Bloom and Doom!

When a stuffy noblewoman decides that leshys make for pretty centerpieces for her fancy tea party, she has no idea what sort of trouble she's stirring up. Not every plant in the forest wants to be put on display, and some of them are more than well-equipped to fight for those who are plucked from their homes!

In A Fistful of Flowers, you take on the role of one of four unique leshys—plants who have been granted sapience and wills of their own. When new sproutlings are snatched out of the woods and taken away to civilization, it's up to your band of furious flowers and pugilistic plants to set things right!

A Fistful of Flowers is a short adventure for 3rd-level characters that takes a band of leshy heroes out of the forest and into that most dangerous of locations—an aristocrat's fancy tea party. In addition, the four pregenerated characters provide a quick way to jump into the adventure right away in this exciting offering for Free RPG Day! Grab some dice and some friends and play the role of the forest's newest heroes!

A Fistful of Flowers is sanctioned for use in Pathfinder Society Organized Play. The rules for running this Adventure and Chronicle sheet are available as a free download (893 KB PDF).

More fun than expected

4/5

Took us 2.5 hours to complete. After an initial read through I was kinda skeptical, but in play it turned out to be flexible in how the encounters could be resolved, also partly due to the available spells.

I don't think the way the deer encounter was designed (complex hazard) worked really well. It all just read like it should have been creatures instead. The consumables given out were also a bad choice: the barkskin potions actively harmed the PCs and because of the indirection, were more difficult to figure out as the GM.

It's good but does not reach We Be Goblins unfortunately.

Wonderful adventure for new and old players

5/5

I loved it! Ran it three times and I can't wait to run it again.
Its been very popular with new players, especially female players liked the premise and I've had a blast realizing how cool the scenario actually is!
First of all, just helping players get into "being a walking member of flora" was fun. I've printed out pictures so each player could always see how others look like and being different from humanoids was also a great change for roleplay. Even tho its a bit railroady, each segment is a mini sandbox.

Stuff I learned: (not spoilers)
Popcorn is actually a snapdragon flower and the little creepy flail she has is actually dried up snapdragon flowers, not actual skulls.

I've also translated all the names to my native language (Croatian)and that made the adventure even more fun. never knew that much about flowers before.

(kinda spoilers)
One thing that bugged be about the last encounter was the fact the enemies are leshy until one player pointed out all of them are actually invasive species so that helped in setting up the scene. As with people, there are all kinds of leshy and not all of them are well meaning.

Tips for GMs:
you'll have to prepare character sheets better. casters will need spell lists with informations (easy tool PF2 was immense help, got that sorted in just a few minutes).
Also descriptions of individual feats and things are needed.
Popcorn lacks dragon instinct powers (or i'm that blind and didn't find them)
Its a bit of work but its well worth it for overall experience.. and repeated play

I'd LOVE to buy the minis

So yeah, as far as I'm concerned, my favorite scenario at the moment

Lots of fun until the last encounter

4/5

I played this and had a lot of fun.

On the bright side, the PC pregens have personality and are fun to play, the combats are a bit easy which is a good idea for an introductory adventure, the setting is fun and you all get to play Leshies :-).

But the final encounter is just awful

Spoiler:

Suddenly, the group of Leshies has to fight some Leshies for absolutely no good reason (she couldn't hire mercenaries?). The PCs are all pretty pissed off at this time (as we should be. Our "children" have been kidnapped), we have a barbarian in our group, and we're expected to talk with the evil slaver ? Not going to happen.

We just wanted to attack the Lady but she had no stats so that wasn't an option. Instead we were forced to fight our fellow leshies. That really, really sucked

I can't wait for the sequel: "For a Few Flowers More" and the thrilling conclusion: "The Gourd, The Plant and the Cacti"

So... is that a 'Dandy-Lion' (dandelion) leshy taking on a 'Mysteria' (wisteria) leshy?

:D

And now the picture has me wondering if Leshy are an invasive species when they travel abroad. :>

I'll be running this at my FLGS on free rpg day, the day the physical copy is released. Is it possible to get PDFs of the character sheets a day or two ahead so I can print out to have for players at my tables?

No. We are contractually obligated to not release it early except under certain circumstances. May we have the maps needed? Or will it be custom maps?

The Free RPG adventures are always custom maps. Sometimes the gaming store that hosts can give their GMs a copy of the Free RPG day adventure a few days ahead of Free RPG Day to allow you some prep time.

I GMed this for PaizoCon. I will be posting the custom minis I drew for this early on the day of Free RPG Day (probably as it strikes midnight) so that other GMs could print them and glue them on to card stock early that morning. Come back to this thread and look for the post then.

Hmm

Yes, the physical copies will be available at participating stores on Free RPG Day, June 25. Paizo is able to sell them 1 month later, in late July.

This event is all about retail stores. We encourage GMs who want to create a better player experience to go into the store and ask for early copies to more fully prep for the event. Use the event to build relationships.

Happy Free RPG Day!

It is now 1:39AM UTC time for Free RPG Day, so I am sharing my Fistful of Flowers Minis. Note: one of the pregens has an figurine of power of an onyx dog. I did not draw that onyx dog, so you might want a black bead or bring your own dog mini in case it is activated.

You can print these, paste them to card stock, and cut them out. This includes the minis for pregens and all the NPCs. Happy GMing!

It definitely was a fun adventure. I did have to make a character sheet for the 'karen' at the end of the adventure as the party was adamant on wanting her dead. XD Thank you for the Free RPG.

Will you be putting up any remaining print versions of this book (and the Starfinder one, too) for sale? The local store here finally decided to no longer participate in Free RPG Day, thus eliminating the last actual thing they were any good for.

There was a comment above saying they can sell them late July. They have never in previous years listed them, as far as I recall, in the store until that date they can sell them.

I believe our webstore has this product set to go live on Wednesday with the other new releases. The PDF will be a free download and the print version will be available for purchase.

Demiplane has A Fistful of Flowers available for free now.

If you are running with players who are pf2 savvy or who you pre-print all the abilities that are very much glossed over in the stat blocks, it takes about 3-3.5 hours with moderate levels of roleplay. Add several hours for brand new folk because things like damage from rage are not written in and you'll have to figure it out, plus the normal telling them how the rules work with actions and reactions and such.

Good to have some free rpgday 2022 Leshy adventurin' stuff out there for PF2e. ;)

Heya Heya, is Reaching Rings intended to be Encumbered (6.4/5 Bulk) and run clumsy or has penalty-free access to all their equipment at 10 strength?
