I am getting ready to start SCAP sometime soon and this is my first campaign set in Greyhawk. I was wondering what year is most appropriate to start SCAP?
I started mine on Patchwall 5, 592 CY

I too am getting ready to start SCAP. Tonight in fact. Our game starts in the year 589 CY. This puts it a few years behind Living Greyhawk Campaign but I dont think that is a big deal.
I think you could start the Cauldron Campaign off in 500 CY if you wanted....
You might want to try to find a copy of the Gazetteer on Ebay or Amazon or the Paizo PDF downloads. (dont know if they have the Gazetteer on there are not)

I have been researching this question for my own run of SCAP campaign.
As it has been stated before the Age of Worms Adventure Path begins in the year 595CY.
SCAP begins before this date and I would place it in either mid/late 593CY or early 594CY. From the following reference in Dungeon #130, The Spire Of Long Shadows:
"In one prophacy, it predicts the "ruin by fire of a city built in a bowl in the spire's shadow.' Just last year, far to the south, the city of Cauldron-built in the caldera of a dormant volcano only a few miles from Kyuss' one-time home, the Spire of Long Shadows-was nearly destroyed by a volcanic eruption." There is an easy formula you can use to determine when any "Greyhawk" adventure takes place within the framework of the campaign timeline.
Take a look at the last digit of the real-world year in which the adventure was published. Put a 5 and a 9 in front of it to determine the corresponding Greyhawk Common Year.
The Savage Tide, which began in 2006, is set in 596. The Age of Worms, on the other hand, began in 2005 and is set in 595 CY. Most (if not all) of the Shackled City is meant to be set in 594 CY.
All that said, you can set any adventure in whatever year works best for your campaign.
