Comprehensive Ecology of... List

Dragon Magazine General Discussion

Paizo Employee Director of Game Development

Does anyone have a list of all the critters featured in Ecology of... articles in the last few years?

There's one in the back of Paizo's collected Ecology book...was there something in particular you were looking for?

Paizo Employee Director of Game Development

Nah, I was just curious which critters have been done so far.

I'll see if I can't get that list to you at some point.

Here it is

I have it so ready because I refer to it often.

Awesome. Gracias!

The list is, sadly, no longer complete. There have been ecologies of the barghest, death knight, and derro since that index was compiled.

Gosh Mr. Baur, where could one find the derro and barghest ecology ;)

Why, I'm so glad you asked! :)

Nicolas Logue wrote the Ecology of the Barghest for Kobold Quarterly #2, available right here on the Paizo site.

Yours truly wrote the Ecology of the Derro for KQ #1, also available here.

Yay, I helped! Like Lilith said, there's a complete--as to the end of the printed issues of Dragon--list in the Dragon Presents: Monster Ecologies book (plug, plug). After I stopped being the article's steward, I turned that list over to Dr. Baur, as it looks like Kobold Quarterly is where it's going to live and receive the most regular attention from now on.

By the by, Wolf, if you even need an "Ecology of the Sea Hag," (I know, not the sexiest monster, but the only core hag that hasn't been done yet) just give me a nod and a few months and it's all yours!

I am confident that these particular words have not appeared in this order in the entire history of the English language, but clearly they were *meant* to be put together, if only for my amusement. Thanks for rectifying the situation, Wes!

Surprisingly, it actually looks like that was the 65th use.

I meant the whole delightful phrase. (Google shows no results now, but in a couple of hours, there will be at least one!)

I am ... stunned by your generous offer. It's almost as good as a tojanida ecology. Or an ecology of the flumph. Or something. Sea hags. The weird thing is, I think it could work.

Honestly, I'd be delighted to get a query from any Paizonian who wants to write for KQ. So, yeah, allow me to introduce you to the Query Process Mineshaft, where kobolds store queries. It's like a black hole, but ... deeper. :)

Truth be told, the Ecologies are not where I'm lacking material. I could use some queries on real-world/historical topics, on player tips and tricks, and maybe on sword & sorcery Giants in the Earth type stuff.

Would you happen to be open to queries from non Paizonians perhaps? :)

I'm opening submissions to the public once the magazine hits 1,000 subscribers. Until then, I'm taking queries from subscribers, Open Design patrons, and published freelancers.

If that's you, the guidelines are available on the Free City site.

Is Ecology/Barghest 3.5 compatible? (Pardon me if that's a dumb question, I've never read a copy of KQ)

I'd love to read more on one of my more beloved monsters.

I'm so glad to learn that the book is still in print! My local game/comic shop owner assured me it was long gone, the *&^%$#!

Are you the man who covered the annis hag in one ecology of article? I loved that one, and I have to get a copy of the one covering the green hag someday soon.

BTW, if you cover the Sea Hag, will you make note of her tendency to be foiled by inhumanly-strong yet repellent sailors? ;)

Yes. KQ is currently a 3.5 magazine.
