Anyone Else Change Rowyn? (Spoilers)

Even though I'm not running STAP any time soon (probably; it depends on how long the group continues with AoW), I made some changes to Rowyn in TINH and tSWW.

In TINH I just changed her skills and one spell; I find it unbelievable that the leader of a thieves guild wouldn't have ANY ranks in Appraise, Gather Information, Hide, or Move Silently. Also, with her ranks in Sleight of Hand, she doesn't need the cantrip Prestidigitation (Read Magic would make more sense).

For tSWW, I made her a Rog 3/Brd 4/Asn 1 (and switched her scroll to Summon Monster III/Fiendish Crocodile). The biggest changes are the tactics she uses in Seduction 2; instead of casting Hold Person and performing a coup de grace, she studies the character for a Death Attack and uses Sleight of Hand to steal a weapon before striking.

The changes fit her plot role (and personality) better, I think. After her defeat in TINH, she spent her time training to become an assassin so she can get her revenge on the PCs.

Giving Rowyn some assassin levels isn't a bad idea. As for her original writeup... the main reason she has Prestidigitation isn't because she can use it to snatch things. It's more of a grooming spell for her. She may be a mistress of a thieves' guild, but she's also a noblewoman who spends a lot of time living underground; prestidigitation's a great spell for keeping from being too dirty or smelly. Or for changing the flavor of your food, for that matter.

She's not really a sneaky type either; that type of work is for her minions. She's not a street thief, after all. A leader of a guild needs the charisma skills more than skills like hide and move silently, anyway. She probably should have had Gather Information, I suppose, but it's not completely necessary. And I'm of the opinion that Appraise is a bad skill for the game; just adds needless complexity, so I generally don't give NPCs ranks in it out of habit.

It's a preference issue. Her original write up in TINH just didn't make sense to me as a crime lord, but since her skills (other than Bluff and Tumble) were not part of the scenario, I left it alone. When I made the decision to give her an Assassin level in tSWW, I went back and re-did her TINH skills so she could qualify (4 ranks Hide and 4 ranks Move Silently in TINH, otherwise she wouldn't be able to meet the prerequisites in two bard levels).

I didn't quiet make her an assassin I had to up her levels as my party also was slightly higher level.

Ouch, an invisible assasin roaming the ship... they better figure out whats going on QUICK, or you could have a TPK on your hands...death attack can be extremly nasty.

Escape artist man! For the love of Pelor, why does grappling kill so many villains dead?!?! And concentration! Spellcasters need concentration!

Would you still have your statblock for badass Rowyn anywhere? My party are tough as nails and she barely escaped when they trashed her HQ. Now they're getting the ship ready :-)
