Hello All, Could not see a "say hello" area so here I am....

Just thought I should say hello. I am in my early 40’s based in the UK and have got back into RPGing after a long break. I have been playing F2F regularly for three years now (mid life crisis?) I enjoy D&D 5th edition, Pathfinder and Savage worlds (sci fi and fantasy). At heart though I am an old school player and hanker over less complicated days of AD&D (even with THAC0!). Back in the day I played many systems D&D AD&D, MERP, Traveler, Runequest, Paranoia, Warhammer RPG, Top Spy (I think?), Recon, Twilight 2000 Delta Squad, AD2000, Supers and so on.

Last few years I have been playing at a local club and with some friends I have made from the clubs and really enjoy it. Life is busy though with a job and young family and also fairly regular travel and I think the PBP format will allow me to play in games without having te commitment of being at a place and time.

Really hoping to play some Pathfinder, especially a Kingmaker game. I am currently running one (https://unrealkingdom.wordpress.com/) that I have heavily customised. I love the Pathfinder game but find the array of character classes bewildering, and imho unnecessary!

Bit nervous about playing pbp, and getting accepted into a game first of!!

Hello to you too,

I’m not much of a poster, more of a lurker and avid idea stealer, but UK, Early 40’s, Pathfinder... Snap!
I started playing in 89 in a 1st ed Ravenloft Campaign and I’m lucky enough to have been gaming ever since.
We play pathfinder exclusively now but we’ve played all editions of D&d through the years.

Welcome

Hi Ukogre,

thanks for popping by and saying hello!

Welcome to the boards, Oldstyle and UKOgre!

Greetings from Kansas! Soon to be from Dallas, where hopefully I may integrate into the PFS lodge there.

it's me

I've been wondering

if after all these years you'd like to meet;

to go over

everything

Er, I mean, welcome to the boards! Here's a big-ass guide if you want some tips on playing in a game, but people are generally really receptive to new players. Just do your best to follow the two big rules of PbPs:

1. Post proactively and often (even if you can't post more than once a day, try to be reliable about it!). Don't be one of the players waiting for other players to take the initiative—help the GM keep things moving!

2. When roleplaying, seek to give your fellow gamers room to elaborate on their own PCs before trying to elaborate on your own. Everybody wants to tell their story, after all.

So, basically, be lively and active and things can be a ton of fun. There are a lot of classes, but you only need to worry about as many or as few as you want. If you need help building a character, consider heading to the Pathfinder RPG Advice subforum and asking for help with a concept. People love crafting PCs there. Just be clear you don't want anything super complicated or they'll go way overboard. ;D

Just watch Recruitment and keep your eyes peeled! Good luck!

Have a thick skin as well. The community means well, but sometimes they come off as rude when they are simply trying to be efficient/helpful.

@Kobold Cleaver: Interesting intro; I almost rolled initiative/drew on you.
