Golarion calls for exploration! After a year filled with research and a legendary villain's grand plan, it's now time for the Society to return to its creed: Explore! Report! Cooperate! With a member of the Decemvirate handpicking agents and assignments and new venture-captains eager to earn their stripes, who knows what this season will hold! With new allies and new enemies making their moves, it's time to start planning the next great adventure and plot the course of a new year! Welcome to the Year of Unfettered Exploration!

Pathfinder Society scenarios are 4-5 hour adventures which immerse you as a hero in ongoing Pathfinder Society storylines and provide numerous opportunities to contribute to a year-long metaplot. The Pathfinder Society Year of Unfettered Exploration – Deluxe Edition (Full Season) module allows players to experience all 20 scenarios of Pathfinder Society Year of Unfettered Exploration with the full suite of Foundry VTT features, using maps, tiles, tokens, sounds, and much more to bring you content which truly cannot be experienced in the same way anywhere else.

This module includes all 20 scenarios in Pathfinder Society Year of Unfettered Exploration released to date. Scenarios not yet available at the time of purchase will be automatically added to the module in a free update on the same day they are released in PDF format. You can also purchase just the first half or second half of the season as separate modules, each containing 10 of these 20 scenarios.

Pathfinder Society Year of Unfettered Exploration – Deluxe Edition (Full Season) for Foundry VTT includes:

  • High-resolution character artwork and tokens for the unique monsters and NPCs in each scenario, plus a blank token ring and background for customizing your game.
  • High-resolution Pathfinder Flip-Mat maps for staging the encounters in each scenario.
  • Custom-themed journal entries for all adventure content in each scenario, including additional encounter notes and Foundry VTT tips.
  • Custom landing pages for each scenario.
  • All scenes pre-configured with walls, lights, and sounds. A custom macro places tokens and hazards auto-scaled to match each group, providing GMs with the most convenient experience running the adventure for all parties.
  • Soundscapes provided as ambient playlists and local sound sources to immerse your players, created by Michael Ghelfi Studios.

This purchase will grant you an activation code which can be activated through your Foundry VTT account page at https://foundryvtt.com/me/purchases (downloadable from your My Downloads page on paizo.com). Afterwards you will be able to install the "Pathfinder Society Year 6 – Deluxe Edition (Full Season)" module on the Foundry Virtual Tabletop setup screen. To learn more about activating and installing premium content in Foundry Virtual Tabletop, visit https://foundryvtt.com/article/premium-content/. This purchase does not grant access to any Pathfinder Society scenario PDFs; these can be purchased separately at the Paizo store.

This module is also available as an asset pack which contains all maps, tiles, tokens, and sounds needed to supplement the scenarios, but does not include the scenarios themselves. You can purchase PDFs of these scenarios at the Paizo store, or simply use the included assets to create your own stories and adventures!

The Foundry Virtual Tabletop software is required to use this product. For more information, visit https://foundryvtt.com/.

Solid offering and rapid errata

4/5

I've run the two scenarios released so far and in general I'm very happy with how its gone. I've been able to run from the journal directly without having either the PDF open, or printed in on my desk. Definitely has saved me at least an hour per scenario of prep.

I had some feedback after the first one regarding the CP scaling macro that was confusing some users, and they've already fixed it. (asking the user to select high-tier versus low tier AND also the total challenge points -- the former is derivable from the latter). The token placement marco works well.

At launch there was some problems with easily sharing some images from the inline journal versus the art appendix, but again, fixed within a week of reporting.

4-star versus 5-star for me, because there has been any useful aids for the more complicated skills checks. (For instance the closing scene of 5-02, probably should have a aid for the six locations with descriptions and maybe listing the skills usable, etc). If we get a chase/influence mini-game I would expect some form of visual aid, for instance.

Exellent

5/5

Unprecedented idea with a season long release. The journals are nicely done. The scaling macro that automatically knows the parties CP rating and sets encounters accordingly is amazing.

The team behind this product truly care for the source and have made playing PFS that much better. Truly a standard, set the bar.

Thank you!

Just to clarify. Does the Deluxe Edition legally allow you to gm and report the PFS Scenarios WITHOUT the need to buy the pdf separately?

Hello there, would it be possible to have some screenshots, especially for the journal. In the previous Foundry package for 4-13 and 4-14 Journals were only NPC pictures. I'm expecting a full journal with all information from the pdf and shortcuts/macros for any rolls I request to players.
thanks

Hi all! Please remember to submit bug reports through the service portal linked on the landing journal entry or directly via this link: https://support.sigil-services.com/. That's the best place to make sure the developers see it. Thanks!

The Foundry package we released for 4-13 and 4-14 is more akin to the "Asset Pack" options we are now offering, which is intended for GMs who already own the PDFs and just want maps, tokens, and macros for easy scaling and setup. The "Deluxe Edition" options are more like our premium Adventure Path modules and include everything in the Asset Pack, plus all of the adventure content from every scenario laid out in custom-styled adventure journals.

Watch this space; we'll definitely be adding screenshots soon to showcase the difference!

How does the Deluxe option handle the Chronicles that the GM would need to distribute to the players?

At present, the Deluxe Editions provide a Chronicle code and a link to a printable Chronicle Sheet PDF for each included scenario. We're also actively looking into ways we can improve and automate that process in the future with expanded support from various Paizo APIs!

thank you very much can't wait for the deluxe edition then

It makes me very happy that the Front End/Tech team understood the question and had a good answer ready :)

I think it looks like some bit hasn't been flipped over in Foundry land -- after purchasing the content and activating it on my FoundryVTT account the key shows up as successfully activated, but you can't get the manifest url to install into an actual foundry server. The modules also don't show up in the list of possible Paizo premium modules. The link from the activated content that should go to the module description page instead redirects back to the module search page.

This problem has now been fixed. Sorry about that!

Confirmed, Module is installed and everything looks good now.

I cannot install this module!
After the installation is at 100% I get the following error message:
Installation Failed: EBUSY: resource busy or locked, unlink '/foundrydata/Data/modules/pf2e-pfs05-year-of-unfettered-exploration/assets /scenes-1/.nfs0000000008665464000002fc'.See the console (F12) for more details.
When I do it, I become:
[/foundrydata/Data/modules/pf2e-pfs05-year-of-unfettered-exploration/module.json] Error loading module "/foundrydata/Data/modules/pf2e-pfs05-year-of-unfettered-exploration/module .json": ENOENT: no such file or directory, open '/foundrydata/Data/modules/pf2e-pfs05-year-of-unfettered-exploration/module .json'
What can I do with these critical failures?

I am hosting on foundryserver and I have more than enough free space on my server. Foundry is on v11 build 308

This appears to be a node.js error, as opposed to something specific to the module or to Foundry itself. Your best bet is probably to reach out to FoundryServer support (or ask for assistance on their Discord) to see if they can help you get it sorted. Good luck!

During preparation I like using the pdf (even old school printed). Are you considering the option to release a super deluxe version that includes the pdf?

The pdfs are sold by Paizo, not Foundry. I'm just happy they actually did journal entries, I absolutely do not want to have to poorly fiddle with copying from the pdf to get a usable game.

Just to be clear, both the PDFs and the Foundry modules are sold exclusively by Paizo.

It's a possibility for the future, but not something we currently have planned. I went into a bit more detail on the reasons why here, if you're curious.

I'll just toss in my 2 copper pieces to mention that I, too, would love to see these come with the PDFs. Right now I hardly buy Society modules, but this including the PDFs would do the trick and I'd buy the whole season upfront. Being able to readily read the module (which means a PDF, because I'm not really able to read through Foundry journal entries on a phone which is where I generally read adventures) is critical to me, and having the convenience of them all being ready to go in Foundry would probably cause me to actually run some scenarios; right now, the time needed to prep a one-shot in Foundry (when I'm already also doing prep for whole campaigns) isn't something that I'm often interested in adding to my schedule.

So, that may be anecdotal, but I'd be least one sale of the PDF+Foundry bundle, whereas currently I'm not getting either aside from the very occasional one-off scenario.

Absolutely understand. Bundling the PDF with the module is actually our preferred approach, for exactly the reasons you mentioned, which is one of the reasons we include them with all of our Adventure Path modules. The problem is figuring out how to properly value the PDF part of such an offer without also driving the price of the overall module up to something far higher than we're comfortable with. I'll quote a reply I gave in a different thread:

Andrew White wrote:
... It's tricky to make the numbers work once we add PDFs (or PDF discounts) to the mix, because then we have to balance the price of the Foundry module around the price of the PDF. This was a big part of the reason why our original release at PaizoCon only offered asset packs and didn't even offer an option to include journals; by making a supplementary product with just the tokens and maps and macros, we could offer support for every scenario PDF for a flat $4 without having to consider whether you'd gotten the PDF for full price, at a subscriber discount, or for free. (I went into some of that rationale here at the time.) Obviously, your feedback did end up convincing us to offer an option with fully integrated journals after all, but at least as of right now, the best/cheapest option if you want a Foundry module and the PDFs is still going to be the asset pack.

Remember that the Asset Packs still includes all of the same tokens, maps, and macros as the Deluxe Edition, so all of the setup is still done for you. You'd just need to buy the PDFs separately and load them into Foundry using one of the various PDF reader modules available (or just have them open on another screen).

Unfortunately the journals are missing from the two new scenarios (5-03 and 5-04).

This was a bug and was fixed in release 1.1.1, which was released October 1st. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Just updated from an early version (not sure which one) to 1.1.2, and I don't see a way of importing the new scenarios. I could very well just be missing something, though.

When first installed, it popped up a dialog to install the first two scenarios. Nothing like that appeared after updating this time around.

In the compendiums tab (the little encyclopedia symbol in the upper right) there is an Adventure compendium for all the scenarios. Click on the one you want and it will give you the Import window again.

Just so I am clear for myself, the price is for the scenarios and the supplementals for the entire season on Foundry, correct? That is $150 for everything?

For every scenario you get the entire contents of the scenario as linked journal entries in Foundry; you get maps and scenes walled, lit, etc for each encounter (including significant skill challenges); you get artwork and tokens for every monster and every significant NPC; you get sound effects and ambient sounds; you get a single page PDF of the chronicle sheet.

You do not get a copy of the complete PDF of the scenario, but you definitely get everything needed to run and report all the scenarios. I hope that eliminates any ambiguity.
