Kharadad is your best work yet! Love it! -thumbs up-

That is all.

Liberty's Edge

Thanks!

If you like that, just wait 'till you see Traevantahl. :)

What will happen to the MoM in the future?

Aw, I was really hoping for an elephant graveyard... :(

Liberty's Edge

No elephant graveyards yet, but that is a setting I'd like to explore someday.

To answer the first question: I don't know yet what is going to happen with the Maps of Mystery after issue #150. I do know that I have far too many ideas waiting to be mapped out to let the feature fade away, so it will continue in some form.

I don't have any concrete info to offer yet, but there is a chance that the Maps of Mystery will continue as a part of Dungeon in its new incarnation at Wizards of the Coast. i don't know what they have planned any more than you do at this point, but the folks working on it include the very editors that hired me to do maps for Dungeon in the first place, and they have expressed an interest in continuing that relationship.

If that doesn't pan out (or even if it does), I may consider self-publishing individual maps on my website (when I get it updated) or in collected books of new maps, or both. There seems to be enough interest from the fans to make such a product successful, so it's only a matter of finding the time to work on the new maps.

The Maps of Mystery are certain to continue; I'm just not sure where.

count me in as a buyer. i'd love to have a big book of your maps. heck, you could even put one together right now with the volume of work you already have.

Wow, I'd love one of those books, even if there was no elephant graveyard in it. Thanks a lot for the information!

Fantastic! I've been an advocate for a book collecting your existing maps for some time. Including new maps within such a book would be awesome!

Mr. West, who's the editor to contact at WotC to solicit cartography work? Now that we're losing Dungeon, I'd like to try peddling my wares over there.

Liberty's Edge

I'm not sure I could publish a book of my previous work, since WotC owns the copyright. My contracts allow me to use them for portfolio-type purposes, but I'm unclear to what degree a collected book of my maps would fit into that definition. I'd really like to include plot hooks and game-relevant written content to accompany the maps. Descriptions of the ideas that were floating through my mind as I made a particular Map of Mystery--that sort of thing.

It's something I'm looking into.

Ashenvale: I'm really not sure yet. The folks I've been in touch with aren't Art Directors, as far as I know, and that's who you'd need to talk to to solicit work. Once they're able to tell me those kinds of details, I'll be able to let you know. Until then, I just don't know who to suggest.

Will you be doing any of the Pathfinder or Gamemastery maps?

Liberty's Edge

Yep. I've been involved with the first two GameMastery modules so far. :)

I fully understand. Thanks for the info! I'll try searching their website and hit the Art Director directly. Wish me luck!
