Do you have to be of the Varisian race to take Varisian Tattoo feat, or simply from the Varisian region? eg, could a Gnome be enscribed with magical Varisian Tattoos if he wanted to? I'm guessing this to be the case, otherwise it would have been listed as a Prerequisite, but thought I should check.

No, you do not have to be Varisian. Several cultures tag along with the Varisians and the wanderers are not insular about their traditions (at least, not this one). If you're not a Varisian and you have this feat, though, you should definitely work it into your backstory as to where and why you got it.

The Varisian Tatto feat is available to anyone, at any time they get a feat and meet the prerequisite of having Spell Focus in one of the appropriate schools. It doesn't have to be taken as a bonus feat. It can be taken whenever, althoguh if you take it after you start playing, your GM might require you to seek out a Varisian tattoo artist to get inked. But that's not technically part of the prereqs.

Considering we were working 70 hour weeks at the time, producing the last few issues of Dungeon and Dragon (both of which have an extra 32 pages) at the same time as the Player's Guide AND Pathfinder 1 AND the first modules... I'm pretty pleased if the only errors that crept into the Player's Guide were the hide shirt posing as medium armor (it's Light armor, for the record) and a few typos.

I'm actually a little stunned it's out at all. :)

And I am thoroughly impressed, too.

I already wondered how you guys managed to do your normal Dragon and Dungeon working load, created two new adventure formats (PF and modules), start a new campaign setting, create a new adventure path, constantly answer questions here (apparently 24h a day), and working out transition and shipment options... And the result is of the same high quality all of us enjoy!

If just Dragon and Dungeon lived on, too... (ok, that would be too demanding! ;-) ). You whetted my appetite for PF. I am all the more curious about PF #1.

Greetings,
Günther

Bad news- another error folks.. On pg. 11 note that there is no weight for the Ogre Hook?

Given Mr. Jacobs 70 hours plus workload revelation, I too, am suprised that there weren't more mistakes.

I agree with much of what has already been written here... Nice historical backdrop.. A campaign setting that truly whets the appetite of DM's everywhere. Nicely done Paizo! Nicely done!

As with Savage Tides, I love the addition of bonus feats for the PCs.

Oh and yes, the print is a tad bit small.

Keep up the good work guys and watch out for those 70 plus hours work weeks!! They can jack up the ol' inspiration with "brain drain" and ruin a weekend.. Add a few unwanted pounds to yon writer's gullet.. And the list goes on and on. Deadlines are a bane and a boon.

Rock on guys! Keep up the el fantastico jobboreeno!

So far the feats have been popular.

One PC has taken Big Game Hunter. Two PCs have taken City Born from different cities.

The other may take country born/lone wolf or a Varisian tattoo thing.
Someone is taking exotic wpn prof for the bladed scarf!

No big wonder, the bladed scarf is the spiked chain in disguise...

I Love:

The mysterious fey Gnomes.

War Razor - Gotta get me one of them to carry in my boot. Strap on a studded leather jacket and I'm as cool as Fonzie.

The declining civilization to the South is decadent and evil. Very nice. It sets up some large scale conflict for the group to get caught up in.

Paizo have set themselves up nicely with Varisia. Fleshing out the world organically, using modules is the sort of old school touch that I've come to appreciate. Who needs Campaign Guides when you can develop your world in a memorable way, over time so that events and locations can really develop.

Keep up the good work.

I'll never give my players a bonus feat for free though. Never!

There is weight for the Oger hook, just happens to be over a little to the left under the range column. But it states 10 lbs.

Yeah... that whole weapon/armor table is deformed in a lot of places. Poor little thing!

You'll need a big boot... war razors are about the size of short swords. Depending on which picture you look at in Pathfinder 2, that is.

And what's wrong with bonus feats? If everyone has them, everyone's happy! AND, if your players don't expect you to ever give them a bonus feat and you do, POW! You get to be the Best GM Ever!

I have to say, the players have totally gotten into the the setting with the player's guide alone. In their backstories I see references from the book that I did not expect. Maybe I just am fortunate enough to have good and excited players, but Kudos to FWS for the prose for inspiring them. Looking forward to the AP with intense anticipation.

I'd like to add that I think the Earthbreaker is a welcome--and much needed--addition. It has been my experience that a certain type of player (and heck, for that matter, certain types of DMs) seem to think that the only way to make an "effective" fighter is to go nuts with a Greatsword. Although different, I think the Earthbreaker will be an equally attractive option to these folks. Sure it has a smaller chance of inflicting a critical hit, but it does more damage when it does crit. Nice.

And I love the idea of a troll or an ogre or even a muscle-bound orc wielding one of these things. Blunt force trauma here we come!!!

Please allow me to register another emphatic one immediately. I just got my copy, all eager anticipation, and I'm having to squint and struggle to make anything out. Do I need glasses? Possibly. But this font is small enough that you should really include a magnifying glass with each issue. For sure, there's no way I can run an adventure like this--DMing is already hectic enough, without the text being impossible to read.

YES YES YES, Please increase the font size. I had to read a chapter a night because I got head aches trying to read the small print!!

On print size. I can see why it might be a problem, although it isn't for me, but my contrasting plea would be; please, please, please keep the Pathfinder series as full and rich with content as it currently is.

Now there's a thorny issue with which to tangle...
