Actual release date for Pathfinder #1

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Silver Crusade

Hi guys,

I tried a search but didn't come up with anything, but since I'm on a auto -ship (charter subscription) for Pathfinder, I was curious when is the actual date for release?

With the Player's pdf included, will this make the release for us sooner? At least that part of it. I'm gonna be doing a play by post game with Pathfinder (sadly no local groups) & some of my players, as well as myself included are anktious(sp) to play in the world of Pathfinder.

thanks for any info

RM

Hmm . . . I think it has been stated elsewhere on these boards that the date is mid-August. I know that is not very specific, but I believe the reason for that is there are certain *things* that can make picking an exact release date hard (Chinese printing, I gather, for example).

Now I could be way off base, and if I am then rest assured someone with a higher Knowledge (Paizo) skill will come along and correct me.

Liberty's Edge

I seem to remember recently seeing that the RotRL players guide pdf is planned to be released this Friday (Aug 3). I would assume that this would coincide with the first shipments of the new product (thats just a guess tho).

Mid-August. Because these are coming from China, and have to pass through U.S. Customs, there's more variability in the scheduling, so we won't be providing exact ship dates.

It was stated, though, that the player's guide is going to be available for download in PDF form prior to the hardcopy ship date. This Friday, August 3rd, I suspect the Paizo server is going to be working overtime for those who want their fix early. Here's what Vic had to say:

And for me, my player's want some insight into anything they'll need to know for character creation for Rise of the Runelords. So the sooner I can tell them that stuff, the better. I've already passed along anything I could glean from the blog's sneak-peeks (e.g., the pantheon of deities and their domains, etc.). But people are wondering about the opportunity for regional feats, and so on. I want to get that kind of information to them as soon as possible. Hence, I'm really looking forward to Friday...

wouldn't you know it, post this one & I came upon the thread stating about the release of the PG for Aug 3 & around GenCon for P#1 to come out (tried to delete this one but for some reason didn't come up, oh well....

thanks for the info guys, understandable about not having a exact date, mainly wanted to know due to having cash in the account for when the book actually ships (should be no problem thou)

NSpicer,

yah I agree with you there, I posted about a month ago on the board I'm gonna run this on, just to get a feel for who wanted to play & they are asking the same questions & such, so an early release of the PG would be fantastic!!

again thanks for the responses

There's a few new weapons, several pieces of equipment, and six new feats in the Player's Guide, but the majority if it is indeed stuff about the region and history and background to aid players in building characters that'll fit in to Varisia.

Ah! That's useful information. My players had asked about the possibility of new feats...and even regional feats similar to what FR introduced. I'm sure they'll find the new weapons, equipment, and especially the historical background information useful, too.

The feats are standard feats, but they are very much localized and tie in to Varisia. Granting one of the feats from the Player's Guide to a PC as a bonus feat is my suggestion; it's what we did for the four iconics we're printing as pre-gen characters in Pathfinder.

It's probably true. Unfortunately, we haven't yet implemented the high-bandwidth solution we'll be using for Pathfinder PDFs. So please be gentle with us!

Just put Gary on it. I'm sure he wouldn't mind putting something new at the top of his list. ;)

Just as long as combined shipping for Pathfinder and Gamemastery also remains at the top of the list. You can handle having two things at the top at the same time right Gary?

I saw somewhere that they tentatively planned to start shipping Pathfinder 1 this coming week, I'm not sure who from Paizo it was that stated it. Since no email was sent out notifying of an impending shipment, is that still on or not? I hope it is still on as I am impatiently waiting to get my greedy little hands on it. Thanks, and keep up the good work guys.

I'm working on it.

My top priorities right now:

1) Get combined shipping working. When I have that finished (it's nearly finished now), we'll send emails to everyone saying "yo, come back and select whether you'd rather hold your Pathfinder for a GameMastery module, or hold a module for a Pathfinder, or what". With any luck that will be tomorrow.

2) Figure out how to print nearly a half-mile of postage and UPS labels.

3) Rewrite our watermarker so it will work from the remote server, so everyone can download their Pathfinder #1 PDF when it ships.

4) Take my first vacation in nearly twenty years once all this stuff is dealt with. :-)

Grand Lodge

Gary, when you're done let me know I'll buy you a beer. And if you'll be at GenCon let me know and I'll make sure you get one. I know you're one of the many people in the background of the gaming industry who rarely gets noticed or recognized, but I'd like to be the first to say thank you for your hard work. Appreciate it.

Now that I've kicked some butt, and brown nosed can I get my copy of Rise of the Runelords before anyone else?!? huh well can I?

heh.

I've edited the quote to how it should read.

Geeze man, if you've got vacation time . . . Go! Take the vacation! Stop worrying about us. If you get a heart attack or something cause you don't slow down to relax and smell the roses . . no one will be happy.

Liberty's Edge

HI Gary,
I know your list is probably still a mile long, but is there any change we could combine our gamemastery and pathfinder shipping with stuff like Pathfinder Chronicles Gazetteer,Pathfinder Chronicles: Classic Monsters Revisited etc once they come out?

Thanks.

Since that is several months away, my guess is that you will be able to combine those things together for shipping. Gary has repeatedly stated taht doing that was one of his goals, but it is slightly lower priority right now. Call it number 7 or 8 on that list. Trust me, the all seeing eye is on top of it! ~grins~

Liberty's Edge

Thanks Sharoth! I just never saw it mentioned as something they were working on. I just did not want to bring it up two before the actual release dates ;-)

The first rule of Upcoming Features Club is you do not talk about Upcoming Features Club until they are no longer upcoming features. ;-)

But yeah, that's something we'd like to do.

The actual, announced, listed, by-gods street date is Wednesday, August 29. That is the day you should see PF1 for sale on store shelves. If you happen to see it for sale BEFORE that date, please let em know so I can bring down The Hammer on whoever broke the street date :-)

Is it the same for subscribers? Because I'd hate to be hammered...

Ah, but will you complain if the New York Times reviews it on the 27th?

Umm, no.

Rule #4: Thy Shalt Not Bringeth Down The Hammer Upon The New York Times.

Wait, do you know something I don't know about who's reviewing what?!?

Silver Crusade

ah so it's not shipping out tomorrow then.

just curious as I had a set date of Sept 1st to start my online game with this, if so gives my players more time to churn up character ideas, ha ha

Any news on when RotRL will be shipping. Looking forward to getting the pdf.

"My Subscriptions" lists the present issue of Pathfinder as #2. Does that mean that it ships today, or the pdf's will be released today?

I am likely overeager. Gimme.

They should be shipping today, according to an email from Paizo I received last Thursday:

If you'd like to become a Pathfinder Charter Subscriber, you must sign up for an ongoing month-to-month subscription before August 13th, when the first subscriber copies will go out.

Did no one else get this one?

That's a bug. If you look at that page now, you'll see a note that tell you it's a bug (which is easier to do than fixing the bug right now).

Pathfinder 1 arrived last week, and D2 and the Player's Guides arrived this morning. We're packing Pathfinders, Player's Guides, and Modules as quickly as we can, but Gary still hasn't finished the "half-mile of postage" code yet, so we're not actually shipping them just yet. Stay tuned...

OK, here it is nearly a week before street date and I'm wondering if the silly things have shipped yet. I did get some notice about Burnt Offerings and the Players guide to the Runelords saga being shipped to me at no cost to me, so should I be expecting my copies to Pathfinder to arrive next week as a subscriber? I wanna know so I can bugger over the first issue and see if I can adapt bits of it as a back-up in case my own adventures drops in Memphis next week at the Mephit Fur Meet.
