New Pathfinder Player Companion now available!

Learn the secrets of rooting out demonic corruption with the latest Pathfinder Player Companion!

Merciless and utterly lacking in remorse, demons are embodiments of the worst in humanoid races, and they prey upon all. In Pathfinder Player Companion: Demon Hunter's Handbook, your character will learn how to identify which demon lord's cultists they face, handy equipment (alchemical, magical, or just darn useful), or weaponry like the angel quill arrowhead and sun cinder. Demon hunting has a long and painful history in the Inner Sea, and you'll learn about the Mendevian Crusades and the spreading corruption in the elven nation of Kyonin. Like our other Pathfinder Player Companions, this volume contains new feats like Demonic Nemesis, the cold iron warden archetype for inquisitors, roles like the Wardstone sentry and Sarkorian wastelander, and traits like True Name Caller and campaign traits for the Wrath of the Righteous Adventure Path like Chance Encounter and Stolen Fury!

Check out the rest of our Pathfinder Player Companions here, and get a chance to be the good guy with the Wrath of the Righteous Adventure Path!

".. get a chance to be the good guy with the Wrath of the Righteous Adventure Path!"

Shouldn't that be the default assumption for most adventure paths? Yes, neutral alignments are common. Yes, personal profit and glory motivates many PCs. But it's been said before that there aren't hordes of high level good guys in the campaign world because the PCs are intended to be the heroes.

Reading the boards here I sometimes get the sense that there are more orc or half-orc scarred witch doctor PCs running around than there are good aligned human clerics. And yeah, evil alignment isn't a prerequisite for the archetype, but note the more powerful hexes that complement it: agony, cook people, infected wounds, nightmare, death curse, dire prophecy, natural disaster. Not your typical heroes.

This actually looks like the most interesting part of the book. I'm interested in knowing how the various demon cults operate, what regalia they wear, et cetera...especially if I'm going to feature them in a game that I run or (Gods forbid!) play as one in an Evil campaign.

Well, Reign of Winter makes no particular assumption, Shattered Star is about and for Pathfinders (Neutral-leaning), and Skull and Shackles is about pirates.

The last time we had a "Good" AP was arguably Jade Regent, or a year and a half ago.

A minor correction; that's a common misconception, but it is not true. Change a few names, and just about any other organization (or no organization, and just some concerned citizens) can be substituted. The Pathfinder Society was the obvious name to use as the default, but there's really little to nothing that makes it at all dependent upon them.

Doesn't really speak to the main point - the adventure path is still written in the assumption that the PCs are Pathfinders. This carries with it certain baggage that informs how the adventures are developed. One of those is that they don't have strong motivation to go out into the world and "do good." Hence the path being "neutral-leaning", it works equally well if you're good or evil, and actually tends to be better if you're neither.

You can make it fit the "good guy campaign" mould, but it isn't one by default, and the amount of effort to make it such is a bit higher than you'd think.
