W1: Conquest of the Bloodsworn Vale

Adventures

Just got finished reading this adventure. It looks great I am looking forward to running it.

I plan on using the Iconics with the adventures. I was wondering if any of the Iconics speak any languages other than common?

Spoiler:

From a quick look it seems only Valeros has an Int bonus. I'll pick a language for him before I run the adventure. I'm inclined to give him Draconic to help with the Lizardman encounters. I'll have to explain that in his history but that shouldn't proove to difficult.

I have a question about the Mountain Side pit traps (page 25). Those things are deadly!!!

Were they intended to not have a saving throw? I'm thinking of giving them a Reflext save DC 25 to catch onto the edge instead of falling. Anybody have any thoughts on that?

I'm also wondering about the King of Roses encounter. How does everyone think that should be developed. I imagine it was left intentionally vague to suit both violent and non-violent methods.

The PCs seem to be encountered outside by violent fey. Once inside however the Fey do not attack unless provoked. I suppose there should be some sort of dialoge with the feasting fey that leads the PCs to inquire about a talk with their leader (The King of Roses). What I'm worried about is my PCs seeing the full course human meal and trying to slaugter all the fey in sight. If that happens they fey are supposed to be replaced the next time the PCs visit. I suppose eventually then will resort to talk instead of bashing things.

Should the King of Roses ever be pro-active and come to the defense of his people or should I force my PCs to figure out the 'gifts' needed?

Thanks for the great adventure!

Liam
