Liberty's Edge

I've never been so utterly depressed by a movie before in my life, only to be driven to laughter at the cheesy ending. It's the weirdest emotional 180 degrees I've ever encountered.

Please. Don't waste 2 hours and 18 minutes of your life. I have no agenda in saying any of this, other than I feel it is my duty to warn people when a movie is this bad. I really wanted to like this movie.

Liberty's Edge

Oh, and I'm sure it goes without saying, BUT if you are in a relationship in the formative period, where bizarre situations can derail it, DO NOT SEE THIS MOVIE WITH YOUR DATE.

Scarab Sages

There be spoilers below, matey...

I just saw this movie and i have just one word to describe it...PAINFUL!. That movie really hurt to watch and it dragged, and dragged and dragged. The main character was impaled through the waist, another arrow into his chest, which he promptly broke off with its point still inbedded, could outrun a jaguar. Even with all these hurdles, the character was still able to run 12 hours and take out 6+ seasoned warriors.

Silver Crusade

Thanks for the warning. I had no intention of seeing it anyway. I'm not giving Mel Gibson my eight dollars. Anyone who watches South Park knows what happens when you try to get your money back from Mel Gibson.

Okay, it wasn't the best movie in the history of cinema, but kudos to Gibson for trying- I'd rather see a well intentioned and original failure, then most of the sub-literate, explosive muck Hollywood squeezes from it's tinselly colon.

Yeah, I'm lookin' at you Tom Cruise, ya loonie.
As for getting my money back, I'll let Mel keep my couple of bucks, he'll need them to build his shelter once the Rapture passes him over.

Three words: Stupidest. Ending. Ever.

Yes, it is a stereotypical Mel Gibson epic that celebrates physical toughness and salvation through violence. Yes, it is a "message" movie that contains no comprehensible message. However, beyond that, I actually found it to be a bit better than I feared (though I feared the worst). Though incredibly violent, I never felt that the violence was overly gratitious or pointlessly sadistic - insted, it drove home some salient points about conflict and society. The sequences from the slavers' city were rather good, the baddies were suitably nasty and the cinematography and soundtrack were well made - all in all, it was OK. I need more tattoos now...
