Mine Worker Pay

How much do you propose a character make per month if he or she is working in one of the mines in Diamond Lake? I suppose each manager pays and treats his miners differently. But, how much are you paying characters that have elected to start off as a humble mine worker? Even if wages earned go to pay off a personal or family debt, how much is appropriate?

What if he or she works at the Emporium, or Lazare's?

Isn't this Adventure Path great? I like it a lot, and the players I judge for are very excited to get started.

I don't have my Age of Worms notes here at home, but my gut sez that however much you pay the miners (and by extension, PC miners), it should be barely enough for them to live on and certainly not enough for them to finance an escape from the town. This'll help convince them that dungeoning the Whispering Cairn's a good idea...

in the DMs guide they give a pay listing i belive its a d4 or d6 in sp. for a days wage plus there craft skill.

So.... to make it rough on them as per the suggestion above, maybe make it 1d4 silver per week plus their craft skill. Remember the mine owners are unscrupulous bastards who cheat their workers out of and honest wage at every opportunity they get.

In the Three Faces of Evil, pg. 20, under the heading "Infiltrating the Mine", it states that Ragnolin Dourstone pays workers 2sp per day plus room and board. So, it would be fair to say that other mine owners pay that or something just slightly above that. As one of you noted, the DMG says 6sp a day so I wouldn't go even that high to be in keeping with the flavor of Diamond Lake and the merciless mine owners.
