Paizo, you have such great, deep, well thoughtout lore and world building. Please do yourselves and us simple folks a favor and continue the novels. You have such great characters that you shelved, like Salim Gadafar, the Atheist priest hunter that sold his soul to Pharasma... bring these characters back. Cheers
He's one of my favorites. I wish he showed up more.

I am cool with either, but want to make sure that if I need to pre-order that I do so.
It is not mentioned as being part of the Tales Subscription. I believe it is a stand-alone product.

The street date beyond paizo.com will remain November 5. Changing its release across the entire book channel was too hard to do last minute.
And thanks for reviewing the book. Every rating and review, in any language, helps sell the book and ensure a strong relaunch for the line.

That said, any word on when the audiobook version will be avaliable?
We are having some technical difficulties getting the files uploaded to the Paizo store, but hope to have it available for purchase today.
It will be available on Audible and the Apple store once the files (submitted a few weeks ago) make it through their (frustratingly slow and opaque) review/QC process.
On other audiobook markets like the Google Play Store, the audiobook should be available on Nov. 5, along with the physical and digital version in the wider book channel.

"Why did Ghol Gan fell?"
and
"Why Eye of Abendego exists?"
The Lore dumps, insight into cultures and magic shoptalk alone are worth picking up the novel.

Samantha Moon has a voice I feel like I've heard before. I thought she had narrated the Skinwalker series, but when I looked it up she had not.
She has narrated other titles under a different name, but this is the credit she requested we use for this book. I don't believe she has narrated any of the prior Pathfinder Tales audiobooks unless she used a different pseudonym.

The audiobook investment is impressive, Samantha Moon did a fantastic job voice acting everybody. I can't imagine anyone else trying to do Kyra. Maybe use some music you have available, since you have a large library of sounds and music at your disposal?
Mark, can you tell us if the sales are encouraging you to do more novels? I need more pathfinder novels...badly.
Also, when you click on godsrain on the main page, the link doesn't work.

Wow, super excited for this. I have a bookshelf of all the other Pathfinder novels, but think I will ebook + audio this as I just don't find it comfortable to hold hardbacks for long chunks of time anymore. (Not at all a complaint, I love the ability to pick a different format - or in this case, two formats, on kindle + audio - to meet my personal preferences and needs.)
I hope that it does well enough that we get a few other novels. And really happy to see more Liane Merciel writing in the Pathfinder-verse.

I just got my book today, and it's a good size! And Really well written.
Easy to read, each chapters small, and cut in perfect places. I have read the first 3 chapters, and I think it will be easy to sneak a chapter here and there, with longer reading sessions consisting of a bunch of them. :3
The iconics are well written, and each have a distinct "voice" in the writting. Each chapters start with an icon to tell you which of the 4 iconics is not only the focus, but the PoV too. This means that each chapters feel slightly different from the previous one, and gives you a broader picture of not just the event, but also each iconics, with how they see each others.
Full review coming after I finish reading it!

Having just finished Nothin But A Good Time: The Uncensored History of the '80s Hard Rock Explosion, I would love to pick up this one for something completely different. Well, almost completely different, as both appear to share one common plot point:
Plus they may have another commonality in that one name led to another similar-sounding name. Much like Ratt guitarist Warren DeMartini was the inspiration for Warrant (who had WAY more songs than "Cherry Pie"), Merisiel may also be derived from Merciel. (I, for one, will almost surely say one when I mean the other!)

This might be a silly question, but will this be part of the old Pathfinder Tales subscriptions? Or do we need to order it as a standalone product?
I am cool with either, but want to make sure that if I need to pre-order that I do so.
Nice that someone else thought to ask instead of assuming like I did. I suppose the fact the subscription itself doesn't show in my posts was a big clue.
For anyone still wondering - the answer is clearly "No".
Separate question: Will it include the paperback if/when it comes?

Sidenote: Considering that the hardcover sold out that fast, I would assume a paperback is very likely!
But! About it being a "Pathfinder Tales": Neither the product description nor the actual book actually even just mention "Pathfidner Tales". It is outside the line. They mention a couple of the novels from it, but as "Other Pathfinder novels by Liane Merciel", never using the "Tales" name.
They did put it in the "Tales" section in the shop, but it might be a limitation of... well, preferring to have all the novels in the same place.
So I wouldn't bet on a possible paperback being part of the tales sub. But I can be wrong.

The Pathfinder Tales brand is retired, the last title of which was released in 2017. Since we don't have a regular release cadence for fiction like we did with Tales (bi-monthly releases) there is no subscription for fiction at this time. Even if we were to do a fiction subscription down the road, it would be a new thing, since suddenly resurrecting a subscription from 8+ years in the past pushes the legality of the agreement Tales subscribers signed when starting their subs back as early as 2010.

Pretty much what I expected, but I didn't want to speculate too much.
Thanks for clarifying!
And yes, there would absolutely be a bunch of people that would catch it too late and be angry that they were "forced" into buying it when they don't want it anymore.

Great work from both the author and narrator of the audiobook! I enjoyed how different elements of the game were worked in very naturally, as well as the overall writing style. That said, I can see why Paizo hasn't written full stories with the iconics- they feel a bit flatter for fitting certain character archetypes so well. For all the depth of backstory, Ezren is still a wizardy wizard who wizards, because that's what he was designed to be. Same for the other three protagonists. Not something that would stop me from recommending it, but I'll be happy if there is a return to original character protagonists in future books.

I am enjoying the book and glad to see that the first print run already sold out. I hope this means that this product is considered a success. I hope to see future hardback novels. Maybe 1 or 2 annually.
