89.3 The Current a local alt station here in the TC is playing listener submitted suggestions for the top 893 essential artist of all time. Basically folks were able to submit 10 of their most essential artists. The results were tabulated into a list of 893.

Started this am and will be going until next Thursday. Its been some great radio so far. Mostly old folk/blues artists and foreign stars with a splash of contemporary musicians. Cant wait to get further into the list and hear how the music styles change!

Was just doing some random reading on Debbie Harry and Chris Stein.

A) She's 72 now; he's 67. B) Even though I think of them as a couple, Harry and Stein split up in 1989 because he wanted to settle down and have children and she didn't.

It's odd to think that they've been broken up longer than I've even been aware of them and I always thought they were still together until this evening.

Oh well. Apparently, she's his kids' godmother.

The Currents 893 essential artists coming down the pike. More than a little sad that Leonard Cohen was 52 and Tom Waits was 45 (two of my picks) Velvet Underground being 36 makes sense tho. Its getting down to the wire and I'm stoked for the top ten tonight. Ill be annoyed if Nirvana takes #1 like it did last year for 893 essential albums.....

I have never listened to Dragonforce, and I tend to think they wouldn't be my cup of tea, but...

A long-haired union brother whom I have seen for years but never really worked with said to recently, "DRAGONFORCE!!!" and I was, like, "Huh?" and he said, "Oh, just every time I see you, I think to myself 'DRAGONFORCE!!!'"

I missed my calling and should have been a heavy metal musician.

A gaming group of mine makes fierce fun of Dragonforce.....but they also know all the lyrics and upcoming solos. Quite entertaining I must say.
