This journal begins at the begining of "Flood Season". Kaygan has become a fallen paladin after torturing Kazmojen, from "Life's Bizaar"and has lost his Shiny aura. The party has just finished dinner with the Lord Mayor Severen Navalant (where Feston appeared before the lord mayor shining from a light spell cast on his new fancy masterwork platemail). Jenya Urikas has sent the company on an urgent mission to save Saracem, the high priest of the Church of St. Cuthbert in the city of Cauldron. Saracem was in peril at the Lucky Monkey Inn, 1/2 a days ride from the city.

The full moon was blotted out by rain clouds which unleashed a heavy down pour, as the hero's reached the Lucky Monkey Inn.

In a stroke of bad luck the company had lost three of thier horses in an ambush by two large dinosaurs. Then with a flash of lightning, a crash of thunder and another stroke of bad luck, the remaining horses bolted into the stormy night as the company dismounted to enter the inn.

The company of hero's relaxed thier gaurd a bit as the heard business in the common room.

Kaygan, the fallen Paladin was a bit surprised as he gazed upon the crimescene, as he entered the front door of the Inn.

The ten criminals in the commonroom of the inn were just as surprised, to see Kaygan.

In a dry style Kaygan Offered to the criminals "Surrender or parish." Then Kaygan enters the room drawing his great masterwork silver sword.

The ten criminals position themselves for a fight, with sword, shield, rapiers and short bows.

Tolken, th 1/2 orc fighter, decides to crash his seven foot fram through the window on the right of the front door. He is followed by Conk with his spoon, Feston Bulbous(no longer shining) and then serina the fair elf maiden and her deadly bow.

The enigmatic Wil and the bumbling sorcerer Rink follow Kaygan through the front door securing the left flank.

After breaching the front door the Company quickly dispatches nine out of the ten unrepentant criminals, in a bloody fight.

The tenth criminal, a rogue, escapes up the stairs behind the bar of the common room. Wil gracefully somersaults over the bar then turns invisible before pursuing the rogue up the stairs. He is soon followed by Kaygan and Conk.

Serina decides to check up the stairs far to the right of the bar, she is followed by the seven foot Tolken and his masterwork silver full blade.

After some healing, Feston decides to go arround the Inn to head off any attempt by the rogue to flee to the stable outside the Inn. Not sure what to do Rink follows Fewston outside and arround to the back.

Now hanging low in the west. The full moon light breaks through the storm clouds as the rain take a respite. Feston rounds the corner of the inn, not percieving any activity within the stable.

Kaygan attacks the fleeing rogue at the bottom of the stairs but drops his sword as he bumps into the invisible Wil. Wil squeezes out of the melee and past the rogue to hide in the corner of the kitchen , flanking the stairway and remaining invisible.

The rogue enters the Kitchen and cries a warning, interrupting Tongue Eater, the half orc werebaboon barbarian, as he gloats over the disembodied head of Saracem. Upset Tongue Eater bites the tongue out and throws Saracem's head at the rogue. Missing the hapless Alleybasher, Saracem's head hits Wil in the corner. revealing his presence and position. Wil acts quickly and grapples the rogue pulling him into the corner and out of the doorway, wrapping his bolas arround the neck of the rogue, becoming visible.

Serina and Tolken check a number of rooms upstairs and decide to return to the commonroom downstairs.

The way cleared, Kaygan enters the kitchen and engages Tongue Eater who wields a falchion and two thugs in chainmail fighting with longswords and shields with an offer to "surrender or parish." Conk follows Kaygan and enters combat with his warcry "SPOON!!!" , then engages the thugs and rogues loitering outside the backdoor of the kitchen.

Under the light of the fullmoon, Feston advances upon the criminals loitering outside the kitchen, offering them to "surrender or parish." One of the thugs advances upon Feston with sword and shield. Feston commands the swordsman to "masterbate!". The spell fails, the thug attacks.

Rink casts flaming sphere from a scroll and harasses the rogues and thugs engaged with Conk outside. Some are scorched and some duck from the funny little sorcerers flaming sphere.

Conk, fatigued from raging earlier and slipping in the mud, starts slow with a number of missess. One of the thugs lands a number of blows with his sword blooding Conk the half orc barbarian.

Kaygan is near invincible, with a mage armor spell cast previously, against Tongue Eater and two flanking thugs, none can land a hit. Kaygan fairs better and focuses his attacks against Tongue Eater, landing a number of vicious blows with his masterwork silver greatsword.

Wil continues to strangle the life out of his hapless victim.

After checking a couple of closets adjacent to the commonroom, Tolken decides to track Kaygan and Conk up the stairs behind the bar. Serina enters a hallway looking to flank or capture the rogue from escaping.

Conk starts to warm up and brains one criminal and then spoons another in the chest. Rink continues to harass the rogues and thugs with the flaming sphere, engaged with Conk outside. Soon the others start to flee from the onslaught of conk and his mighty "SPOON!!!"

Feston is hit by the thug, a minor wound. Feston continues to fight with his masterwork silver morningstar. Fweston and the swordsman' s combat becomes a stale mate as niether can hit and gain an advantage.

Serina enters the kitchen from a doorway flanking the stair well and looses an arrow against a thug in chainmail flanking Kaygan. Just then Tolken enters the kitchen from the stairway and drops the thug hit by Serina's arrow, with his masterwork silver fullblade.

Wil leaves his victim unconcious in the corner and casts bull strength on Kaygan then mage armor on Tolken as the seven foot 1/2 orc fighter enters the fray.

Conk runs down the fleeing criminals. One slips and falls in the mud and Conk plants the terified rogues head deep in the mud with his spoon.

Rink's flaming sphere disipates and he casts magic missile from a scroll. two flowers spring from Rink's fingers and hits one of the rogues. Flowers sprout where the rogue was hit by rink's unusual magic missile, they wilt and pop off leaving a terrible sting and welt. Then conk brains the poor mook with his spoon, dropping the criminal.

Serina and Tolken move against another hapless thug. Serina moves in a flanking position to gain a better angle and looses an arrow hitting thug in the sholder. Tolken closes and runs the thug through, then kicking the twitching body off his fullblade.

Conk finishes off the swordsmen engaged with the cleric Feston. Dropping the thug with a jab to the back of the head snaping his neck.

Kaygan drops Tongue Eater with a devestating blow, shattering Tongue Eater's hip and droping the werebaboon. the remaining flanking thug surrenders to Kaygan. The battle is over.

The floor of the kitchen of The Luckey Monkey Inn is covered in loot and gore. The Company of the Shining Man has captured two criminals, the surrendering thug and unconcious rogue.

"One Night at the Lucky Monkey Inn"

Introducing
Roger the Red "treasure hunter" male human monk

Roger the Red decided to stay the night at the Lucky Monkey Inn before continuing on his journey to the city of Cauldron. It was the night of the full moon and storm clouds were gathering, a bath, warm meal, hot tea and dry bed seemed appealling to the treasure hunter/ tomb raider/ adventurer. As the rain started to poor after sun set, Roger was enjoying a warm bath and the comfort of a full belly, when a ruckus broke in the common room below.

Roger could hear yelling, screaming, rain and the crash of thunder. Soon it was over and Roger hid from the marauding raiders. Gathering his belongings Roger decided to move and investigate the common room bellow.

As Roger peaked down a stair case into the common room and saw anumber of thugs and rogues turning the place upside down , looting bodies, drinking ale and revelling in the meyhem and death they created. Then all were surprised when the door opened and some one called dryly, "surrender or parish. Roger watched as the criminals prepared to fight. Roger decided to wait out the fight upstairs before escaping.

Roger the Red took a chance to glance out the window of the room he was hiding upstairs in. Under the light of the full moon, which finally broke through the storm clouds, he could see two figures rounding the corner of the inn, Feston Bulbous, warrior priest of Pelor and Rink the funny little sorcerer. The ever observant Roger noticed the cleric's holy symbol bounce off his armored chest plate as Feston passed through a light cast from a window below.

Roger decided to make contact, just then Roger noticed someone approuch the door of is room. The agile adventure dove under a bed and hid as the figure quickly checked the room and moved on. A few seconds later roger slipped out the room and down the stairs.

**** SPOILERISH****

By torture are good Sir Kaikillah is referring to the only way I could think of to keep Kazmojen in a state where we could then take him to face justice in cauldron and find out what happened to the others he had sold off already. Honestly I think putting a half/dwarf half/troll head in a chest lined with daggers and shaking vigoroulsy to keep him from regenerating a perfectly reasonable idea. My party did not agree and neither did the gods since I lost my paladin hood and I am now on the path of redemption. I was shot in the back while facing off against two half/orcs and human with a whip. needless to say I was incapacitated and awoke to find Kazmojen atope a funeral pyre. Having no other choice we headed back to the temple with the folks we were able to rescue to receive are reward.

Before Kagon decided to but Kazmojen's head in a box with knives , he was shaving pieces of his face off, so as to keep him from fully regenerating. In a D&D world destruction of evil like Kazmojen is a good deed, but keeping him alive and needlessly causing injury, pain and suffering, for any reason is just plain wrong. I think and I'm the DM. that said Paladins aren't just kinda lawfulgood they are the epitomy of lawfulgood, there should be no question about a paladin's behavior.

"Aftermath"
Kagon, the fallen paladin and the good cleric, Feston, begin interogating the prisoners. Excited and frustrated Feston smashes the foot of one of the thugs. The prisoner screams in pain.

Lightning flashes and thunder bangs above. With that, the screaming and the smell of spilt blood and the gore on the floor of the kitchen, was to much for Rink and he bolts out the door and into the night.

Serena and Wil watch as Feston and Kaygon interrogate the poor mooks.

The two 1/2 orcs, Connk and Tolken decide to gather the treasure amongst the gore spread upon the kitchen floor.

Roger the Red, adventurer, sneaks behind the inn looking for the Cleric of Pelor he saw minutes earlier. A man screams in pain. Lightning and Thunder strike heralding the return of rain. Just then a funny little man with bed of flowers growing from his head runs past Red. Well this is it, gripped with curiosity Red approaches the kitchen door.

Roger introduces himself telling the company that he was a guest and hid from the attack. The group accepts his story and asks if he can help restrain the prisoners.

"Baboons in the Garden"

Through interrogation of their prisoners' Kagon figures that Sarcem's body is in the cellar below and the wands of flood control were taken by the red headed female warrior Triel who hired the thugs and Alleybasher down at the lake waterfront of Cauldron.

The prisoners not being clear, caused some confusion on how to get the cellar to recover Sarcem's body. Tolken bored and ready for more battle, decides to open a door leading to the courtyard of the Lucky Monkey Inn.

Tolken opened the door to the barks and howls of a courtyard full of baboons. Tolken greets the on rushing baboons with a growling "It's showtime!", and smites the first baboon upon his fullblade.

Conk hearing Tolken, squeezes past the 7' warrior, as he kicks the beast from his blade, engaging two baboons beside the courtyard fountain.

Serina moves back into the hall which she entered the kitchen attempting to find a flanking position to the battle Tolken is now engaged in.

Feston, Red and Kagon secure the prisoners while Wil decides to go up the stairs and back into the commonroom.

At this moment lightning and thunder bring the rain as well as Rink, who returns from flight into the jungle behind the kitchen.

Tolken drops another baboon who approaches him at the door. Conk again starts slow and is unable to land a blow early on. Just then Red tumbles between Tolken's leg and out the door. Red kicks a baboon in the chin shoking the ape.

Serina enters a door on the other end of the courtyard and shhots a baboon, hanging from the archway in his big red butt. This gains the attention of a number of baboons. They turn to advance upon the fair elf maiden.

Tolken, Conk and Red finish off the baboons by the kitchen door and fountain and move to help Serina now engaged in melee with a number of baboons. In his full platmail armor, Tolken moves slow and Conk finishes of the last of the baboon, launching one of the baboons heads out of the courtyard.

"Lovers, the cellar and a dark elf"

As the battle with the baboons in the courtyard finishes, Wil walks upon two criminals dressing after making made love in one of the private rooms next to the bar. Wil blows his whistle alerting the other members of the company.

After a quick fight with the lovers the entire company including the only apperent survivor Roger the Red, return to the kitchen. There they decide to split up. Red, Kagan, Feston, Rink and Serina will go to the cellar and retrieve Sarcem' s body. The two 1/2 orcs Conk and Tolken will watch the two prisoners. Wil decides to check the stables for any stragglers in the pooring rain.

As Kagan, Feston, Red, Rink and Serina decent down into the cellar, the here the curses of four criminals trying to bash open a door. A fight begins as Kagans offer "Surrender or Parish" and enters the cellar.

Rink acts quickly casting a web spell upon the four thugs and Alleybasher and blows his whistle vigoursly. The 1/2 orcs now eating a pot of stew left on the stove are oblivious to the whistle The group is captured alive and taken prisoner to face justice in Cauldron for thier crimes at the Lucky Monkey Inn.

Kagon then convinces Shenshen to leave here final bastion in the fountain room. Despite Reds objections and prejudice toward the dark elf, Kagan offers her protection and freedom.

"Ambush"
The Company of the Shining Man rescued two survivors, Shensen and Roger the Red, recovered the body of Saracem and captured six members of the gang who attacked the Lucky Monkey Inn. At this point the company is getting tired after riding most half the night and fighting through most of the inn. The company decides that the murderous thugs should clean up the mess in the inn, gather the bodies and place them on a pyre. Using his effective persuasive techniques, Conk convinces two of the criminals to clean the kitchen.

"That vato is loco eeeh.", said Paldi

"The whole bunch of them are loco essay,.." replied Lakus, "Look what they did to my foot eeeh!"

"Hextor Damn. Yeeeh..., That's f@## up essay"

"Look what they did to Tongue eater."

"Hextor damn!!!"

"We should do as they say!!!" They agreed.

With that, Paldi and Lakus begin removing bodies and cleaning the gore in the kitchen under the supervision of Conk. The other four captures are taken down to the cellar by Wil, Tolken, Rink and Serina.

Red decides to get the rest of the gear upstairs, Kagan follows him to get a bed, so he can make a stretcher to carry Sarcem's body.

Tired, dirty and wounded Feston decides to take a bath.

Shensen stays in the kitchen with Conk. The 1/2 orc is smitten by the beauty of drow offers her a silver spoon.

Red and Kagan enter his room upstairs. Red gathers his gear and Kagan begins to take apart the bed in the room.

Then without warning Red is shot in the back with and arrow and a group of thugs and Alleybashers rush the room.

Feston wanders into the bar and helps himself to a stiff drink as the fight breaks out upstairs. Hearing the rukus, but ansure as to what is happening, Feston grabs a bottle of dwarven whiskey and meanders toward the stairs in the commonroom.

After the sneak attack by bow a number of thugs, with long sword and shield rush Kagan and Red in the small guestroom. Kagan clobbers one with the bed. One of the thugs falls on his face as he tries to jump over a tub and engage melee combat with Red.

As Feston checks the stairs, he is attacked by a bowman watching from the top of the staircase. Feston throws the bottle and begins to blow his whistle. Feston then throws some alchemy fire at his assailant.

Kagon and Red are in a tight spot. The thugs throw the bed back at Kagon, destroying the bed and pinning Kagon against a wall. Kagon manages to pull a tangle foot bag and throw it at the doorway of the room trapping one of the thugs in the doorway, before he is pinned to the wall by shields. After suffering a number of sword attacks Red does a back flip out the window and slow falls safely to the ground outside, leaving Kagon alone. Red rushes back to the kitchen to get help for Kagon and some healing for himself.

After securing the prisoners in the cellar rooms, Tolken, Serina, Wil and Rink decide to return upstairs, then they hear the whistle and begin to run to the kitchen.

Feston engages in combat in the staircase, then moves back to gain cover from bowmen shooting down on him from the hallway above the staircase.

Kagon fighting for his life manages to push of the thugs and swallows two cure Moderate wound potions. His wonderful platemail armor and the mage armor spell keeps him safe from the thugs sword blows as he heals himself with the potions.

Hearing the whistle Conk brains the captives who were cleaning the kitchen, so they don't run away, then goes back up the stairs he entered the kitchen. He then spends the remainder of the fight clearing the other rooms upstairs in the inn.

Shensen helps bind Reds wounds, despite his distrust and prejudice toward the dark elf. As Tolken, Serina, Rink and Wil enter the kitchen Red sents them outside the way he came.

Feston continues to blow his whistle and fight in the common room just outside the staircase leading to the guestrooms upstairs.

Kagon feeling better after the potions draws his great sword and begins attacking his assailants. Kagon desperate, alone and fighting for his life turns the tide of the battle and begins dropping the thugs with his great sword.

Wil, Tolken and Rink stop under the window Red jumped out, while Serina continues to the front door of the inn(allways looking to flank). Rink pulls out a scroll and casts spider climb on Wil then Bull's Strength on Tolken. Tolken then leaps, grabs the wimdow sill then climbs in the second story window. Wil just scurries up the wall like a spider.

Serina enters the commonroom and looses an arrow at the Alleybasher fighting Feston. An accomplished bowmen Serina precisly hitting her target.

Tolken and Wil enter the room from the window and help Kagon finish the fight. Just then COnk enters the scene, a number of thugs are dead and two surrender to the Company of the Shining Man.

Next "The Flaming Paladin"

Thoughts of Festan Bulbous.

Let me begin by saying that I love those little flexible plastic prepainted figures issued by "Wizards of the Coast". Not only are they durable I like the fact that if children chew them they are less likely to damage not only the figures, but themselves as well.

Festan Bulbous is a Cleric of The Sun God. His God is considered a good god. Good gods tend to frown upon behaviors not considered "Good". The torture of Prisoners seems to fall among this category of behaviors. The Clerics reflections follow...also upon his recent return to the city he has discovered that his young son has been Kidnapped!!!....

Cleric's Log

Reflections of Festan Bulbous:

It is my sincere desire by noting down my reflections to provide a record of my exploits for the benefit of my fellow church members. These reflections should be of value since it is not only success but failure which will help us all to grow and become better servants of the light.

Recently I have had great difficulty communing with the glory of my lord the god of sun. In a vision, it became clear to me that the reason for my loss of favor has to do with the torture of a prisoner. Another member of my party also fell from grace through similar circumstances. Hence the motivation for this log...since had I taken proper note of his tribulations I would not now be in my own.

Therefore here is the first lesson.

Observe ye and understand the errors of your fellows and the consequences of them lest ye be doomed to repeat their sins and reap the sorrow of the harvest of sin which ye sow.

Let us reflect then upon my actions. Recently we engaged a group of murderous brigands at the Lucky Monkey Inn(Often referred to the 'Spanking Monkey Inn' ...why I do not know). Suffice it to say the Inn was far from lucky for its visitors who were slain and robbed as they slept. After their defeat I was so enraged by their behaviour that I wanted quick answers to my questions and made a grievous error. I tortured a prisoner. I justified my actions by thinking this "small" evil will generate a "greater good". It did not truly....therefore behold the second lesson...

Commit no evil for the greater good. Evil begets evil. Only good can beget good. Beware the path of "small evils" for even a great thorn tree grows from a small seed.

Now my pain is great for my wife informs me that the imaptient young man who tried to gain money from us under the false pretenses of "charges for lost horses" has now made a grave error. He has kidnapped my son. My first priority will be to inform the Mayor and confer with the City Guard. Since the lad is from an influential family the matter must be handled delicately.

Therefore I will send the following letter to the Mayor.

To His Right Honorable and Glorious Emminence the Mayor:

Your Emminence, it is my distinct honor to have the privellage to correspond with you. A pressing matter has come to my attention and I felt it my sacred duty to inform your Emminence of the Situation. The Situation invloves the City and Myself and The Chrurch. As I am certain you recall we had a discource on the yesterday regarding a matter of a certain influential family with which you are aquainted asking for compensation for lost mounts. Imagine my surprise when, after having gathered the appropriate sum of 2000 gold and attempting to deliver the sum to the head of the family in question was informed by a kind servant that the master of the house is out of our fair town and has been so for several weeks!
The nervous young man who claimed to represent the family appears to have questionable motives! Certainly my appearance at the gates of his family's estate with a treasure chest caused enough of a stir that he received word of my attempted payment. Unfortunately, rather than admitting that his impatience had foiled his fraudulent prank and leaving well enough alone the lad has committed a serious offence. He has kidnapped my son and demands the same amount that was alleged to be compensation for horses for my son's safe return. As your Emminence can imagine I am beside myself with concern as is my Wife. Understanding your many important duties I intend to deal with the situation in a discreet manner. The implications are far reaching nonetheless. We prefer to assume that the lad is simply misguided and his youth and greed have led him to err. Certainly we would not consider his parents to condone such behavior. We look with favor upon those who show kindness to church and state through their generosity....as I am sure his family has....however...kidnapping....my goodness surely he can't have learned such behavior from his father!
We will presume therefore that the matter has been instigated by the "Stormblades" of whom he claims membership. This misguided band of weather predictors has obviously misjudged. In order to protect the influential families these young people belong to I will proceed with discretion. My greatest fear is that there may be some dark power playing behind the scenes and using these misguided youngsters as their pawns. The kidnapping of the child of a Cleric of Pelor seems a rather severe act and one can't help but wonder what on earth has "possessed" them. I welcome any input you may have.I would further humbly request a scribe to stop by our temple with a copy of the city ordinance regarding attemped fraud and kidnapping and murder and the appropriate trial procedures and established punishment schedules for perpetrators and accessories. Since kidnappings may have occured previously if you know of anyone in the city guard with the appropriate discretion and experience I would be eternally grateful for a referral.
Yours Faithfully...
May the Blessings of Pelor and the Holy Light be upon you and those whom you love now and always.
FASTEN BULBOUS of The Shinning Man Party.

Thus ends my current written self discourse. I go now to commune and pray for guidance.

Thanks to Feston Bulbous for his insight into the nature of good and evil. Such reflection is difinitly worthy of experience, see you on gameday this tuesday.

"The flaming paladin"

The stormy sky from the night before cleared revealing the blue sky above. The sun was still below the forested mountains to the east. A funeral pyre continued to burn as the sun rays began to pierce the jungle canopy surrounding a clearing behind the Lucky Monkey Inn.

Shensen sat in quite contemplation gazing upon the funeral pyre. She wrapped her dark grey shawl arround her head shading her deep soulful bright sliver grey eyes and delicate black skin from the brightening skies. She was one of only two survivors of a brutal and bloody attack upon the Lucky Monkey Inn.

The night before, a group of murderous brigands, lead by a female human warrior with red hair and a 1/2 orc werebaboon, known as Tongue Eater and his troop of ferocious baboons. The caretaker of a shrine dedicated to Farlaghn in the Lucky Monkey Inn, Shensen the beautiful drow, prepared to make here final stand against the brigands. Just then she was rescued by a strange group of heroes calling themselves the Company of the Shining Man.

The Company had taken a number of the brigands alive to face justice in the fair city of Cauldron. These criminals, demoralized by their utter defeat by a handful adventurers were forced to clean the inn and build a funeral pyre for the scores of dead. After which the company of heroes secured them in the cellar. Feeling secure and exhausted from a night of riding through a storm and fighting more than score of evil brigands, a pair of dinosaurs a troop of baboons and a 1/2 orc werebaboon barbarian.

Shensen was left outside with the funny human sorcerer, Rink. Rink slept beside the warmth of the funeral pyre, dreaming of soft meadows, fragrant flowers and those beautiful bumble bees. The drow could hear the hooves approach from the distance.

"the flaming paladin" (cont.)

Five heavily aromored horsemen approached from arround the stable of the inn. Three riders held back drawing javalins and a bow. The weary drow rousted Rink from his dreams. Rink stared in wonder as the two most magnificant warriors approached.

The foremost of the approaching riders wore a suit of platemail armor which shone like platinum. He wore a white tabard with a white rectangle field trimed in gold with a gold sunburst outlined in blue. The platinum knight' s grey and white mount was similarly armored. In his right hand he carried a spear with a small whit triangle flag with the holy symbol of Pelor, a gold sunburst with a fatherly face within. At his left side hung a triangle shield, white with a similar golden sunburst trimed in blue as on his tabard. He also carried a sheathed longsword on his right side. The platinum knight called out introducing himself, "I am squire Gilbert, Herald and Companion of Sir Hector Alexio, the Champion of his most Radiant Eminence San Lu, the Bishop of Puwee & Knight of the Order of the Burning Sunrays of his most Divine Radiance the Shining One, Pelor!"

As of the current events that I have realized that Festan Bulbous , his child has been kidnapped. I Tolken the one strike killing machine, vow my strength , my blood and my mighty sword in oath to you that we will find your child.
Right down to my last breath of thee.

Lets get your child back !!
And let those who harm this child fall to the keeness of my blade !!

Tolken has spoken

I have not said much up to par choosing to stay quite in the shadows of my large companions. But for this I make an exception. I concour with Tolken. Fasten Bulbous, rest assured we will find your child. For those who wish to harm that child may the gods have mercy on their sould for I will show no mercy on them. Kiddnapping of a child I do not take well. I will fight till my dieing day.

"The Flaming Paladin" (cont.)

Sir Hector Alexcio etc., etc., wore the most spectacular suit of plate mail armor, enchanted to shine amber gold and flicker like the sun. His large blonde mount was similarly armored in plate barding. The fabulous knight wore a banner upon his back. The banner was gold trim with a azure blue field with a gold sun burst in the middle similar to the one worn by squire Gilbert. A triangle shield with the holy symbol of Pelor upon a blue field and gold trim. The shiny warrior also had a ornate scabbard with a jeweled hilt of bastard sword. Hector also strapped a white wonderfully carved composite longbow. Sir Hector rode up to Shensen and offered a friendly greeting. Even in the sunlight, Shensen the drow cartaker of the Farlagn shrine at the Lucky Monkey Inn, smiled.

"Home, family, lost horses and missing children."

After a brief encounter with the flamboyant flaming paladin, Sir Hector Alexcio and companions, the company had decided to rest the morning and return to Cauldron with Sarcem's mutilated body and eight captives. In a private meeting with Sir Hector, it was revealed to Feston that the Bishop of PuWee was to visit in two months. This was exciting news to the Warrior priest of Pelor. Festron also awoke the next morning unable to access the scorching power of the sun. Thus Feston relized his error and lack of compasion in torturing a hapless captive the night before. Before departing the Company of the Shining Man had left all the copper and silver coins, gathered by tongueeater the night before, in the shrine of Farlaghn to help reopen the Lucky Monkey Inn.

The road home was miserable, raining and muddy. It was midnight by the time the Company of the Shining Man, returned to Cauldron.

For the time being, Serina' s home in Cauldron was the Drunken Morkoth Inn. Serina ranger/ sorcerer elf maiden was offered a room to sleep for a performance of Elf poetry. She had done this since her arrival to Cauldron. The night after the action at the Lucky Monkey Inn, a stiff drink, cleansing bath and warm room for meditation. Serina grew in arcane power and as the Week past new arcane abilities were awakened in her.

Leaving behind trouble in PuWee adventure/ treasure seeker, Roger the Red has decided to take up residence at the Drunken Morkoth Inn.

For the mighty Tolken home was a small weapon smith shop near the water front. Tolken continued to train and hone his fighting skills. Tolken also continued to research his father's work in forging a mercurial blade. Like most water front property his dwelling was upstairs while his shop sat on the ground level. But within a week time his floor had begun to flood aas the lake rose from all the rain.

Kagon lived in a small spartan room at the Church of St. Cuthbert. Realizing his error and contemplating the role of a Paladin. Kagon sought Atonement. With a scroll left by Sarcem, and a service combining Kagon's atonment and Sarcem's funeral, Kagon became a Paladin again and found his glow. But to pay for the scroll Jenya had decided Kagon would serve at a hospice run by a strange benevolent follower of Wee Jas. Kagon also continued to visit the Lantern Street Orphanage where he grew up.

Rink also grew up in the Lantern Street Orphanage. Currently Rink lived in the park and slept under the lake side pavillion. Like the others slepping under the pavillion they would be chased out in the morning and scatter into the park. Yet Rink was a sorcerer and his arcane power grew as he meditated under a tree, the pavilion or where ever he could find solstice from the ever prsent rain.

"Home, family, lost horses & missing children" (cont.)

Wil lives at home with his mother. Wil continued to study magic and grow in arcane power and knowledge. One night as WIl was studying, He was visited by his uncle Al, a member of the enigmatic blood angels. Uncle Al chasticed WIl for not practicing the skills of a blood angel and his heritage. Uncle Al also gave Wil a map showing where Triel, the leader of the brigands that attacked the Lucky Monkey Inn and stole the wands of water control, was hiding. Uncle Al explained that Triel was part of a cult "The Ebon Triad", the blood angels wanted eliminated.

Conk lives with Wil at Wil's mother's home. Conk skills as a fighter improved as he trained with Tolken and practiced with his mighty spoon. Conk used his shiny to commision a masterwork silver spoon, so he had a cool shiny weapon like the others. Conk also had a visit from Shensen who gave him a pair of boots of springing & striding. the Simple 1/2 orc is smitten.

Home for Feston Bulbous was a small house with a white picket fence and a yard, his wife and three children. Feston grew in spiritual power and understanding. Although contemplating his loss and refecting on the nature of good and evil, Feston has yet to fully atone for his sins and still denied access to the potent Sun domain. After a day away from his nagging wife, at the shrine to Pelor meditating, Feston returned to the cries of his wife bearing the news of there kidnapped son Kristoff.

Todd Vanderboren had taken Kristoff for the loss of horses lent to the company, the night of the attack on the Lucky Monkey Inn. The Vanderboren's owned a stbles in town as well as a horse ranch outside of town. Jenya Urikas had aquired the horses from the stables. Todd acted with out authority from his family, hoping to extort money from the Company of the Shining Man, a growing rival to his own group the Stormblades.

Being declared heroes of Cauldron after rescueing a number of citizens from the clutches of the Underdark slaver Kazmojen, Feston and the Company of the Shining Man, now had clout with the Lord Mayor Severen Navalant. Feston sent a letter to the Lord Mayor (see post above) and rallied the company to rescue his son Kristoff, and bring Todd Vanderboren to justice.

The hunt for Kristoff Bulbous and Todd Vandrboren took the entire night. The mayor sent Sgt. McBerry and two other gaurdsmen to aid Feston with a blood hound. Investigation found that the Vanderborens were away at PuWee. The Vandrboren' stable master took payment for the lost mounts and offered clues as where to find Todd. Kristoff was quickly found in a boat anchored in the lake behind a dive known as the The Dunken Tabbard, a place frequented by Todd.

Finding Todd proved more difficult. The Company checked the Slutty Lantern, a cheap whorehouse on the water front. Then the Drunken Morkoth Inn. At the Drunken Morkoth, Feston and Kagon interviewed three members of the Stormblades Annah Taskerhill, Cormanthimire and Kuni Mei Linn. Although un helpfull Kagon and Feston gained a better understanding of the nature of the Stormblades. It was at the Drunken Morkoth where WIl was caught breaking into a room "Looking for Todd". After a confrontation with McBerry, Wil appologised (after nearly strangling to death McBerry). But Feston and the party lost the help of the gaurd in there search for Todd.

"Here Come the Shiny Men (+ one fair maiden)"

After hunting Todd Vanderboren through out the rainy night, the Company of the Shining Man is tired and without a lead as to where Todd has gone. Feston, Rink and Serina all show symptoms of a cold. Feston casts a spell on himself, to relieve his oncoming cold. For the rest of the night the company rests.

The next morning Feston casts a spell on Rink relieving him of his cold. After a warm bath and rest Serina was able to shake the cold on her own. Just as Feston was to begin the hunt for Todd, Kagon appeared at the shrine to Pelor and reminded him of the ergency in finding Triel and the wands of water control, she has stolen.

As Kagon awoke that morning Jenya had asked, that he and the Company of the Shining Man continue the search for the wands and Triel. Jenya was concerned that with all the rain the lake could flood past Ash Avenue. This was the most rain anyone has seen in over ten years. Kagon gathered the company and set them on track to finding the murderous Triel.

In a meeting at the Shrine of Pelor, in the afternoon, Wil produced a map and the best lead as to where Triel might be. He explained how a relative had given him the map. Wil continued, "It is a map to a lair of an evil cult known as the Ebon Triad, Triel is a member of that cult.

Here come the Shiny Men (+ one fair maiden)

Eight days after, what is being called, the "Unlucky Monkey Masscre", eight criminals involved were beheaded. The usual punishment for such a crime would have been drawn and hung untill death. But, Lord Mayor Severence Nevelant had shown mercy after considering letters submitted from Feston Bulbous and Kagon, two members who brought these heinous criminals to justice. Jenya Urikas, High Priestess of the Church of St. Cuthbert, stood in attendence of the execution. As the high Priestess of the god of Law St. Cuthbert she was to read signed confessions from the criminals before the execution. Jenya could not help but savor the sweet taste of revenge for seeing those responsible for Saracem's death.., her mentor.., her friend. As Jenya contemplated justice and retribution, gazing at the spectacle of eight beheadings, Kagon was preparing the Company of the Shiny Man to assault the Ebon Triad and Triel, leader of brigands who killed Saracem.

Her Come the Shiny Men (+ one fair maiden)

The Company of the Shiny Man reached the first landmark on Wil's map to the Ebon Triad's lair, a popular swimming hole known as, Arid's Pond. Arid's pond was feed from a stream that emptied out of a lava tube and fell 60'+ to the pond bellow. Today, Arid's pond and the waterfall were swollen from the presistent rain. A light rain covered the party. To reach the the Ebon Triad's lair, the company needed to enter a cave behind the waterfall some 30' up. There was a narrow ledge running some 40' along the pond leading to the waterfall. Another ledge, 30' up, just at the edge of the falls lead to the cave behind.

Here come the Shiny Men (+ one fair maiden)
Interlude: The Celestial Porpoise Incident

Red, Rink and Kagon negotiated the lower ledge to the edge of the waterfall. Rink enchanted a length of rope, which anchored itself and stiffened. Kagon tied a another rope to the enchanted rope and threw it back to Conk, who anchored it with his massive 7 ½’ frame. Red climbed the rope first and penetrated the cave behind the falls. Kagon followed after Red. After three attempts at climbing the enchanted rope, Kagon, his weapons, gear, plate mail armor and shield fell into the water beneath the falls.

The heavily armored paladin, Kagon, sank quickly beneath the waterfall. Wil was the first to dive into the water and save his friend. Red, adventurer/ hero, dove from the small ledge next to the falls 30’ above. Conk, Tolken and Serina could only laugh at the hapless paladin.

Kagon, determined and hard headed, began to reach deep within his own faith and cast a spell. Wil swam to his friend and cast spider climb on Kagon. Thinking Kagon was panicking, Wil began to push him toward the edge of the pond. Kagon remained unshaken and continued casting. Red released his gear underwater and approached Kagon. Kagon, always sure and faithful, finished his spell and summoned a celestial porpoise. The porpoise helped Kagon and retrieved Red’s gear.

Kagon unshaken by his near drowning scurried up the cliff to the ledge and cave behind the swollen waterfall. Red, Wil and Serina climbed the Rink’s enchanted rope. Rink also levitated the heavily armored Tolken and Feston up to the ledge accessing the cave behind the falls. Conk, the ½ orc barbarian, wanting to try his new fancy boots leaped across the slippery lower ledge along Arid’s pond and grasped the enchanted rope 15’ above the pond below. Conk dangled his feet in the swollen waterfall and climbed the rope hand over hand to the ledge above. Entering the cave above Conk sarcastically asked, “Why you make climb look so hard?” Rink grabbed the enchanted rope and whistled. He motioned those above to pull him up. Conk and Tolken pulled Rink up and the Company of the Shiny man was off to assault the Ebon Triad’ s lair.

Here Come the Shiny Men (+ one fair maiden)

After negotiating a second slippery cliff only 15’ this time, the Company followed a 10’ wide lava tube down into the dormant volcano. Following a six hour march through the lava tube, the Company of the Shining Man reached a wooden door just before the cave opened up to a much larger cavern with a strange green glow.

Kagon, using detect evil, determined at least four creatures of evil nature lurked beyond the door. The party began to position themselves to assault the door. Then the door opened from within and an armored man in chain mail wielding a long sword and large steel shield. He wore a mustard yellow tabard with a black triangle pointing down upon the chest. The Ebon Triad guard moved first attacking Kagon, the shining paladin. Tolken quickly ran the guard through with his masterwork silver full blade, clearing the doorway. Kagon entered the room engaging another similarly armored and armed guard. Kagon was quickly followed by Red. Rink began his tactic of casting mage armor on the warriors, starting with Tolken and Conk. Serina entered the larger cavern beyond the door seeking an advantage.

The second guard sounded the alarm by throwing a thunderstone against a wall. His attempt to through it out a window was thwarted by Red, who knocked the stone into the wall. Knowing what was coming, the guard was able to cover his ears protecting him from the effects of the thunderstone. By the good grace of the gods, Kagon was spared from the effects as well. Serina, close to the window and Red were not so lucky and were struck deaf from the thundering stone. Kagon and Red quickly dropped the guard. Kagon stabilized the hapless guardsmen’s wounds hoping to gain info about the Ebon Triad and the lair beyond. Tolken opened another door to two more guards beyond.

These guards were armored in leather and each wielded a short bow and carried rapiers at their sides. They wore mustard yellow bandanas with black triangles pointed down, similar to the other guard’s tabards. After loosing their arrows, Tolken was able to kill them both quickly. This left one guard alive to answer some questions.

As Kagon and Conk interrogated the captured thug, the others could here the whistles of that bellow in the Kopru ruins. The algae in the lake bellow, separating the party from the ruins, cast an eerie green glow. The party stood at a ledge some 60’ above the eerie green lake bellow. A gondola swinging from a set of rope cables provided access to a beach landing across the lake where a gear house and other ruined buildings could be seen in the green glow of the lake. The Rooms on the ledge also housed gears.

After some time the captive was released, with a promise to turn himself in to Jenya upon his return to Cauldron. Rink cast light upon the thug’s forehead giving him a light source for a while and he ran off into the lava tube toward the surface.

After some time the company figured out how to operate the gondola. It was decided only half the party would go at a time. First to go were Tolken, Conk, Serina and Feston. Kagon, Wil and Rink would follow. Red would go ahead using his own rope around the gondola’s rope cable to slide to the beach bellow.

And more of “Here Come the Shiny Men (+ one fair maiden)

Red tried to sneak around the gear house and investigate beyond. Red’s descent was noticed by two guards and something else in the water. The two guards wore leather and were armed with short bows and rapiers. The two Ebon Triad guards drew their rapiers and circled around to ambush Red.

Tolken, Serina and Conk, slowly moved the gondola across the green glowing lake, to the beach landing and gear house bellow.

Red met the two rogue guardsmen behind the gear house out of view of the rest of the party. Red used his deadly hands to bloody the nose of the first guard. The two guards tried to exchange blows with Red, but were inept at hitting the quick moving Red.

From the depths of the green lake arose a black head with a long snout and a wide mouth full of pointy teeth. The head was followed by a long neck and a row of large spines across the nightmare creature’s back. Two webbed claws rose in front of the head of the watery beast and struck from behind, wounding Red. Red having faith (definitely needing it) in his new friends, continued to press his attack on the two Ebon Triad guards.

In a futile gesture of support Kagon threw a javelin at the beast loosing it in the waters of the green lake.

Reaching the landing, Tolken, Serina and Conk exited the gondola and began an attack upon the creature from the lake. Serina loosed an arrow striking the creature in the neck. “Spoon!!” unleashed Conk, moving quickly the fearsome warrior engaged the nightmare creature first, cracking the creature upon its head. Conk was in for a nasty surprise as four bony barbed tails whipped up out of the water from behind the beast to strike at the mighty ½ orc barbarian. Two of the barbs drove into the barbarian leaving nasty bleeding lacerations on his neck and shoulder. Tolken, 7 ½’ orc was heavily armored in a fine suit of spiked plate mail, waded through the water to reach the nightmare beast of the green lake. Tolken buried his blade deep into the side of the creature. The black beast of the green lake retaliated with wounding Tolken in the neck and back of the thigh. The disciplined ½ orc fighter, Tolken stood his ground then struck, severing the beasts head from its body. Again the mighty Tolken finds victory in battle.

The two guards fighting Red begin to retreat, unable to land a blow against the quick and deadly fists of Red. Red gives chase dropping one of the guards. The other makes it to a door, exiting the fray and alerting his comrades.

Both Tolken and Conk decided to use cure wound potions to stop the bleeding from the wounds of the watery beast's barbed tails.

Tolken and Serina secure the perimeter of the gear house and beach landing, while Red watches over the doors the guard entered for any ambushes. Conk returns with the gondola to the ledge and entrance cavern. Soon Tolken, Serina and Red are joined by Kagon, Conk, Feston, Rink and the enigmatic Wil.

The Company of the Shiny Man, decides to enter two doors simultaneously, the door entered by the escaping guard and the door the captured guard tried to enter. Serina and Red provided cover from the roof of the gear house. Tolken supported by Wil, would open the far door. Conk would open the door nearest the gear house with Kagon supporting him with a readied thunderstone. Feston covered from the corner of the gear house behind Conk and Kagon. Rink would cover the beach on the far side of the gear house far from any surprises from behind opened doors.

Feston is Dead!!!

Tolken entered from the left, Conk from the right. The two ½ orcs entered a large hall with a domed ceiling, rising 40’ above. A large table 10’ long table sat in the middle of the room. There was a door along the left room and another on the right wall. Beyond the table were two rogue guards. Behind them stood pair of double doors with the door on the left open. The Ebon Triad guards launched arrows at the 7’ plus ½ orcs.

“Spoon!!!” Moving quickly Conk spooned one rogue before he could retreat. The second rogue guard bolted through the door behind him shutting the door as he past through. Kagon moved in to secure the new prisoner. The others of the party quickly followed into the large meeting room.

It was decided, the company, would follow the escaping rogue through the double doors. Conk moved first into a 10’x40’ hallway with a pair of doors on the far side. The ½ orc barbarian Conk was followed by Tolken, Wil and the fair elf maiden Serina. Kagon, and Red would watch the door flanking on the right of the meeting hall, Rink and Feston watched the door flanked on the left.

Conk nearly fell into a 10’x10’x20’ deep spiked pit when he got within 10’ of the pair of doors on the far side of the hallway. Will determine there was no way he could disable the pit trap and decided they all go back to the meeting room. Just then six murder holes along both long walls, three on each side, opened up and spat arrows at the party. Serina and Wil were injured by a number of arrows. Tolken remained unscathed as the arrows bounced of his armor. Serina trying to retreat, set off another trap similar to the on Conk nearly fell in. Serina was not as lucky and fell into the pit. Her slender figure avoids the 2’ long spikes set on the bottom of the pit.

Conk again moving quickly, runs back from where he entered the deadly hallway and leaped across the pit that the unlucky Serina fell into. Conk then helps Feston Bulbous, warrior priest of Pelor; gather the large table in the meeting hall to negotiate the pit. They drop it in the pit, but in an angle. Serina uses the table to help her climb out of the pit. Wil, being riddled with arrows also leaps across the pit and into the meeting hall. Tolken decides to go the other way.

Red decides to open the door on the right wall of the meeting hall, revealing a small roughly 10’x10’ room, with another door on the opposing wall. Red decides to hold his ground at the door watching the far door.

Feston decides to open the door on the left wall and sees a small room with sticky strands of webs covering the floor walls and ceiling. He throws a flask of alchemy fire upon the floor igniting the webs. The webs from the ceiling fall upon the floor covering the surface in 6” of web. Feston and Conk stand on chairs in the room and decide to open another door on the left wall adjacent to the door Feston just opened.

Tolken runs toward the closed double door and attempts to leap across the spiked pit. The heavily armored and armed ½ orc falls into the spiked pit and gets skewered.

The door Red is watching opens and an arrow flies at Red. The arrow is followed by two guardsmen in chainmail wielding long swords and shields. They assault Red then retreat.

Conk uses his trusty “skeleton key” and spoons the door while standing on a chair so as not to get stuck in the web covering the floor he and Feston are in. Behind the door four guards in chainmail with swords and shields lie in wait. Feston, jumps into the doorway and bull rushes the waiting guards.

In the unraveling chaos, Kagon’s prisoner decides to make an escape. Kagon quickly puts an end to any escape. The atoned paladin then heals Serina with his divine abilities.

Serina and Wil drink cure wound potions and gather there wits. Wil readies his whip and Serina notches an arrow.

Feston Finds himself attacked on three sides by the Ebon Triad guards. Feston occupies the threshold and Conk is unable to attack, he throws a flask of alchemy fire. Feston is in trouble and fights for his life.

The mighty Tolken grabs his double axe and buries it in the stone wall of the pit. He uses the axe to help him climb scale the walls of the pit. Once he reaches the door. Tolken uses his spiked gauntlets to bash open the door, while holding himself on the threshold of the door. Tolken sticks with the plan and drives foreword.

Rink acts to help Feston and summons a flaming sphere on one of the guards attacking the good cleric of Pelor. Rink is successful in scorching the thug guardsmen. But in utter frustration Conk leaps in and bull rushes Feston pushing him into the flaming sphere, severely burning the hapless Cleric.

Kagon tries to enters the webbed floor room behind Conk in an attempt to participate in the assault of the side room, lead by Feston.

Red wearily watches the other door where other guards had retreated. On cue four guards rush the door. They are followed by a female warrior in black spiked plate mail swinging a large silver flail with both hands above her head. Out the back of her black helm, hangs a thick braid of red hair. Upon her chest is a silver medallion with the symbol of Hextor, Scourge of Battle, a gauntlet grasping six arrows. Two more rogue guards in leather armor with short bows and rapiers enter from the doors that exit to the beach of the green lake.

Wil casts a spell, producing grease upon the floor before the advancing female warrior. She slips and falls to the floor as she advances.

After gathering herself, the follower of Hextor advances on Serina who has drawn her sword. But her silver flail is covered in grease and the mighty warrior in black drops her weapon as she tries to attack. The guards fair better, able to land a number of blows on Serina, the elf maiden is again wounded but fights on with her long sword. Kagon realizing the warrior clad in black with the red braid of hair is Triel and advances upon her.

The determined Tolken bashes the door in and enters a huge cavern with work benches and a large bipedal demonic looking frog. The creature shrieks and Tolken’s ears begin to bleed. With glee Tolken attacks the creature with his 7’ long sword.

Feston is mortally wounded by one of the guards and begins to die. At this time Conk begins to clear the room of the Ebon Triad guards spooning one in the abdomen and braining another.

Things look bad for the Company of the Shiny Man. Rink is struck down and begins to die. Red is also struck down and lies unconscious. Serina also lies unconscious falling to the sword blow of the armored guards. Tolken is separated from the party engaged in combat with a demonic frog. Wil finds himself fighting armored men wielding swords and shields, unarmored with a whip. Kagon boldly attacks Triel, as two rogue guards flank him with rapiers, as Triel meets Kagon, the shining man, in mortal combat. Conk finally dropping the last guard, smashing his face. Conk begins to render first aid to his friend Feston Bulbous. It is too late. Feston is dead!

The Shiny Man Falls! Run for your lives!

The warrior priestess of Hextor, Triel, orders, “No quarter for the Shiny Men!” One chain mailed guard finishes off Serina, thrusting his sword into her stomach. Wil turns his attention to a rogue guard moving to finish off Rink, and flings the dagger end of his whip into the back of the culprit, and then with a flick of his wrist he returns the dagger to his hand. Conk finishes off the guard, moving on Rink, with his spoon. Another rogue Ebon Triad guard moves to finish off Red, preparing a “coup de grace.”

“Hextor…, give me the might to smite my enemy!” Screams Triel, “Die Shiny Man!” Triel swings her silver flail above her head and strikes, whipping the flail head around, smacking Kagon in the back of the head at the base of the skull, breaking the paladin’s neck, dropping him instantly. Kagon, The shining man lies dead upon the meeting room floor a puddle of blood begins to grow about his body. Triel, warrior priestess of Hextor is victorious against the Shiny Man, Kagon paladin of St. Cuthbert.

Kagon falls and Tolken is no where to be found. Wil decides to run yelling “Run Cronk or we’re finished.” Conk seeing his friends slain upon the ground follows. As Wil and Conk flee for there lives, a rogue guard slices Red’s throat, finishing off the adventurer/ hero.

After the demonic bipedal frog releases an awful shriek, Tolken moves his massive armored form forward to engage the creature. First Tolken thrust his sword into the creature’s abdomen, then rippes through the demonic frogs left shoulder, then with a mighty overhand swing, with his masterwork silver full blade, slicing through the creatures face, jaw, chest and bloated belly, slaying the beast.

Meanwhile, Wil runs out of sight behind the gear house and turns invisible. Conk follows heading for the lake. Triel and the others of the Ebon Triad, follow in pursuit. The Ebon Triad over runs the pair and heads them off before the two can reach the lake.

Wil invisibly sneaks pass Triel and her entourage, literally under their noses and dives into the green lake. Conk smacks Triel with his spoon and follows Wil diving into the eerie green lake. One guard spots Wil’s splash and attacks him, throwing a javelin. Wil decides to swim underwater and disappears. Conk is not so lucky and gets peppered with arrows as he swims across the green lake.

Triel and three guards jump in the gondola to head off Wil and Conk at the entrance cave atop the cliff across the green lake.

Back in the large work room, the mighty Tolken realizes his attempt to flank their enemies is unsuccessful and decides to return through the gauntlet. Tolken moves one of the tables in the massive workshop placing it across the first spiked pit. The ½ orc fighter crosses the gauntlet jumping on the table in the second pit. As Tolken emerges from the pit climbing on the table, he sees the beautiful Serina lying in a pool of blood with many arrow and sword wounds.

Tolken looks the scene over, Red is also dead and so is Kagon. But Tolken notices Rink lying in the webbed room. The webs around the sorcerer’s body are soaked with blood. The webs about Rinks mouth rise and fall rhythmically if only faintly. Rink is alive!

Tolken the mighty half orc fighter renders first aid to the odd little sorcerer Rink, pouring a curing potion down his throat. After Rink’s revival from near death, the odd pair retreats out the way they came in.

“Damn!!” Curses, Wil, as the enigmatic roguish wizard slips again trying to climb the cliff face to the passage out above. Triel and her guards in the gondola are gaining on Wil and Conk and are going to reach the exit first cutting off the pairs escape. Being invisible Wil fairs better than Conk. Conk continues to be hit by arrows from the guards now gathered upon the shore of the green lake. Conk grabs a flask of alchemy fire and throws it at the gondola now moving above the half orc barbarian’s position, the flask of alchemy fire, thrown by Conk, arcs over the heads of the gondola’s occupants. The flask smacks the rigging above Triel and her henchmen, lightings them and the interior of the gondola on fire. Conk throws another flask hitting the bottom of the gondola, lighting that on fire. The tide of the battle turns, as the bottom of the gondola falls out and the Ebon Triad cultists plummet to the water below.

Conk’s gambit clears the way for an escape. But one of the Ebon Triad guards falls on the half orc. It is too much for the mighty Conk and he falls into the water of the green lake and death. Triel in full plate also falls into the lake and sinks rapidly into the deep waters of the lake. Seeing this, the rogue guards on the beach shore strip of their leather armor and jump in to the water to save the warrior priestess.

Back in the ruins, Rink makes for the cavern walls a long the green lake’s edge. Tolken knowing he cannot outrun his enemies decides to fight his way out. The determined half orc fighter slices through the Ebon Triad guards as he makes for the beach of the green lake. But the cultists have one more surprise.

Appearing from behind the gear house, our four more Ebon Triad guards wearing chain mail under their mustard yellow tabards bearing the symbol of the Ebon Triad cult, a black triangle pointing down, wielding shields and long swords, they split up two bear down on Tolken and two run around the gear house along the beach. Another guard emerges from the gear house. Tolken swallows a couple of curing potions and prepares for battle. Just then a small robed figure appears and releases a terrible bolt of lightning crashing the two guards bearing down on Tolken, the mighty half orc fighter himself and scorching the guard emerging from the gear house.

Unconcerned the little mage laughs as the Ebon Triad guards scream in pain and are nearly killed by the amoral Halfling wizard. The guards move around the gear house and take cover and swallow cure potions of their own. The remaining guards, those moving around the gate house attacking from the beach and the one emerging from the gear house engage Tolken and his mighty silver full blade. Tolken quickly drops two guards; the one emerging from the gear house takes cover and drinks a cure potion.

The small mage finds courage and moves in. Thinking the guards have the situation with the mighty half orc, the halfling wizard attacks Rink before the funny flower covered sorcerer could escape. Rink survives the mysterious tiny mages magic missile attack, manifesting as tiny gruesome apparitions flying into the mages victim. Always the disciplined fighter, Tolken, assess the risks and moves to attack the tiny robed mage. Tolken’s 7’ long silver masterwork full blade falls quickly and forcefully down upon the skull of the surprised little mage. The mighty half orc fighter splits the hapless being into from top of the skull down through the groin. But Tolken and Rink’s escape is still not secured.

Wil is distraught, His life long friend Conk falls into the water and sinks lifeless 60’ bellow. Wil suddenly revealing himself drops a tangle foot bag on the area he believes Triel fell. He realizes his mistake as the green gooey sap dissipates in the green waters of the eerie underground lake. Wil is not convinced that Riel is dead and pulls a scroll and readies a spell.

Rink also has a few tricks up his sleeves and produces a scroll of his owns. He conjures a web himself covering the three remaining guards around the gear house. But wanting no fight, Rink casts spider climb upon himself and makes his escape along the cavern wall and to the exit cavern. Tolken seizes the opportunity offered by Rink’s spell and throws flasks of alchemy fire on the guards trapped by Rink’s conjured webs spell. The remaining Ebon Triad guards are gruesomely burned to death by Tolken as they remain helpless in the webs conjured by Rink.

Wil wants to make sure that Triel is really finishes and watches from a top the cliff with a scroll ready to cast a spell. At the same time Rink scurries across the wall to the exit passage where Wil lies in wait for Triel. Tolken finishes his gruesome work with the remaining Ebon Triad guards upon the beach of the underground green glowing lake.

Wil’s patience pays off, as a guard aids Triel out of her armor and swim to the surface. Wil casts Enervation from a scroll, sucking the remaining life out of Triel warrior priestess of Hextor. With a long bow from the shore of the beach across the green glowing lake, Tolken finishes off the guard trying to save Triel.

With help from Wil and Rink, Tolken is hoisted to the entrance cavern along the gondola cable. The three survivors escape the strong hold of the Ebon Triad with there lives. But five out of the eight member company has died, including both shiny men.

wow other people read this.

The surviving members revamped with new members and has returned to the kopru ruins as the Lake Warriors of Cauldron. Most of the human gaurds and Triel and Skaven died in the escape so the defenses are not what they were and I espect the party to be successful. The are much more cautious as % of the players lost characters the last time the entered this place.

HAR! If this is the famed Bohemian Earspoon, I can say it's good to see it in use! Been a long time since I saw one of those in action...or it's a Viking Earspoon, in which case - ICK.

Even if it's not...it's still a great story!
