledge, or dagger. Two additional buttons cause the opposite end cap to pop off and extend/retract on the end of a silk rope, up to a max length of 50 feet. A third button causes grapple claws to extend or retract from the opposite end cap. An additional button causes the rod to light up like torch. The final button, at the center of the end cap, transforms the rod into a rusty bronze torque worn on the wrist, for easy and inconspicuous storage.
Moderate transmutation; CL 9th; Craft Wondrous Item, light, alter self, Leomund’s secret chest; Price 20,875 gp.

Yeah, seems a little too expensive for the reasons Logophylia mentioned. Maybe around 1k would be better, or even less. Ask yourself: if you had 20k to spend, would you take this item, or a ring of invisibility, for example? Also, alter self only affects living creatures, so I would not use it as a prereq.
It's also a rod. The judges have said that many submitted items were rejected because they weren't wondrous items. Granted, there are some potion-like and weapon-like wondrous items, but better safe than sorry.
How can you transform it back to a rod? If the buttons vanish in the transformation, there's no way to change it back =) (ok, maybe this is not important)
Anyway, it's a nice item but just heavily priced for what you get.

Oops, forgot to mention that the button on the end remains, allowing you to transform it back to a rod. I didn't really mean for it to be a "rod" per se, but wasn't sure what else to call it. Actually, it's a torque! It just temporarily turns INTO a rod for use. How is that?
I know the price is waaaaay too expensive, but I was trying to use the pricing guidelines in the DMG and that is what I got. Doing it with some estimation from my head, I would price it at 3,000gp. An item that continuously casts light on itself costs 2k gp doesn't it? 1st level spell * 1st level caster * 2,000gp?
