I would love to see a "Silk Road" themed adventure/ campaign setting/ Adventure Path. With the end of Dragon and Dungeon it looks doubtful. Perhaps a 2nd party publisher might give it a try?

I am by no means a 3rd Party Publisher (although my wife and I do own a small printing company) I have been working on a Forgotten Realms campaign that takes the party from Waterdeep to Kara-Tur and back. I started a thread about it on ENWorld (www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=202193).

Actually there is a supplement that was published by Expeditious Retreat Press which covers how to add the Silk Road into your campaign. I found it to be very informative. It's called A Magical Society: Silk Road.

As for anime and manga, it would depend on which ones they took as examples or inspiration.
Fushigi Yuugi and even Avatar, the Last Airbender have an eastern flavor that is rather well done. A great Chinese comic (manga style) is The Celestial Zone. Although I would be remiss if I didn't point out that Fushigi Yuugi and The Celestial Zone are very China-centric.
For Chinese literature there is always The Romance of the Three Kingdoms and The Water Margin.

For India, there is RG Veda. The Heroic Legend of Arslan is based on a Persian story.

All in all, about the only thing I do NOT wish to see is an Eastern Setting which was done in the Saban sentai fashion like Hengeyokai by White Wolf. Not to say that a sentai style game world wouldn't be interesting if done correctly... but that would take a lot of work and would be far too specific to be placed in any pre-existing campaign.

A comic story I enjoyed is "The Way of the Rat". Check it out if you get the chance.

Swashbuckling Adventures/ 7th Sea did a few setting books that had a silk road theme. One is set in the Quasi Turkish section of that campaign world and another mirrors China. I believe the one for China has d20 rules but the Mid Eastern piece is 7 Sea rules.

It's just a tid bit but it might inspire some.

With the apparent success of PATHFINDER 1-6 (so far) allowing them to plan out to #7 -12, I think a push for an Asian PATHFINDER would be the way we need to go.

Surely possibilities for mixed classes, races, and a continuous Campaign abounds with an "along the Silk Road" theme/setting---perhaps even opening the door for a PATHFINDER Epic Level adventures???

Indeed, surely only Epic Level heroes would be worthy of changing the fates of entire nations [yes, plural!], correct ???

"Team Jacobs" has already shown that they like to create new lands and cultures by introducing Golarion and Varisia, (and they're good at it!) so to create an Asian World framework that Players and DMs could drop their favorite characters into (even if the class weren't from the OGL) would be perfect!!!

Paizo's R&D is one step ahead of you... sort of.

There won't be a Tian Xia (Golarion's Asia analogue) AP until there has been at least one successful Tian Xia GameMastery Module. I'm pushing (hard) for a Tian Xia gazetteer, so anyone else who would be interested in that should contact Jason and let him know we'd like to see it on the product list (preferably before, say, 2010). ;D

Excellent!

What's the best (get the most results) way to contact Jason-san? :->

((My apologies for Dumb Question #2187...))

The Exchange RPG Superstar 2011 Top 32

Somewhere, during some debate involving Ameiko, it's been suggested to have a journey type AP that follows her ancestors' path to Varisia. Why not build it into the Second Darkness AP plot?

Plus it's a good excuse to have Drow ninja. They own the night!

You can find contact information for all of us on the Contact Us page. But don't tell anyone else, okay? It'll be our little secret. :)

I just sent in my request!!!!

Liberty's Edge

Yeah, I'd be down for that.

Liberty's Edge

I think a few of those Pathfinder journals would be groovy to tap into that, like a big temple or something, and some monsters from afar.

Liberty's Edge

Woah....one could rebuild a whole lotta oriental monsters, too.

Samurai Orcs anyone?

How about Hobgoblin Hordes (think Mongols)?
