Sheesh, it's cheaper to ship overseas than domestically now. Cheapest option to ship to Texas is $12.26.

You win this round, Europe! *shakes fist*

I was looking at shipping prices from the UK the other day and it costs me more to send something to an island off the coast of Scotland that it does to ship it to the other side of Europe... admittedly I can understand that one due to the logistics of getting the package onto a small boat and crossing a mile or so of sea vs shoving it on a plane that's headed across Europe with a ton of other packages.

What confused me though was that it costs me slightly more to ship to Northern Ireland (part of the UK) than it does to the Republic of Ireland (another country altogether).

If it makes you feel better, that $8.22 is for an estimate shipping transit time of (on average) 9-36 business days. Some countries are 9-40 business days. This is after it leaves our warehouse. The cheapest US domestic* option is going to have a transit time of I think a maximum 8 or nine business days. And some deliveries do use up that entire 36/40 business day estimate, though most do arrive sooner (I think often around business day 20-25).

*:
Hawaii and AP/APO/FPO, US territory's will often supply us with quotes from 4-8 business days, but regularly take significantly longer to arrive. Hawaii and US territory's (like Guam) are generally about and extra week or so (depending) and the AP/APO/FPO are routinely a month, (the estimate supplied is for the package to arrive at the APO processing facility (I think there are, like, 3 total). Depending on when the last shipment went out, it could sit in the facility for an extra week or more before continuing on to the overseas base it is heading to.

My new lower shipping price was $10.69--still kinda high but MUCH better than $16.16.
Enough so, in fact, that I went ahead and ordered the one with the Pathfinder Beginner Box art.

Thank you, Paizo, for listening to those of us who thought the shipping price was high and making an adjustment.
This is yet another reason (on a long list) to love you guys! :)

P.S. If you want to remove my earlier post on this thread, please go ahead.
Now that the problem has been addressed, that probably shouldn't be one of the first things potential buyers see.

Yay, mine arrived today - I think that's the fastest delivery I've had yet. US West Coast to the UK in 11 days!

Absolutely no issues at all with the packaging - it was nice and safe folded in half in the box, no problems with the artwork after straightening it out, no permanent creases, etc. So thanks again, Paizo :)
