Finally took the time to completely read through dizzyk's conversions last night, and the thorough look at 'em confirmed the good impression I had when first glancing over them.

They are outstanding. My favorite changes are to the militia (perfect fit for that House!), Tirra (I'm now brewing ideas for some Sharn side-quests involving her and her affiliated group), and the Faceless One (finally, a logical place to plug in that race!). Oh, and Felgus is the shiznit; now you've got me wanting to play one of those when/if I ever get to play in Eberron! No small feat to pull we away from my long-held concept of a Medani Bard/Extreme Explorer.

I don't have any hope of converting "Blackwall Keep" in such a pitch-perfect way, but if you want someone with whom to toss around ideas or assistance in checking stats or whatnot, I'd like to help in return for you offering the previous installments to your fellow DMs.

Thanks! Glad you’ve enjoyed. My hope is to wrap up the TFoE conversions in the next couple of weeks, and then I’ll move on to Blackwall Keep. I’ll let you know when I’m ready to start bouncing ideas around.

Oh, and double-checking of stats is always appreciated. It’s really easy to miss things/mess up on math when doing so many of these NPCs. Send me an email with any mistakes you note (on the ones that aren’t still “unfinished”).

I’ve just sent to Malkari, modenstein17, and Jarrod (though it sounds like Jarrod may be WAY ahead of where I’m at). Let me know if any of you don’t receive them.

The most significant change I made recently was to Magepoint. I've made it the de facto headquarters of the Chamber, an island off the north coast of Argonnesson. It's inhabited by many different races, mostly dragonblood races from the Race of Dragons (I bought it before the adventurers made it to Magepoint; couldn't resist :). Manzorian himself is a Red Dragon Archmage, while I replaced Agath the librarian with the ghost of a human Sovereign Host cleric. Cymria is a Dragonborn of Eberron, while the newest member of the party is a Dragon Prophet and one of Manzorian's favored pupils.

On their way there the players had a bet going that Manzorian was a dragon... but the looks on their faces when they realized almost EVERYONE there was a dragon was priceless.

For me, you don't need to change much to make the AoW fit into Eberron. I accomplish it mostly by changing the locations of the adventures, adding Eberron flavored critters, blurring the line on alignments, and highlighting the Eberron organizations that are taking a part, for good or ill.
-The Trust, the Lord of Blades, House Vol, House Thuranni, various cults of the Dragon Below, and the Children of Winter are all aligned against the PC's in one form or another.
-In their corner stand House Denieth, the Greensingers, the Gatekeepers, the Dreaming Dark, Sora Kell, and the Silver Flame.
-The Lords of Dust and the Chamber, as the principle meddlers in this plot, are on both sides.

As for locations and critters, see below.

(the following is cut/paste from my post on the Kings of the Rift thread.)

One of the key aspects of Eberron for me is the global nature of the setting, so yes, globetrotting is already going on:

WC/TFoE: Breland, along the Droamm/Aundair border. Silver Lake saw a lot of the fighting durring the war, and the mine managers siezed power after Thronehold

EaBK: Q'barra, duh

HoHR/TCB: Sharn. These two see the most revision, switching most of the 'gangers with changlings, the drow with dolgaunts, and the flesh golems of the leatherworks with 'forged titans. Other than that, switching names and places to fit with S:CoT is easy. Eligos is a Provost of Morgrave University. After the frame, the PC's are contacted by the Boromar Clan, who explain that a cell of the Tyrants has been infiltrated by Dask. Everyone wins if the Hall sees some bloodshed, except Dask and Xyrzog, that is... The Boromers are wrong, Dask has no hand in this plot, and Xyrzog is working for the Dragon Below. The Boromar's also serve as the PC's backers for the tourney.

-on a side note, the "Zombie Beetle Swarm" critter (I am getting the name wrong, the book is out in my car) from S:CoT is deliciously Kyuss flavored, and makes for a great scare while looking for Xyrxog's lair.

AGoW: Silver Lake, again

SoLS: Manzorian is a 1337 dragon, agent of the Chamber, and member of the Arcane Congress in Aundair. His "fortress" is a series of chambers tucked into one of the floating towers of Arcanix. The Spire itself is the original site of Katashka's imprisonment, and lies deep in the jungles of Xen'Drik. Kyuss was a human religious leader/explorer at the time of Lhazaar, who landed on Xen'Drik and build his colony in the crater that happens to hold Katashka. Following visions is not always a good idea.

PoR: Alhaster is in the Lhazaar Pricinpalities, as sugested. I've nixed the Avolakia in favor of the necro-shasa's, and our reoccurring bard is a spy for the Sisters of Sora Kell, at least at first ;)

LoLR: The entry is the fabled Cave of Vvarak in the Shadow Marches. I'm replacing the Titan, who doesn't seem to mesh well with the setting, with a CR 20 Daelkyr. Very Eberron, very druid prison, and far more likely to get an "oh, crud" out of my players.

KotR: This lies in the mountains overlooking the great desert on Xen'Drik. Too many giants to put it anywhere else. I'm adding another large group of dragons. Dragotha has his followers, but Argonessen wants the phylactery as well, to put Dragotha's madness and corruption down, again. Dragons fight giants, giants fight dragons, dragons fight dragons, everyone fights the PC's.

WCF: This is going to be in the Shadowcrag Mountains on the border of the Eldeen Reaches and the Wastes. Even I can't bring myself to subject the PC's to the Wastes in good conscience.

The final battle, as printed, takes place in Alhaster.

To make this all possible, the PC's have come into posession of a new airship, equiped with the prototype Cannith teleporter-drive, which will teleport the entire ship, assuming that the PC's take the time to figure out how it works..

Anarch of Eberron

Dizzyk, I would really appreciate those NPC stats. I am going to start an Eberron AOW this summer. They would really speed things up for me. Thanks ahead of time.

Have you thought of starting a paypal account and starting up business as a conversion master?? (hmm sounds like a d20 modern prestige class)

my email is heathwilder@hotmail.com

Just getting ready to start 3FoE in Eberron, and after all the rave reviews, I'd like to see what you've done, Dizzy...could you perhaps drop them to ruggervt@yahoo.com ?

Thanks! Looking forward to checking them out!

I would like a copy too, okuth0r@yahoo.com please, wish there was aplace to host it so you didnt get bothered soo much. Thanks.

Kudos, to dizzyk and the others for trying to convert AoW to Eberron.

I'm an Eberron fan and I wanted to run AoW, but reading the further adventures I'm having a hard time getting it to jive with the Eberron cosmology and backstory.

dizzyk's and others writings have gone a long way toward making me think it could actually be done and done very well.

I'd love a copy of your conversion notes, dizzyk, if you'd be so kind ( evilturnip at gmail dot com ).

I would also love the conversions.

Hey gunni nice to see you like the AoW (i work at a game store and sold him the first magazine) :)

It's not likely to happen, but it'd be nice to see expanded Eberron conversion notes in the Age of Worms hardcover.

Dizzyk, if you could send the conversions you've done so far my way, it would be greatly appreciated!

I am actually doing something similar. Most of my changes are just tweaks to creatures, like using a side encounter with some dust stuffed opponents (from the Explorer's Handbook)

One thing I noticed while looking through five nations is that there is a hamlet in Breland call Mistmarsh. It sits on the southern tip of Mistmarsh swamp, which reaches to the nearby Faded Forest. The marsh has a portal to Mabar that opens on the tenth night each month and the swamp becomes a manifest zone in the month of Sypheros.

After reading that, I decided to set EaBK there. The keep protects the hamlet and serves as reserve troops for the forces at Sterngate.

I'm currently adapting 3FoE, using many of the suggestions offered here. One thing I'm trying to do is consolidate encounters to make the occur less often but with greater intensity.

In the Labrynth of the Shadow area, I'm toying with the idea of a cloud of Living Hideous Laughter rolling around the labrynth. When the PCs are trying to be stealthy around the kenku, they'll have another thing to worry about :)

Incidentally, to consolidate the Trickery encounters, I'm moving almost all the tieflings and clerics into the large room with the balcony. I've replaced the worshippers in area 3 with human commoners, and am going to have them "attack" the players in conjunction with the skeletons. This should prove to be a nice hack-n-slash chopfest for the players, which will hopefully make them overconfident for the rest of the adventure.

I'll add mine to the mix--could you send your conversions to white@curlytops.org?

I would really appreciate those NPC stats, could you send to me?
Sorry by the spelling errors.

Dizzyk what program do you use? i like the setup alot and whould like to aquire it.

BTW thanks alot for the conversions i love them. I was thinking of changeing the Lurking Strangles for a living Sleep spell? any thoughts? i also had 2 iron defenders instaid of the wolfs out fron in the wispering cairn. Any ideas to replace the ghoul in the water?

I'd think about some horrid animals rather than iron defenders. Iron defenders imply some sort of spellcaster who created them, and this will raise questions about who/where the caster is, as well as why they are still defending when the caster is long gone. Some horrid badgers or weasels could really make the Eberron feel come home.

I do like the idea of a living spell in place of the lurking strangler.

Just reading through the board has given me a lot of ideas for how to add to my Eberron game. One prestige class that has been getting a lot of mileage in the campaign is the Cataclysm Mage from Magic of Eberron; they're focused on the different Ages and the cataclysms that ended or created them.

Dizzyk, if you could shoot those conversions my way I'd appreciate it.

How about a Mark of Worms? I have sevral ideas about that...

1. The Players start manifesting Mark of Worms tieing them together instaid of the Vaati bloodline story....

2. The Mark of Worms is what happens to someone that has a dragonmark that survives a kyuss worm. Cults of the Ebon Triad start infecting shipments of wine and potions to Dragonmark houses to cripple the houses and cause general confusion....

I plan on corrupting my Wizard with the Mark of Passage this way...

Can you shoot me a word document with the stat block conversions?

I would love to find a copy of the conversionsin my inbox too:

This has been the single best ready-to-use resource I've found through these forums, so seems a good place to tack on the stew of conversion ideas I've put together for our own campaign. The following was posted just a minute ago over at the WotC Eberron forums, but figured it'd be helpful to share the fruits of many seeded ideas here, too, since it was y'all who shared those seeds.

"At the core of the changes for our game, I'm having the Wind Dukes be much more prominent than they are, and with a stronger tie to the fall of Katashka specifically.

Who's Katashka? One of the Overlords served by the Lords of Dust, and an entity to which the powerful spellcaster Kyuss bound himself. He's mentioned in some web-articles authored by Keith Baker as well as the Dragon magazine article on the Lords of Dust. In our game, I've established Kyuss as a member of the fallen House of Vol (with a Siberys Mark of Death) who led a group of loyal Aereni cultists to what is today Q'barra, where he ultimately sacrificed all of them and offered his body as a vehicle for Katashka.

The connection to the early adventures? As per Keith's conversions, the Wind Dukes were elemental allies of the dragons and couatl that bound the Overlords. Instead of the Rod of Law (Seven Parts), though, I introduced the artifacts of good (stats in the Arms & Equipment Guide) that were most recently referenced in the Players Guide to Eberron. So, the statue of Icosiol in Nadroc's workshop bore a stone replica of the Orb of Good (I renamed it the Orb of the Wyrms) instead of the rod, with weapon stats equivalent to a masterwork orc shotput (also in Arms & Equipment Guide, I think). They'll eventually recover the Orb from Icosiol's tomb in "A Gathering of Winds".

Oh, and the goggles of minute seeing? Those are actually Nadroc's Lenses, an item of power using rules from Weapons of Legacy. I'm working on the premise that even before the goblinoid empire settled in the area of Sharn, it was the focal area of the Wind Duke's presence on Eberron (thus, the tie to Syrania) and actually contained towers constructed by Nadroc and other Wind Duke architects. His spiritual force is one of the things that sustains the manifest connection to the Syrania. This could lead to some interesting occurrences during the events of the "Hall of Harsh Reflections" and "Champion's Belt", especially for whoever wears the circlet of Zosiel. Perhaps the heroes will meet some Wind Duke spirits.

In the Chamber of Sighs at the end of "Whispering Cairn", one of the final scenes will show Icosiol specifically attacking Katashka with the Orb of the Wyrms. Some might prefer that these sort of "fated" connections not exist. For me, they're fun, and lead to knowing smiles and nods from players when all the cards are finally on the table.

Sure, many of these adaptations will not be immediately experienced in the first couple of adventures, but I had to have it mapped out so that I could properly respond to Knowledge checks and the like, and so that--as mentioned above--I could weave a more intricate, connected story with the players and their characters."

Here are my conversion notes. Started w/ dizzyk's, and went from there.

=Vaati=
Elemental air outsiders, as written in Baker's conversions. The air frescos in the true tomb displayed
• A: Dragons and couatls fleeing fiends; come to the home of the Vaati
• B: A legion of Vaati warriors, each with a symbol, lead by a large figure (Icosiol), kneel before a host of dragons and couatl
• C: A group of seven Vaati and dragon's forge and hold forth what seems to be a staff of pure dragonshard. The light changes and the staff seems to be in seven parts.
• D: Great battle of Ashtakala: Couatl's sing down the walls, Wind Dukes and other fight. Icosiol plunges the staff into a wolf/spider looking-like creature---both disappear

=Rod of Seven Parts=
You mean the *Dragonshard* of Seven Parts. Before it was the Dragonshard Rod---one of the largest, single piece Khyber shard ever. After all, if you can bind a fiend with a Khyber shard, imagine what a *really* big shard would do...

=The Ebon Triad=
The Ebon Traid is the false cult started by Lashona as part of her scheme to free Kyuss/Katashkla. The idea was to (1) distract potential enemies [Vol] and (2) create a force to draw attention away from the Kyuss cults.

The Ebon Traid's teachings, as laid out by The Way of the Ebon Triad, suggest that the three aspect of the death religions in Eberron---The Blood of Vol, the Shadow, and the Keeper---are just splinters from a larger, primordial source. The culmination of the Ebon Triad's purpose is to create a living embodiment of their faiths---a creature of belief so powerful that it could reinstitute the House of Vol and rule the Dead of the land as well.

The Ebon Triad has been working towards this goal for some time, and feels that the Age of Worms is just the last step. In this step, the powerful being known as Kyuss will be returned, and this return will be the last step to usher in the Age of Worms and create the mystical state needed to create their ultimate being.

The dragons of the Chamber know the Ebon Triad to be a false religion, but are not exactly clear for what purpose they serve. Believers of the sects are outcasts from the primary faiths of each religion.

=Groups in the 3FoE=
Given the conversion of the Ebon Triad as above, here are the three groups:
- Hextor: Blood of Vol contingent, protected by Karrnathi undead and Emerald Claws
- Vecna: The Shadow, lead by a twisted Warforged Dread Necromancer (Unarmored Body Feat, so no face). A broken experiment by the Lord of Blades, fell into obsession with the undead, death magic, and living spells. Worships the Shadow in the hope of becoming the first intelligent Warforged undead. Has control of Living Spells (as recommended elsewhere in this thread); I'm going to get rid of those damned kenkus.
- Ethrynul: The Keeper, embodied by mislead dolguant cultists (minds warped by Lords of Dusts in the employ of Katashkla)

=Ebon Aspect=
Haven't fleshed this out yet. Still have a few weeks. ;)

=Lost Temple=
The sacred ruins beneath Diamond Lake were once the home of a powerful necromancer that came from Sarlona with Malleon the Reaver, a human bearing a powerful aberrant dragonmark. He studied in the shadows of the Vaati, and grew powerful. Eventually, this nameless necromancer passed from memory except for some records lost during the siege of Shaarat---It is rumored he may have been one of the first human liches. His records were rediscovered by the Faceless One and he now uses this places energies for his own usage.

Hope that gets some ideas flowing!

Can I get a hold of those conversion notes too?

Hey Dizzyk, I would appreciate the conversion notes also. Our AoW group starts in a few weeks and I can't wait to get started using the ideas in this great thread!

Please send the conversion notes to inzimbabwe (at) yahoo (dot) com

Have you thought of posting these conversions to the NPC stat block bank that Lilith created? You won't have to keep sending out the notes and it would expand the Eberron line of NPCs significantly.

Dizzyk,

If at all possible could I get a copy of your notes as well. I am preparing to run AoW in Eberron at a local college's gaming club meetings starting in September.

Thanks

I'm planning on doing this and will definitely share my thoughts on these boards when I get down to making the conversions for TFoE (I'm also very early in WC right now). Seems, at first glance, do-able. My party has 5 PC's, so I might not need to tweak the total numbers in the (erstwhile) grimlock caves too, too much.

I'm also toying with the idea of the Faceless One having mastery over a few Living Spells... seems to fit the flavor there.

I have thought about it. I'm quite impressed by how quickly the stat bank is growing. When I find time and my group's unexpected and extended hiatus lifts, I'll start doing so.
