Hey all. I'm wondering if someone can help me. In an up coming section of the adventure path the party is going to find a piece of the Rod of Seven Parts. Now in the boxed set (that would be the boxed set of the Rod of Seven Parts) it's stated that the Queen of Chaos will send her wolf-demons to attack the party when they find a piece of the rod, and the same thing is suggested in the adventure path. I'm wondering if anyone knows where I can find details on a 3.5 wolf demon? If memory serves there were four different demons. I was a little surprised that these demons were not mentioned in the adventure path - but maybe there are legal issues and what not, or just space limitations. Any help would be great.

The adventure has not been converted to 3.5, I think you can take existing demons and make some modifications, I remember that some of them throwed webs and had a wolfish/spiddery look in 2.0 edition when we played it.
You can also use the creation method for Hordlings given in one of the last Dungeon.

The Creature Catalogue at enworld has the wolf-spiders updated for 3.x. Check it out here: http://www.enworld.org/cc/converted/
Thank you very much. This is exactly what I was looking for. I'll have to convert them to 3.5, but that should be no problem at all. Again, thanks.

I did a search on the Rod of 7 Parts.
One reviewer complained that the boxed set had 2 parts in the
same place. Maybe this new vesion fixes that.
Here's a site about artifacts

Use the image as a handout when they look at the carpet in
the wizard sages den.
I know I'm going to.
Wolf Spider demons are sweet for when players whine that they
want enough XPs to go up a level.
The Lawful Good monk is going to collect the rod parts.
You can't have the Rod and a Weapon of Legacy both.

The spyder-fiends aren't in the Age of Worms because, frankly, I thought they were kind of dumb, and I didn't want numerous random encounters to detract from the overall campaign storyline, of which the Rod of Seven Parts is only a minor part.
I mean, honestly. Why is spider spelled with a "y"? Do they drive convertibles?

i thought i saw that recently in one of the AoW modules...
"Gathering of Winds" in Dungeon #129 states "The powers of the remaining fragments (as well as the resonating powers possessed by the reconstructed rod) can be found on page 154 of the Arms & Equipment Guide. Grr!
I don't have that book, but I'd really reeealllly like the stats on the Rod of Seven Parts.

The Rod is detailed in the 3.0 Arms and Equipment Guide.
I was hoping for some spider-fiends or perhaps Miska in Age of Worms. It shouldn't be difficult adding them to the campaign. There's that devil ambush in one of the more recent issues. Switch it up and add spider-fiends if you like.
I'm probably going to do that. Use the Enworld link above. It's all there.

I'm in the process of converting them to 3.5. They will be a little different than as listed in the Rod of Seven Parts boxed set, but they should work out just fine.
When you finish, would you email me at kalin_phoenix @ hotmail.com? I'd really appreciate it!
Love the idea of the Rod, don't love the idea of buying an entire book for one artifact's stats...

It occurs to me that the the rod would make a great tie in once the adventure path is complete. What better epic level adventure could there be than searching the lands for the rest of the pieces (or getting them back from the Queen of Chaos). What if Miska is released upon the world and the war between law and chaos erupts once more? Good stuff.

I've taken a look at what is in the Arms and Equipment Guide, and, well, it sucks. Not very true to the original. So, I'll be reworking this, alot, from the original. Once I have something I'll email it out to you.

The stats from the Arms and equipment guide IMO make a little more sense with the history of the item than the 1st edition DMG's way of having the DM assign 6 powers to the pieces and then 6 more powers to the whole thing once it is all put together.
I'd have liked to seen a reference to Miska/Queen of Choas and what not but as it is it is almost one side of one page by itself.

Yes, that may be true, but the description of the item, its powers and how to unlock them, was exhaustively covered in the boxed set of The Rod of Seven Parts. That should be the basis for any upgrade to 3.5, in my opinion.

the boxed set has great stats for the Rod, but (I'll agree with Mr. Mona here) the wolf-spyders as presented aren't my cup of tea.
that, plus the fact that my players would laugh out loud at their appearance, would definitely make me re-work them before presenting them IMG... i've been thinking about replacing them with some fiend-y aberration-y nasty monsters. we shall see --
-- peace is for the conquered!
