Hallowed be Thy Name ~ Iron Maiden

So, the second time I took Junior English in high school, the teacher gave us some contest where we had to write an X-word story (I don't remember the number).

I didn't win, but the kid who did didn't want to read it in front of the class, so, I volunteered. So, I get the page and start reading:

"I'm waiting in my cold cell, when the bell begins to chime..."

I looked up, kept my cool, and finished reading it. Afterwards, I walked over to give the kid his paper and was all like, "So, you like Maiden, huh?"

Hee hee!

I didn't tell, because a) I don't rat; and b) I used to turn in Smoking Popes and Screeching Weasel songs for poetry assignments in Creative Writing class. School sucks!

That sorta sucks though cause you actually did the assignment and he didn't do crap. That would piss me off especially if I put in the time to do the assignment and worked hard to win. I mean ... he won its not like he just got a decent grade he actually won the contest. I guess perhaps I am a little too competative.

Temple of the Dog "Pushin forward back"

Is it strange I actually like Temple of the Dog more than I like Pearl Jam or Sound Garden.

1st post: I spent high school failing all of my classes anyway. Until I became a commie; they straightened me out. They even made me go to college, the bastards, but as soon as I quit their party, I dropped out.

School sucks!

2nd post: Yeah, a little.

So the communist party made you go to college? The bastards.

What college?

You know for someone so learned as well as who spends so much time reading to not like school so much is perhaps a little strange? Or perhaps understandable. I finished college and enjoyed learning and going to class but I hated the tests. I suppose because of my ADD ADHD had alot to do with that.

Well never claimed nor wanted to be normal it is over rated.

I will be strange and say that I like temple of the Dog more than Pearl Jam or Sound Garden.

Nah, school was a blast ... would be a professional student if I could afford it. But alas, RL does not allow for permanent student status ... unless you are independently wealthy or fall into an endless stream of scholarships and grants. <sigh>

Oh yeah:

Pablo Picasso Johnathan Richmond and the Modern Lovers
Good Guys and Bad Guys Camper Van Beethoven
Nazi Punks F$$@ Off Dean Kennedys

It's been an 80's retro kinda morning ...

However Much I Booze The Who ... man, I love this track

Camper Van Beethoven agrees: School Sucks!

So do The Modern Lovers

Also, I clicked on the link to the DKs and I was amused that it told me I had to be 18+ to listen to the song, even though the page says "F*#*" twice and the song is available elsewhere, including live in the studio. Or maybe the video's has got stuff? Whatever, I'm not creating a youtube account.

Man, that's what I get for having an account for work ... never have to worry about the blocks. ;)

You could always just create a bogus gmail account ... just sayin'. ;)

Is there anything cool in the video?

[Puts on raybans]

Because I was into the Dead Kennedys before they were cool.

[Actually not, they were broken up before I was old enough to hear them.]

Actually, come to think of it, one of the few times my father laid hands on me was when I was taunting him with the words to Religious Vomit.

Ah, good times.

Nah, not really. Displayed lyrics, etc.

EDIT: and this was music from my teen years ... now I feel old. ;)

Except for Mr. Shiny, who's, like, a baby!

This video's awesome,

but I've got to hear Linda sing it

My son's friend Popey try to convince him that Insane Clown Posse and Twizted are the greatest groups in not just rap history, but of all time. My son's not buying it.

You mean you prefer his voice, or you prefer the (lack of) arrangement? Or both?

More the arrangement. It's really stripped-down, which is frequently good.
