Finally getting back to school. Finding out that the CCNA / CCNP will be internationally useable. The joys of waking up earlier (Combined with the fun times of working with 4 hours of sleep ~GRINS~) and having a semi-normal day! Having friends and family that like me, for some strange reason. ~grins~ Getting moved to the top of Sebastian's list, even though he has not told me why that event occured. ~Wicked, Evil Smile~

My sister gave birth to a brilliant baby boy! I'm an Uncle! *WOOT!* :)

Spent most of today with my buddy brewing some beer - a clone of Young's Double Chocolate Stout, and a batch of what my buddy called Kent's Ale, I believe. Good times.

Moving to Brooklyn on a (hopefully) permanent basis. It's not a cheap place, but I can swing it and I'll have a good sized room. Moving in with three other guys that I've never met before makes me more than a little nervous, but I'm hoping it will work out.

I got my birthday present a day early. And it's an easel!:) My husband keeps giving me this odd look and asking anxiously if I'm sure it really isn't a lame birthday present. He can't seem to understand my glee over my new toy.:)

I have a job and a roof over my head.

Nobody's shooting at me.

I washed my car last weekend, and changed the windshield wipers this weekend.

The paizo.com community is wonderful.

The new postal rates didn't require a ton of new code.

I've dropped thirty pounds since August.

No more cat puke.

Sorry, Gary. One of our cats (the female) had really bad teeth (we're softies and have a habit of picking up formerly abused pets), so the "momma's boy" cat used to eat way too much and throw up all over so that she could eat the softer food (like a Roman Vomitorium, but for cats). It's horrifying, but endearing in a way to see that kind of love and kindness. They both passed on within the last few years due to tainted cat food, leaving us with the two tabbies. There's a lot less puke around, but I'd trade back in a second.

My 7-year old, Harrison, is now solidly in the Lego phase of his childhood and he asks me to build with him all the time. I admit that I love that time we spend.

He tells me, "Dad, you're the best lego builder ever!"

My two year old likes dancing to TV theme songs. His current favorite is Buffy the Vampire Slayer. My wife and I borrowed all seven seasons from a friend and spent the last month or so watching them.

Xander would squeal with glee whenever the song started, he would pick up a foam sword he got for Christmas and then dance around the room pretending to kill invisible monsters.

I love these moments. Truly.

Taxes are over and done with.

My son = awesome.

Relationship with my wife is on a high note.

Still have a decent job.

Got a promotion and raise at work, so my convict a$$ is almost making what someone my age might normally make, so that's good.

Looking for a car (been "sharing" with the gf til now...) finally, so, again, good.

OwlCon is this weekend, and I'm running two PFS scenarios. This satisfies two of my favorite things: free stuff (T-shirt and pass for the con) and gaming. Definitely good.

Since a lot of you also adopted abused kitties, you'll appreciate this. Stella, our adopted black cat, is finally 100% acting like a cat. I caught her romping around in the basket my gf keeps her crocheting wool in, having a grand old time. She hasn't "played" like a cat since we got her (right before Ike), so we are pretty stoked now.

I'm being assaulted by a young black cat with gold or orange splotches. It's on my front porch, meowing for me now. Am I about to become a cat owner? Will all my reptiles get eaten in a couple of weeks when they come back out? Is this a good thing?

Stella and Puff (our bearded dragon) get along fine, so far. Of course, Puff is a little over two feet long (with tail) and puffs up with an impressive spike display when frightened, so I think Stella is a tad intimidated...

Yes.

These are free range Carolina Anoles, Texas Spiny Lizards, and some species of pinky geckos. I do not have confidence in their survival out there.

Ah, yard lizards. Gotcha. Yeah, when I lived in Florida, our house was a reptile refuge until the step-mom showed up a few weeks later with the cat. No more geckos or anoles. It was sad...

The upside was, of course, a lot less Palmetto bug activity. So, six of one...

Yep, to repeat someone else's comment from the drawing thread:

Me, at a Con: "...and Hugo was my Facebook friend way before he got famous!"

You will be if you feed it. The kind of cat you described is called a Tortoiseshell. They tend to be lovable cats and like calicoes, are almost always female. If you take it in you better be prepared for kittens or get her fixed.

Mrs. M forbade the feeding of it...but it seemed awful pitiful and persistent...kind of skinny...and milk isn't technically feeding it... :S

I'm moved in and it was largely painless. My twin sister took me on a tour of the neighborhood.

Her: "Here's a gay bar. Just in case you're interested."
Me: "Not really, but thanks anyways."
We walk a few blocks and pass a day care.
Her: "And here's where you can go to color if you want."

Raise.

10K per year.

I stayed up until midnight last night playing Chez Dork with some friends. Today, I spent the daylight hours walking across town with those same friends. Life is decent.

I found my house broken into...

A wake-up call for increase vigilance if you ask me.

Guard dogs. Good things.

Also with that raise, not exactly a promotion but a lateral movement into really cool work.

And the quad core 8 Gig monstrosity computer they gave me with a massive monitor and Adobe Creative Suite RULES!

Yah, it sucked when I got a real job and I couldn't spend all my time with my fandamily.

In June out of two exams I took, I failed one by 1%, which was a downer. I resat the exam in December, and I've got the result today- I passed. Yay! :-)

Yeah the 'good' side of us both being unemployed is we got a lot of quality time together. The down side is that our savings went 'bye bye!'

Art supplies!:) My list of things that were not available at the craft store had finally gotten to the point where I had to break down and go to the art store even though I knew I would leave broke. I always do. So I am now broke but happy, with plenty of watercolor paper, inkpens, and sketching pencils to keep me drawing.

I still have some character portraits in the queue, but I think I might try a comic. If it turns out really bad, well, then you'll never ever see it.:) But I now have enough supplies to give it a go.

Free money! Got a letter from a company I worked for almost ten years ago, just out of the blue today. Said I overpaid the six months I COBRA'd my health insurance; they sent me a check for the overpayment and, get this, interest on that money for the entire time since then!

Liberty's Edge

One of my best friends is getting married!

It's kind of funny, really. She's been dating the same guy since we were all freshmen in high school, and I've always teased her by saying "So, when's the wedding?" And now, today, she tells me that she's actually getting hitched.

Scarab Sages

After a few months break, my group finally got together to game again this Saturday past. It was just like old times.

Scarab Sages

I bottled my clone of Young's Double Chocolate Stout last night, and this morning I'm being entertained by a squirrel running arounf in the ceiling.

It's time for more posts to this thread!

In my teen years, I put together a number of compilation tapes, my favourite being one I made in August ’89. It had the following tracks:

* Hurting Kind (Robert Plant)
One Good Lover (Ratt)
Rag Doll (Aerosmith)
The Needle Lies (Queensryche)
Number of the Beast (Iron Maiden)
* Tonite (Def Leppard)
Blood of the Kings (Manowar)
Welcome Home Sanitarium (Metallica)
Paradise City (Guns’n’Roses)
Badlands (Metal Church)
Crystal Ann/Alison Hell (Annihilator)
Yankee Rose (Dave Lee Roth)
One (Metallica)
Two Minutes to Midnight (Iron Maiden; live version)
Red Sector A (Rush; live version)
Carry On (Manowar)
Queen of the Reich (Queensryche)

The two marked * were other songs originally; I think one of them was Photograph, by Def Leppard, but I can’t remember what the other one was.

A couple of years ago, I threw out pretty much all my old audio tapes; at a similar time, I sold all but three of my vinyl albums, so I couldn’t remake that tape even if I wanted to.
At some point last year, I tried finding that ’89 compilation, but couldn’t find it.

Anyway. I was looking for something else last night, and I found the tape- yay!

***********

Another Good Thing: One of my second cousins gets married in April. I have a number of second cousins on my Dad's side of the family, that I just don't know. I'm about 10 years older than them, so when I was younger I wasn't that much interested in getting to know them, as that's quite an age gap. But with this social occasion, this gives me the chance to get to know them all, so I’m looking forward to it.

***********

And another: One of the players in a PBEM game I ran last year and met at Gencon UK will be visiting in the week after Easter. Should be good fun!

Congrats and good luck, Shiny. May yours go better than mine.

Finished illustrations for Jonathan Jacobs' Open Game Table book, including something for the cover and he tells us the book is being picked up for distribution and review soon.

I'm part of the jack-of-all-trades outfit at work and I was by myself for three days in my department last week when, of course, the creative director comes in and says,"Guess what? Today you're a package designer!" So I built different boxes out of cardboard and acetate for three days with a hyper art director on too much coffee looking over my shoulder. The good thing? I did a good job for the head of my department and I kept on top of things until the week was through.

a) asked you
b) is hot
and
c) plays D&D
