Like a Varisian comic in a heroic, dramatic style. I'd buy that.

Thanks. Here's a sketchbook thing of Kabran Bloodeye of Falcon's Hollow; might clean him up and take him to final some time, though I might wait until I get a few more Falcon's Hollow residents drawn.

Link fixed for you. Very nice stuff. Reminds me a bit of Kari Liimatainen's work.

Thanks. And thanks for fixing the link. There were nasty, evil gremlins in the machine yesterday. I eventually gave up trying to fix it.

This only has one link, and it's not about me, but it is one of the funniest things I've heard all week. It probably won't be as funny, since I'M telling it, but what the hell...
I was having a conversation with Ben Phillips, one of my professors at SCAD, about some bad experiences he's had as a comic book artist. He told me that the worst one he'd had was doing the 'Family Guy' comic for Fox, through Devil's Due comics.
Basically what happened was that he and the two other people working on the project were given three months (a generous amount of time) to pencil, ink, and color the comic (written by Seth McFarlane), and would be paid by the page. They cranked it out in one month, and sent it to Fox. Unfortunately, it was returned the next day because it "was too complicated." So a few pages got re-drawn. It happens all the time in comics.
Next, Devil's Due said that it contained too many pop-culture jokes, and they didn't want to be sued by any celebrities, the argument being that "since comics are print media, they're vulnerable to libel laws." Since pop-culture jokes comprise nearly all of 'Family Guy,' the entire 24-page comic had to be re-written by an in-house writer and re-drawn. This takes an additional week and a half. It's now a month down to the deadline. A little close, but still no HUGE deal.
The publisher then, however, sent it back because it was "too long" (they needed more ad space, apparently). It's re-written and re-drawn AGAIN, and it's now a week before the deadline. Fortunately, the publisher likes it, and sends it to Seth McFarlane for approval.
Unfortunately, McFarlane sent it back because, of all things, it "wasn't funny." McFarlane then edits the script, which puts it back at square 1. Phillips and company re-draw the comic and send it to the publisher. Unfortunately, it's past the deadline, and Devil's Due wants to bill Fox for holding fees. Fox instead blames Devil's Due for hiring artists that miss deadlines.
In the ensuing chaos, Fox gets billed $500,000 in holding fees, Devil's due loses around $100,000 in missed revenue, and all the artists are paid for every single one of the 100+ rejected pages, plus the final version.
According to Ben Phillips, this happens with alarming frequency.
