Hello all, i really want to make battlemaps 1" scale for the beginning of the goblins fights (in town with a lot of élements like carts, barrels etc) but i really don't know what to use to make them, i tried dundjinni and i was not really happy with the result.
Do you have something else in mind?
Just print the pdf . . . re-sizing the image printed to the scale you need.

Interesting you should ask...I was just working on this very thing for my RotRL PbP. The maps are totally original works derived from the module, using freely available graphics (from the Dundjinni user forum and Photoshop textures). Both of those should add up to making the map freely distributable as well, but I obviously will respect any Paizo request to pull the map. You'll find the scale, I believe, to be almost exactly that used in the Sandpoint city map (i.e. 30' on the Sandpoint map equals 30' or so on mine).
I'm not done, but this is my shot so far for the first battle. Got to settle on textures for the grass/dirt (the current shot is just plain old Photoshop), complete the podium, add in some "scenery" like carts and vendor tables/tents, add in XY coordinates for PbP reference, etc. Probably fiddle around more with the cathedral, too (the shadow's too dark/large, for instance).
Oh, and I went with slate shingles for the jeweler's roof vs. wood/thatch for all the other houses so that building stands out a bit. I'll probably have the goblins do a bit of looting there...
These are for use on-line, but I can easily make them print to a 1" = 5' scale.

Okay, for folks wanting this to print at 1" = 5' scale, I've uploaded the full-size map. This one's pretty much done, and I'll use it for both the first and second goblin battles. Semi-spoileresque description below.
I've still got the Photoshop file in layers, so I can make things like the vendor tents and trees semi-transparent as needed (if somebody walks under one, for instance).

What's the best software to print this map out? I don't have photoshop.
As a JPG, you should be able to print it out from just about anything, even a web broswer. Now, this thing is full size--i.e. about 25" x 19"--so you'll need a wide-format printer. Various print places (like Kinko's) could handle it.

Great to hear--I've got the first draft of Goblin Battle 3 (outside the White Deer) just about ready. Here's a preview...

I wonder how much a Kinko's would charge for 1 map? I haven't been to a Kinko's in years...
I have access to a color laser printer at work, but it only goes up to legal or maybe 11x17.
I suppose having it on one sheet is better than pieces.
We've got a 48" x 96" printer at work, so I can print some crazy-big maps...
Printing them in sections then taping it together can work as well. Not sure on the Kinko's costs.

Erian,
I tried downloading the maps and it says that your bandwidth has been exceeded...
How large are the files? If they aren't too large I might be able to host them on our media server.

They're pretty small (each under 500 KB as I recall). Id' definitely appreciate the hosting, as my site is just the personal 10 MB I got with my DSL line a bazillion years ago...

I haven't added sections for the new Pathfinder adventures at theRPGenius.com, yet, but I am planning to. Would you like to share your maps in that archive as well? I've been hosting dozens of DM created resources for the first three APs.

Sure, you folks can share them from as many places as you like. I'm likely going to stick them over in the Dundjinni forums myself.

Erian,
Could you email me the files and I'll get them up asap. I'll post a link here when I get them up.

Thank you for those maps Erian, and also Trent for hosting those. I'm running the game tomorrow and this will help out a lot! :)
Thanks! I hope to improve on the last map some more--probably swap out the wall for something more block and vine-covered. Need some more atmospheric elements, too, as the map just looks empty to me right now.
Anybody found the next spot in the game where a map will be needed? Always good to be ahead of the curve on these things...

Check out the Dundjinni forum. One of the members there owns a printshop and has offered to print out Dundjinni created maps on his web-fed printer, for the cost of shipping.
Staples or Kinko's may also have a web-fed printer for your use.

I have been slowly converting the maps in Pathfinder 1 into Campaign Cartographer 3 maps. Don't have a place to post 'em, but if anyone wants a copy, just drop me an e-mail.

Erian,
I used the two maps that Trent posted on his site. My players loved them, and they added a lot to the game. It even inspired one to climb on the roof of a building to get some height advantage in shooting at the goblins with a bow... something no one might have thought to do without a good map.
Your efforts were much appreciated!
A map of the Glassworks and the Catacombs of Wrath are not strictly 'needed' but sure as hell would be appreciated!
And Trent? If you could host them... other folks volunteered, but yours was the only one I found that worked.
(That is not to discourage others from hosting too).
These are excellent resources, and save a ton of time and the players love them.

Bobby,
In my previous post I hit up Erian-7 for the Glassworks and Catacombs of Wrath.. But my players loved the color maps so much that if you have done them, by all means.. I'll take them. Especially if they're in a format that anybody can print with common software.
I will shoot you an e-mail!
Plus, I'd like to see how good CC3 does in actual dungeon floorplans. I wouldn't care so much about countryside maps, but if it can do floorplans well.. it'd be something to put on the Christmas list..

Erian, your maps worked wonderfully for my first game. They were just the thing to aid my newer players. Thank you so much.
I second (or third, or fourth) the motion for you to make maps of the Glassworks and the Caverns of Wrath. If you get the urge that is.
::motions hypnotically with his rubbery fingers::

Howdy...thanks all, and I'm definitely glad these added to the game.
I'm using the maps in a PbP, so it'll actually be a while before I make it to the Glassworks. I also just started a new job, which is sucking up a lot of my time (and I'm hoping to submit something for the Open Call). However, once I get free I'll take a shot at these.
As for CC, I haven't used the latest version. I have used previous versions and found the interface lacking, but I understand that's supposed to be one of the big improvements in the new one.

While definitely not up to Erian's quality I'm going to start working on these for my own campaign. Here's the first one I made to get the party together. It is called "Sadoc's Mill" because, well, Sadoc the Miller owns it:).
I had the characters encounter a goblin raid on the mill and introduced them to Shalelu early. I also introduced Darkyl, human wizard(illusionist) 3, I had been working on who was a rival of one of the PC's from Riddleport. The character wanted to become an illusionist (he's already a rogue 1) so I made this evil spell-caster in the hopes he'd be defeated and the rogue could get Darkyl's spellbook.
I'll also be emulating the other maps from the series for further adventures.
Sadoc's Mill
This is a PDF file that prints out to 9 pages and it is 4.7 MB.

As far as the mill map that can be distributed and printed anywhere. I've made sure to utilize only art made from users and myself so there is no breach in the Dunjinni user agreement.
Regarding the maps that people are making to duplicate existing maps within Pathfinder that may be a sticky wicket.

What about using the PDF's at a printshop to get laminated battlemaps? Is that an ok use? There's a guy on-line I've used in the past that I'd like to use for this job but I'm not sure if it's ok to do so.
