Missing Dragons 353 & 354

Customer Service

Ok, so you guys keep telling me that magazines sent to Canada seem to take longer than in the US< and I can accept that it might be an extra couple of weeks, but this isn't making any sense to me.

I _still_ haven't received Dragon 353 (March), nor have I yet to receive Dragon 354 (April). We all know the way magazines work. If a magazine says March on it, that means it is on the stands in February. So a magazine that was on the stands in February STILL hasn't arrived half way through April!

This isn't a one-time thing, it seems to happen almost every month. Again, you have already told me, and others, that it takes longer to ship to Canada, and I would be happy to believe you, except that my Dungeon subscription arrives on time without fail every month!

Why is there no problem sending me my Dungeon subscription, but there is a problem sending me my Dragon subscription?

I understand that they are printed and shipped at different times, and I'm starting to think that maybe I should ask you to hold my Dragon magazine and ship it with my Dungeon mag.

I'm always two Dragon issues behind my Dungeon issues. Maybe someone in distribution/shipping should contact the US postal service and/or Canada Post and see what the problem is.

Thanks

Hear, hear.

I am now two months behind. I just (today April 16th) recieved Dragon issue #355, but have yet to recieve issues #353 or #354. I'll post in the Dungeon section about those missing issues, but I'm two issues behind there also. Not really sure why I subscribe anymore? Issues are always late (well actually they just never show up). And I don't buy the excuse that it takes longer to ship to Canada when my local gaming shop always has the magazines on display before I get them through subscription - on those rare times when they do show up that is. I've asked before about subscritions that are not 2nd class mail, any chance of that happening?

Hear, hear.

I am now two issues behind. Today (April 16th) I recieved issue #355, but have yet to get issues #354 or #353 (I've subsequently purchased them from my local gaming store). I'll post in the Dungeon section about those issues being late. I'm not sure why I subscribe anymore. The service has alwasy been spotty at best, but has gotten much worse in the last few months. I don't buy the excuse that it takes longer to ship to Canada when my local gaming store has the issues out on display before i get mine in the mail - on those rare occasions when I do get it in the mail that is. I've asked before about NOT shipping the subscriptions 2nd class mail, any chance of that happening?

So, apparently I am not alone in this. I notice also in a nother thread that Charles Frizzell has a similar problem with his Dragon subscription, but not with his Dungeon subscription, just like me.

So, where are 353 and 354?

Thanks.

Liberty's Edge

Well I finally did receive issue 353, but alas i too have not received issue 354!
There are way to many of us out there whom are suffering from the same problem.
Here's hoping that it will be solved sometime soon... crossing fingers here!

Keep those dice rolling all!

I'm another Canadian dual-subscriber and that is exactly what is happening to me too (I was starting to fear someone was stealing them), the last Dragon I have recieved in the mail is #352

in fact Paizo was kind enough to send me another #353 as my subscribed issue was very late and the replacement hasn't arrived yet (that was almost a month ago)..I am also up-to-date with my Dungeon mags but the Dragon ones are MIA

(though I have recieved word that i have mail at home today, so my situation may change in a few hours)

We are very sorry to hear of your continuing problems with these subscriptions, and we are as mystified about it as you are.

We ship both of your magazines to the same address. Therefore if one magazine is reaching you, then the other should as well. Furthermore, all of the subscription copies of a given issue are shipped out at the same time and from the same place, so you would think that there would be very little variation in when they arrive.

However, once they are shipped we have no control over what happens to them when they enter the possession of the US Postal Service. As they are shipped via periodicals (read; bulk) rate, they are delivered on a "space available" basis. Which means that the first thing to be delayed, for any reason, will be the magazines. Furthermore, once a magazine which is being shipped via periodicals (read: low priority) rate crosses a border, goes through customs, and then enters the possession of Canada Post, we have even less control of delivery time. Keep in mind that each of these junctures is another opportunity for each individual magazine to be delayed, destroyed, misdirected, swiped, abducted by aliens, ransacked by malicious postal kobolds... Or any of a myriad of other problems than can arise when a huge number of items are traveling through an extremely complex system in as little time as possible.

Unfortunately, it is simply not cost effective to ship subscription magazines via any other means.

We are more than happy to send replacements for missing issues. But we want to make sure that the issues we sent replacements for are truly missing, and not just delayed. Therefore, we generally ask that you wait until you receive the next issue before we send a replacement.

So keep us informed. Please keep us posted on the arrival of your next issue and we can send you a replacement as needed.

Cosmo, thanks for the reply, but I've heard it before... the _last_ time I posted about my Dragon issues not making it.

Obviously I am not the only person in Canada with this problem (as evidenced by the other posts).

Also, it doesn't explain why my Dungeon is _never_ late, but my Dragon _is_.

I would be curious to see what would happen if both magazines were put together in the same plastic wrap when shipped to me.

Alternately, as I have suggested elsewhere, perhaps Paizo should look into giving Non-US customers coupons to pick up their issues from the store, instead of shipping us the issue. Then we could get it on time every month.

I'm in the same boat. I got the May issue yesterday (355) but have yet to see 353 or 354 so I believe they have been lost.

Unfortunately my Dungeon subscription lags behind too and I have yet to see 145 or 146.

I'll wait another 2 weeks for all of them (since I have reading material now :)) before requesting any replacements.

I've had to request replacements already 3 times between both subscriptions. I'll be switching to buying them from my FLGS after my subscriptions run out.

Cosmo - thanks for the reply. It is odd that so many of the same issue going to Canadian subscribers have gone missing. It's too bad there's not some way you could ship all the magazines in bulk to Canada and then have them be sent to the subscribers - fewer hands for the magazines to pass through would probably help the problem.

I'll let you know if the two issues in questions show up, but seeing as issue #355 has arrived I leave very little hope that #354 and #353 will show.

I received my copy of issue 354 today which wasn't too bad for time but the condition it was in was terrible. The wrap was literally half off as was the front cover and spine. I'm not sure which postal service to blame it on but I would like to blame someone that's for sure. It may be a low priority but it should still be treated with a little respect.

Well, I guess my ranting has forced the hand of the mail gods, as I _finally_ received issue 354.

However, I _still_ have not received issue 353.

I also see that others have already received 355, go figure, they have 355, and I only got 354 today. Still doesn't make sense to me. It would be nice if Paizo could look into what's happening. Maybe contact US Postal Service and Canada Post? I'm obviously not alone in this.

NEway... obviously 353 has gone kapoof, so if you could send me a new one, I'd be much obliged. Maybe we can take bets on how long it takes to get here. If I sound bitter, it's because I am. :-)

I live in the US, so my issues should arrive faster, right? Think again. I started my 6-issue Dragon subscripton almost 2 months ago & have yet to see ANY magazines.

Another thing is that when I signed up, it said my next (first) issue would be 353. I looked at my account a few days later & the number changed to 354. When I checked it again (two weeks ago), it stated my first issue was now 355. And my account still states I have 5 issues left in my subscription.

What gives?

just a quick update..my Dungeon #146 arrived yesterday (on time as usual) and so did the replacement #353 (which I am very thankful for, thank you) so my orginal #353 never came and my #354 is still MIA, we'll see if #355 arrives in the next few weeks..

Mr. Cosmo, as I mentioned in my post a bit above there, my issue # 354 finally arrived, but still no 353. Does that make it officially MIA now?

I apologize for having missed that post! It does make the issue officially missing and I will get a replacement shipped out as soon as possible.

Thanks!

Well at least I can feel better about not being the only Canuck with this problem. Obviously there are a few of us in this rickety boat. Yesterday I just received both my 354 and 355 at the same time, however 353 is MIA for me aswell.

Out of curiosity, Deimodius what neck of the woods are you in up here? I'm in Toronto and I'm wondering if the post problem is local or not.

Cosmo if you or someone else from CS could drop me a line about a replacement that would be grand.

Yep, something is screwy with those issues to Canada. I called customer service a couple of times (I was willing to give it a nice long wait just in case). They don't really know what the problem is (could be customs or misplaced mail bags) but in any case, they are very good about sending out replacement copies. Mine should be arriving in a few weeks as I didn't get issues 353 or 354 either, but today I got 355. Weird. At worst, I get my replacement copies a few weeks late. At best, I end up with duplicates too.

Ok, ask and ye shall receive. Cosmo, cancel my last. In a bizarre twist my 353 just showed up in my mailbox this morning. Yay for me!

Paizo Employee Director of Sales

Recondiac,

Thanks for the notice! Better late then never, I guess... Keep us informed about the delivery of your subsequent issues.

Debihuman,

I just checked your subscription and it appears that you've got replacements on their way.

Both,

It looks like you both will have some issues left over, so remember to swing by paizo.com/transition and explore your options for the remainder of your subscriptions.

Thanks,
cos

I also have not yet received my Dragon 353 (March) or 354 (April) but I received my Dragon #355 (May)... What gives? My Dungeon subscription is up to date at the moment... except for May... Why is Dragon the one that is having issues (No pun intended).

Deimodius wrote:

I seem to have it the other way - I always get my Dragon on time, but my Dungeon never arrives on time. In fact, I've already had to have a couple of issues replaced, and I bought a replacement copy of 142 'cause I feel bad asking for free ones. However, I have now had 146 for a week or so, but never recieved 145. I was planning to replace it with some of my magazine credit for Dungeon's cencellation, but if I can put out an MIA, then I shall try that.

Not that it matters any more, I suppose, but I did email Canada Post to ask them about it and they have promised to investigate. If I _ever_ hear back from them, I'll let you know what they say.

I recieved my #355 this past friday (yeah!) so my 354 never arrived... hopefully this Canadian glitch is shipping is over!

I too am waiting for 355- its been over three weeks since the ship date to me in the US. Any help from customer service would be appreciated.

Dark Archive

Got Dungeon 145 & 146 in the mail today :) Here's hoping Dungeon 353 & 354 show up soon too.

Liberty's Edge

An update.

I got my Dragon #353 and Dungeons #146 this week but still have not received Dragon #354; although I got #355 last week.

My replacement copy is on the way. Y'all are fast, and I've always been happy with Paizo's customer service. Thanks.

Sorry to be a "me too", but I have also not received these two issues. I have, however, received the May and June issues.

Thanks in advance for the support.
