Of course, with a 22,000 word submission paying 5 cents per word, you're looking at an $1100 paycheck (minus taxes) which will certainly get you a subscription for quite awhile. :)
Those are the standard rates?

Yup. They sure are:

James Sutter wrote:
Generally five cents per word... which, in this industry, is pretty darn good.

So if I promise to spend all $1100 on Paizo products, do you think that'll help 'em pick my submission?

I don't think I've seen something so dumb and so funny at the same time...okay, Chris Crocker might be up there too.

I would like to reiterate (ok, belabor the point) that I would very much like to hear some of the behind the scenes stuff. How did you whittle down to 30 from 150? What were the common threads? What were some common mistakes? How many non-paizo-regulars entered? High level stuff like that would much appreciated.

Man, I came home from work and checked the thread, then took a nap and fed the baby. Now I check the thread again, and still more suspense! >.<

Daigle roots for #13!!!

They've probably already gone home for the night.

I am actually rooting for # -18. That one should be able to win, except for the negative attitude.

We might talk more about behind-the-scenes stuff when we're done.

Might.

Maybe.

Don't hold your breath.

Yes, there was a meeting. We all agreed that we don't like you anymore. You are banished from Paizoland forever. (Note - All but the fact that there was a meeting may be a lie.)

Nick Logue! Congratulations Nick. Nick's adventure really blew us away, particularly the way the Red Raven was actually a candy apple red 1977 Trans Am from this dude's trailer outside of Twin Falls. And setting the adventure in Spokane, which, as everyone from the Seattle area knows, is a favorite vacation location, was pure genious. The pool shark will be a recurring character in the next adventure path and the AA token will be an important artifact in Curse of the Crimson Throne.

Nick's idea was completely original, he came up with all on his own and without stealing from any other poster on these boards, and even though he was technically prohibited from entering the contest in the first place, we think his mixture of redneck adventure will meld well with the new 4e ruleset.

I'd also like to take this post as my chance to announce the new Paizo policy for 4e. Not only will we be converting immediately upon the release of the new rules, we will be recalling all our old product so that we can update it for 4e. I'm sure you'll love it, the old stuff was really lame to begin with, and the new 4e is chock full of uber kewlness.

Anyway, thanks everyone for participating. There were some truly amazing submissions submitted,* but Nick's really dominated over the competition.

*Except for Daigle's submission, which completely ripped off Nick's ideas. Get your own ideas Daigle, or we will no longer sign your body parts at Gen Con.

Spoiler:

Too cruel?

Sovereign Court Contributor

Nice! Well done sir!

Rum? Cookies? Ok. You can stay. But just for a little bit. And if you ever mention the were-poodle again... ~gives you a threatening look~

Rum and Coke will do too.

James? What are you talking about!??!!? Pett is the winner. Logue is a hack, everyone knows it. He's no better than that two bit shrill Sebastian.

I gather this means the process so far has been a little "unfun".

From this end of cyberspace, it's been quite the nervous wait. Everyone in my group has been calling me up wondering whether I made the cut which has made it even worse.

Oh well, I have another three hours of waiting time at work to see if the meeting bears fruit before I sign off for the day.

Best Regards
