I had happily opted for transition to Pathfinder but have now discovered that sicne I have changed bank accounts, my Switch / Mastro debit card is not accepted by Paizo. I am therefore going to receive the first few issues of Pathfinder but not the end of a complete series.

I would like to opt for a subscription once my credited issues run out but need an alternative method of payment. If there is no other payment method available then I would like to change my transition option. Would appreciate a quick response from Paizo before you ship the first Pathfinder please.

Unfortunately, Visa/Mastercard are the only payment methods we can accept for the subscription to Pathfinder.

Thanks,
Cos

Have to say that this is a huge disappointment. I have been a loyal customer since Paizo's inception and was prepared to continue as one. Unfortunately this means I am unable to do so and so I have converted my Pathfinder issues into Dungeon back issues.

If payment methods remain inflexible then I'm afraid I won't be back.

Many banks offer Debit cards that bear the Visa or MasterCard logos. These types of debit cards function exactly as a Visa or MasterCard would normally and can be used for the ongoing subscriptions offered through Paizo. I know that Washington Mutual debit cards are MasterCards and Wells Fargo debit cards are Visas. I'm sure many other banks do much the same thing. As long as there's one of the two logos on the debit card, you should be good.

Isn't Maestro Mastercard International?

Thaniks for these comments which are helpful. Unfortunately have tried this card on E-bay UK and it is not recognised as a Mastercard. I was with one of the biggest UK banks and had a Visa debit card but they proved to also be one of the worst banks in the UK. Am now with another bank that provides Maestro debit cards.

Happy enough to use Paypal, electronic transfer or cheque but have been told these are not options for Paizo.

We looked into Switch/Maestro a couple of years ago, and it appeared that we'd have had to set up a bank account in Europe with a European credit processing service, and pay taxes on those sales both there *and* here. Exchange rates would complicate things dramatically; the complexities of our store checkout procedures would increase; the complexities of our accounting system would increase; our taxes would become more complex... in short—totally not worth it.

I've looked around a bit today, but the fact that the MaestroCard home page doesn't even list the US in their country list doesn't inspire confidence that there is an alternate solution.

If anybody is aware of a US-based credit card processor that will process Switch/Maestro, preferably in US Dollars, let us know!

We do accept checques—just not for subscriptions.

I was going to suggest looking into a reloadable prepaid Visa or MasterCard. However, I looked into it a little bit myself, and I can't seem to find a way for someone outside the US to do it.

The only thing I can find are set amount prepaid cards that you can order and have shipped to you, but then you'd have to change your credit card information every time a card ran too low on money, and I imagine it would be a huge pain to keep ordering these things and having them shipped to you.

Many thanks Vic, for your explanation, and to all who have offered helpful suggestions here. Afraid I will have to leave my subscrption for a while until Maestro expands to the US or something else becomes available as an option.

Will look out for Pathfinder in my FGLS and hopefully keep up with it from there. Despite the current Dungeon/Dragon shipping problems I still can't help but love what you have done at Paizo and hope Pathfinder continues in the same vein.
