Order of the Stick in Dragon 339?

Dragon Magazine General Discussion

The cover of Dragon 339 advertises an OotS strip, however, no where in the magazine was the comic. Was this intentional or was the comic inadvertently left out?

It's actually in there, albeit in a three-panel "short" cartoon format that we had originally intended for the strip (with the first full-pager merely being a larger introduction to the Order of the Stick). The first cartoon proved so popular with the staff, however, that we almost immediately reversed ourselves and decided to run it as a full page every month, but by then one three-panel strip had already been created.

The strip shifts to its permanent full-page home in issue #340.

In issue #339, the shorter Order of the Stick can be found on the last page of the Creature Catalog.

We've actually come up with the clever idea of putting sequential numbers on the bottom of the pages so that one might be able to reference content without respect to other content. Under this system, one might simply refer to it as "page 65." We hope this concept catches on with the kids.

The name we are tossing around for this feature is "numerical pagination designation," or, as the hip folks might say, "NPD." Catchy, no?

I didn't have the magazine with me at home when I made that post.

You don't keep the latest issue on you at all times?

I usually staple mine to my hip.

I'm not that dedicated. :P

What?! I would hope you buy several extra copies to keep in mint condition for your collection. I, of course, value my Dragons so highly that I would never sully one by actually reading it...

page 65
