Every creature, every variant, every portrait, tokenized and ready for use.

A truly comprehensive collection of portrait and token artwork for more than 1,200 creatures including their variants. This all-in-one package exclusive to Foundry VTT combines all of the artwork from the Pathfinder Bestiary, Bestiary 2, and Bestiary 3 for Pathfinder Second Edition into a single collection. Clockwork constructs, dangerous devils, deadly dragons, nightmarish niliths, ominous orcs, slithering serpentfolk, plaintive petitioners, and untamable undead—no creature goes unrepresented.

This unique, exclusive bundle includes:

  • Tokens for all 1207* creatures included in the Pathfinder Second Edition game system for Foundry VTT, including Tokens for previously unseen creatures such as petitioners, variants of the living rune, living graffiti, and imperial dragons!
  • High-resolution portrait art pieces for all of the creatures in the bestiaries.
  • Dozens of custom portraits unique to this collection, composited using images from Paizo's vast vault of artwork.
  • A blank copy of the token ring, so you can make tokens that match for your own homebrew creatures and your party! (webp format)

* - some creatures such as the spellcaster variants of Dragons share the same art.

Installation

Purchasing this product from the Paizo store will grant you an activation code which can be used through your Foundry VTT account page to activate the content for installation. Afterwards you will be able to install the “Pathfinder Token Pack: Bestiaries" module from the Foundry Virtual Tabletop setup screen.

After installing the module, it must be activated within a Game World. To do so:

    • Access the Settings Sidebar tab
    • Click "Manage Modules"
    • Locate the "Pathfinder Token Pack: Bestiaries" Module, enable it, and save module settings.

Once enabled, the Pathfinder Token Pack: Bestiary module maps portrait and token art to every creature in the compendium packs for all three bestiaries, and the tokens and portraits should be automatically displayed when you open either the compendium browser or the compendium packs directly.

Frequently Asked Questions

I Already Own The Bestiary PDFs, Is There A Discount?

Historically, we have offered discounts for Foundry Virtual Tabletop packages when the modules are conversions of existing Paizo works, such as adventure paths. However, as this token pack is an entirely new and stand-alone product, not a conversion of any single book or PDF, there is no original publication that we can use as the basis for a PDF discount.

It's important to remember that this product is not simply a Foundry VTT port of the Pathfinder Bestiary books. In fact, all of the rules content (including creature statistics) from every official Pathfinder source, including the bestiaries, is already included in the Pathfinder Second Edition Game System for Foundry VTT. This product offers token and portrait artwork for every single one of those creatures. The tokens included in this product are unique and have not been re-released, and we have also included many difficult-to-find or wholly custom pieces of art, making it a truly unique collection.

How Much Space Do I Need?

Thanks to the technological advancement that is webp image compression, we have been able to include the entire package at less than 300MB.

Where Did You Get The Art?

The overwhelming majority of creatures were easily sourced-- they were the art pieces included in the bestiaries originally. However, some creatures either did not have art included in the original bestiary books, were simply one-line descriptions offered as a variant of an existing creature, or were otherwise unavailable. For those pieces, we worked closely with Paizo Inc. to locate art for creatures from books outside the bestiaries, pieces from a variety of pawn boxes and battle cards, and even unused concept art. In some rare cases, such as the Petitioners or the Living Graffiti, we used source art from a variety of books to composite suitable images which would align with the creature descriptions while respecting the work of the original artists and submitted those for approval to Paizo's art team. We are very pleased to say that every single creature is represented.

What Creatures Does This Pack Include?

We've been asked about some of the most obscure creatures and whether we include art for them--the short answer is that if they are listed in the bestiaries, we have included art for them. However, for a complete list of what this pack includes:

Very happy with it

5/5

Worth every penny.

5/5

Yup it was worth it. I figure all the rules are available everywhere online and in the FVTT so this is my way of paying the value of a hardcover that I wouldn’t otherwise get. It’s super cool being able to drop any tokens in my game and they all pop out from the token frame.

Great Value, Would Buy Another In A Heartbeat

5/5

This is such a great value and the art really makes all the encounters feel so much better and cooler. Pair this with an animation module and everything looks great. It makes me excited to try more in the bestiary. Would love a token pack for things in the Book of the Dead next!

Amazing

5/5

I really hesitated because of the price tag, but after trying it out I was amazed at how beautiful the tokens are and how they make PF more exciting for both me and my players. I also find great value not only in the time saved creating tokens (which will certainly be worth way over the price tag), but also in the fact that I can improvise and bring any creature at all into the session while making it look like it was planned all along.

However, what prompted me to come leave a review was the small but very thoughtful detail that the original token assets are included in the data folder so I can easily create my own tokens in the same style. I just never get disappointed by these products.

Just want to say these look absolutely gorgeous. I'm consistently impressed by the dedication shown in the Paizo-released Foundry modules and this one looks spectacular so far. I can't wait to get home and give it a test run.

$60 for all the monsters in all the Bestiaries is an absolute steal too. Just an immense time savings and great production value for that price.

Could we have npc tokens next, please? And/or more APs

Just in time to put on my Christmas list. On top of that they look absolutely phenomenal. I love how some of them are bigger than the actual token showing their true size or the one with the long neck to better illustrate how it's long neck gives it reach.

They said in a stream that if this is successful, and if they end up making another of these token packs, NPCs is definitively on top of the list.

Would it be possible to get a version of this that's just the tokens (i.e. not the integrated stat blocks)? I'd pay this much just to have the tokens usable on Roll20, don't care about using the built in stat blocks though.

As the stat blocks are already a part of foundry, I don't think this has anything to do with it. However I'm not sure if you can reverse engineer this to get at the artwork.

I know it's not feasible to buy this and do that, I was asking if Paizo could make a separate product that's just the token graphic files.

These *are* just the graphic files. You will find them in a folder, portraits and rings.

All the "module" does is "map" the images to the actors (stat blocks) so you should be able to use them on Roll 20.

However, if you are playing PF2E you really really really should check out and use Foundry VTT. You get 100% of the PF2E content for free! (Every creature, feat, spell, etc) and it's just the best experience IMO.

Instantly buying these. These are fantastic!

Initial reaction- I'm not terribly fond of the art extending outside of the token ring in regards to managing spacing and movement (like the one pic of the dragon) but I'd like to hear how it plays out in use which might turn me around on it.

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but you need to ask Roll20 if they can make a token pack, not Paizo to provide a token pack for Roll20. This product was created by the people that work for FoundryVTT for their virtual tabletop.

I'm a fan of it. I think it adds to the flavor. I don't use pog style tokens, and when I make tokens that have parts like that, I always prefer them to overhang.

Extremely stoked to see this!!

I went and checked the most popular roll20 token packs (sorting by most popular, top three results), and those are $6 for 36, 39, or 34 tokens. For the most popular bordered tokens (a more comparable selection), it's $6 for 50 or 52 tokens, or $8 for 23 tokens.

So this is actually less than half of market price, even before you factor in the higher quality art. You're saving 50%+ by buying 1200 tokens in bulk, instead of getting them in the smaller packs tokens normally come in.

At $10, you'd be asking to get twelve times as many tokens as you normally would.

It's actually not. Taking Forgotten Adventures for example, which is a fairly common place to get tokens, they average about $0.03-4 a token. They're not a brand name like Pathfinder or Dungeons and Dragons. If you take this, it's about $0.05 a token meaning that that extra $0.01-2 is made in brand recognition. So this isn't "far above market price" at all, it's actually fairly reasonable, especially since a majority of the work in creating a set like this is taking existing art work, condensing it to a resolution that will not only keep as much detail as possible and doing the custom fits to rings.

5 people marked this as a favorite.

60 USD for 1200 tokens is laughably cheap, and I'd buy it in a heartbeat even if it cost 120 bucks. At this price, this is a borderline steal. Most of "generic" token packs KyleS mentions are full of, erm, generic monsters, this one gives you all the obscure and specific stuff. Best digital product by Paizo in a long time. A sequel with non-Bestiary monsters, please.

When I make tokens for my VTT sessions, I usually have multiple colors of rings for multiples of monsters. Example, four skeletons would have a red, blue, yellow, and green ring to make designation easier. Any chance there might be some way I can do that with these? Or have some sort of coloring designation that I'm not aware of as I have barely begun to use Foundry?

Thanks!

Does this include versions of the tokens where the art doesn't extend past the borders of the "ring"?

Hey folks! I have some question:
1. Can i use the artworks with other systems, like pf1?
2. The images are labeled consistently, something like "goblin.png"?

Sorry for my bad english and Thanks in advance for the replies! :)

At 1200+ Tokens, this comes out to less than 2.5 cents per piece of art (avatars, and tokens), or if you only care about tokens, 5 cents per token.

If someone is making their own tokens, let's assume they value their time at $15 an hour and that they can find a source image, create a token, and link it to their compendium in 3 minutes which would be $0.75 per token. At that rate, you'd break even at 80 tokens.

Of course, people value their time differently, just like other people value the style and quality differently.

If we wanted to compare this to Roll20 though, I bought each compendium for $50 ($150 total) which came with statblocks and tokens. But here's the thing-- not every monster had dedicated art (Invisible Stalker had none, and Zephyr hawk used a regular hawk art as just two glaring issues).

Compare this to Foundry where statblocks are already included in base system, and you're buying bestiary 1-3 avatar/tokens for $60. Already that is severely less than what R20 charged, AND you get art for every single creature. Including some that haven't been in any product previously (bestiary, battle cards, etc).

Anyway, as far as the price is concerned, Atropos had this to say:

Atropos, Pathfinder2e Foundry Community discord server wrote:
We know that many of you would happily pay more for such a token pack, and we certainly considered it, but we wanted to choose a price point that would feel accessible to less diehard fans and help draw users in to the system. $60 was a number that really emphasized the "premium"-ness of the product while not being unatainable for most users. It also was consistent with the price point of our Abomination Vaults conversion which set a precedent for a "big release". Hopefully our intuition on this will be proven right and we'll sell lots of copies

1. You can! Though part of the coolness of the module is used with pf2e system. The community developers built in an image-mapping function which allows a module to map images to the compendiums so that the images are always set for every game you create, and don't reset after the game updates. That only works for pf2e.

But there's nothing stopping you from using the images for other systems, whether that is pf1, 5e, or what have you. They'll work for the actors in your world if you change the image within the world.

2. They are categorized and named by their creature type and creature name. For example Doppleganger is under pf2e-tokens-bestiaries\tokens\aberrant\humanoid\Doppleganger.webp. Or an Ember fox is under pf2e-tokens-bestiaries\tokens\elemental\fire\Ember-fox.webp.

No, but there are avatars with the full art that could be used to create your own tokens.

Also keep in mind that pf2e in foundry you are able to cycle the token order (z-axis) by pressing Z while hovered over the token. So even if art extends past their grid, you will be able to keep tokens visible.

No. just one token frame. it would severely bloat the filesize of the module to have multiples of each monster, and then that would also take away from the usability. The magic of just one token per monster is that it can be mapped to your compendium and then it 'just works'. no Fiddling around.

And as an aside, color isnt a very good way to distinguish monsters IMO as it is not accessible to all players. It is better to use numbers, or adjectives. The xdy workbench module, or the Token Mold modules both are free and capable of adding adjectives or numbers to monsters so they can be distinguished by this way instead of color. For instance I use random adjectives in my game. The workbench can also mystify the name based on the traits which is pretty cool tool.

The module includes the tokens and the full portrait art, plus blank rings. You can easily use that ring and the portrait to stamp out a regular pog token of any creature you want. The pop out style isn't for everyone but from my experience the majority of people enjoy it. Only a few creatures extend far beyond the frame and those are ones that maybe deserve to be a bit more imposing or visually exciting I think.

Few notes based on my understanding of things:

1. the module is only available on foundry and requires a foundry license to download.
2. The module was developed by Foundry staff via their partnership with Paizo. Paizo did not produce this (only selling it on behalf of Foundry), and Roll20 would not be able to use this in any capacity.

As fryguy said, it would be on Roll20 to create something like this. Which is pretty unlikely to happen since they already have Bestiary 1-3 for sale at $50 each for statblocks+tokens.

I work on the AP premium modules which have similar style tokens for certain monsters. Not every monster will have the art extending out of the ring. In many cases it is still within their grid. And for the ones that do extend beyond, generally GM's seem to be enjoying it from the feedback I see on the AP premium modules. It really adds a bit of visual immersion to the scene that you lose if everything is restrained to their token.

I also said it in another comment but also keep in mind that pf2e in foundry you are able to cycle the token order (z-axis) by pressing Z while hovered over the token. So even if art extends past their grid, you will be able to keep tokens visible.

From the preview stream this past weekend, they didn't confirm something was being worked on, but did say that it would be a possibility depending on how well this sells. Stuff like NPCs/Ancestry pack, monsters from the rulebooks/lost omen books/etc were some things that were thrown out as ideas.

So hopefully we'll see something!

I can't speak on the AP piece. But I hope for that too!

Well.... considering this product is only available for Foundry might i suggest a couple modules? Specifically

Token Mold - By default adds an English language adjective from the dictionary but can be set to a random number to any token you dragon onto the board, so you'd have Skeleton Warrior 2, Skeleton Warrior 36, Skeleton Warrior 5 and Skeleton Warrior 21)
Tokenizer - Let's you easily edit a sheets Character Art / Token. Specifically for token you can add remove image, background and FRAME.

If you think that some Patreon, which will take years to get to the same number of tokens and along the way you'll splash your subscription on Star Wars, anime slimes and cyberpunk tokens that have no use in Pathfinder, is a better value proposition, it's not.

It's not just the art you're paying for here. It's the time spent compiling the art (especially for those things that didn't have art in the Bestiary, they went through every other Pathfinder product to find art for some of these). It's the time spent editing the art so that it looks good in the tokens. The frame breaks take time and effort to accomplish. It's the automatic mapping of the tokens to your compendiums, something that was a pain to do for individual monsters. What you're paying for is your time spent as a GM. The less time I spend on tokens, the more time I can spend on stuff that is more important to my game like integrating backstories and remaking maps.

This will not update tokens already on the world. This change the compendium, and thus, the tokens created from draging from the compendium AFTER the installation.

the files will be in your foundry /data/modules/pf2e-tokens-bestiaries folder you can make a shortcut to that folder if that is what you want.

Within foundry you can use the compendium browser to look at the monsters, or you can use a module like Quick Insert to quickly pull the monster you need into your game.

Then there are some modules, like Filepicker Improvements, that let you create a shortcut within the foundry file browser.

It isn't clear to me but you may be promoting what's called a "hit-and-run" and while there isn't anything strictly against this when a content creator puts their files up in this manner, it is generally frowned upon and NOT the intent of the creator for someone to pay $5, download all the patreon assets, and quit the patreon subscription.

If you look at something like 2 Minute tabletop, there is nothing stopping someone from doing that, but their website also has an "Everything" purchase that puts a price on what they value their assets at when combined all together. Spoiler-- it is many times more than their $4 monthly patreon subscription.

The work that clearly went into making this as a digital product, along with the quality and sheer quantity of the art, is easily worth twice as much. $10? Do you live on the same planet as me? I live in a developing country and this still seems unbelievably cheap for what it is.

I suppose all their premium modules should be $5 too, since they come from previously sold book format products?

And to add to this:

Their current timeline for Kingmaker is "Q2 of next year", so could release as late as early June ("Q2" usually ends on June 3).
And then they would need to work on that other pack, so IF they do work on another token pack after that, it would be safe to guess about it releasing around Q3, or more realistically, Q4.
Reminder that the "team" working on this, excluding commissioned artists for extra arts and the remade maps, is basically, 2 or 3 people? And I don't think they work full time on these projects.
(I'm not affiliated with Foundry or the PF2 Foundry system volunteer team, just a fan following their communications closely, so the details here could be wrong.)

EDIT: There was also demand for a "Fist of the Ruby Phoenix" module in the same vein as the Abomination Vault one, and I think that's the same "team" that did them, so they might get enlisted to work on FotRP instead.

That's not market price, lol. How many months of subscription are you assuming to support this person? Because if it's only one or two to get the packs and leave, oof, very bad form. Not only that, but it says in his bio that his patreon isn't to make money, it's to get a little extra support while he primarily makes maps and tokens for free.

How about other actual businesses, such as other VTTs?

You're also clearly ignoring the amount of art that wasn't already in the bestiaries, or the rest of the work they put into the tokens, like adding proper transparency to the ones that come out of their frames. Not only visual transparency where it makes sense, but also still being able to interact with player and other tokens underneath those overhanging images, so there's no loss of functionality.
