A ragtag band of gunslinging outlaws get their hands dirty in the greasy alleyways and whisky-soaked saloons of Alkenstar, the City of Smog. To get revenge on the mogul who destroyed them, the renegades will have to stick up an illicit bank, foil a crooked shieldmarshal, and escort a reclusive inventor to safety. All the while, countless rough-and-tumble rivals aim to waylay the party and seize the inventor's latest concoction: pyronite, an explosive substance with the potential to change the face of the world. In a city where the clockwork guards are literally as tough as brass, the antiheroes will need true grit to dole out overdue justice.

Punks in a Powderkeg is a Pathfinder adventure for four 1st-level characters. This adventure begins the Outlaws of Alkenstar Adventure Path, a three-part monthly campaign in which a band of outlaws unravel an explosive criminal plot in the heart of the City of Smog, Alkenstar. This adventure also includes a gazetteer of the characters' home saloon; new feats, items, and rules options perfect for gunslingers, gearheads, and grenadiers; and new steampunk creatures and mutant monsters to befriend or bedevil your players.

Great visuals and amazing VTT Support

Paizo and PF2E are setting the bar for roleplaying on VTT

Beautiful maps and encounters, supporting journals, NPC art and encounters ready to play.

More fun, less prep. Great work!

Great production, makes everything SO easy!

5/5

This module comes with some fantastic visual presentation of the text that's pretty easy to navigate rather than flipping through the PDF. But of course, the main feature are the maps. They're fantastically recreated and it's great having tokens for all the NPCs! IMO this is a must if you're running the AP through Foundry.

I'm also happy about the module being supported through update patches. At release, the Alkenstar city map was upside down and missing labels, but has since been improved greatly. I was also missing a map from chapter 3 which has been added. Very glad to be able to receive fresh updates to my campaign's maps without having to do anything!

My only complaint at the moment is that many of the NPCs' stat blocks list them with the wrong ancestry trait, which looks weird when you mystify them (e.g. kinda annoying to mystify a goblin and have their name rendered as 'Human') but it's not a big deal.

Hi there!

Foundry VTT staff here.

Forge uses a cached CDN for their Bazaar which only updates for new package listings a limited number of times daily. You may need to manually install the module using this url:

https://cdn.paizo.com/foundry/modules/pf2e-ap178-punks-in-a-powderkeg/modul e.json

Hope this helps!

Absolutely brilliant!!

I just purchased this and it's absolutely incredible. I feel like I'm walking through a super fancy theme part of the thoughts in my head. Each map I open, each area description, it all is done with such a loving and expert touch.

Though I wrote this several months ago, getting to see it in full color, and a fantastic sound design complete with ambient sounds, is bringing it all back to life for me. The locations, the characters, the silliness, and the dark moments... they all live and breathe in this VTT. I'm absolutely flabergasted.

My plan wasn't to run this AP, but after seeing the majesty of this product, and how easy it is to just... run a game... I am seriously considering it.

If you're running this online, or have access to a digital display for your in-person group, you should ABSOLUTELY consider getting this. Not only is it going to save you dozens of hours of prep time, but the result is what you would get if you spent hundreds of hours crafting this experience.

This looks really good.

Bought it earlier today, and not only is the vtt module stunning, the actual adventure is one of the best I've read in a very long time! Fantastic job!

Well I don't really like using foundry, but price being just 7 dollars on top of pdf is making me consider it :'D This is also great AP volume from what I can tell

It looks spectacular!

First of all, congrats!

Then, I'd also like whole-heartedly endorse the practice of in-person play with FoundryVTT on the GMs laptop + one monitor to show the players. Since I started doing that it has completely overhauled my experience at the table and multiplied the fun exponentially. I don't think I'd ever go back to not using that xD
I even adopted the system for my other non-Paizo games that maybe don't have such a strong system support on Foundry. It's still well worth the small hassle for me.

Is this an appropriate place to report bugs/issues with the module? I can't seem to use "Send E-mail" button on the module support section of the Foundry module.

I like my PDFs, but for an extra $7, I can also get the entire volume pre-made in Foundry? Which is where I planned to run it anyways?

This is a no-brainer purchase, best of both worlds. I've picked up Guns and Gears and Book of the Dead through Demiplane for similar reasons - if having the PDF copies as part of other platforms' purchases is the plan going forward, that makes me a happy consumer, and gets two very enthusiastic thumbs up from me.

Foundry Technical question:

Spoiler:

I noticed on Widgetworks Warehouse there appears to be multiple layers in the map. Is there a minimum list of Modules needed to get the best experience from these maps?

Guys, I love it! But... Audio is too low. Even turning the volume to maximum I can't hear most of the sound effects and ambience musics.

Pakishi wrote:

My understanding is that these modules have been designed to work with the core functionality….ie no modules are needed to run them as designed/intended. I haven’t seen anything mentioned specifically, but you might want to check out the Foundry Discord and subReddit channels.

You can turn up the individual sounds and the overall as separate controls, not sure if you had used both but wanted to ensure you knew.

Thank you for writing this wonderful module. I ran my groups first session and we had so much fun with it. Additionally thank you to everyone involved with assembling this module, it works so well, I almost cried a little when enemies automatically calculated flanking, I didn't know it could do that.

The automatic flanking is one of the most recent updates to the PF2 system! EVERY combat, be them homebrew of from any adventure module, will have this feature. :P

And this is all made by volunteers on their free time!
So yes they deserve all the thanks. :P
(Just to note that the work done on the actual premium modules is paid, so there's no exploitation of labor here. Only the free system is community developped. Just to make sure I don't cause a big misunderstanding)

Hi there,
Awesome module and I am eager to run it soon. !! I have a few question ?
Is there a place where we can follow your release roadmap as I have noticed a few issues
- When the module is activated, the bestiary compendium doesn't load
- The Map of alkenstar has no point of interest (unlike Otari in the begginner box).
- I would like to find a way to add french translation of descriptions that would be persistant accross upgrade, how could I achieve this (this is somehow important as it helps in fluid GM of the game)

Thank you and I hope that you will continue produce more and more modules over the initial RoadMap. I am buying all modules to help this :-)

Alkenstar points of interest are in the free Player's Guide.

French translations can be provided based on the Community Use Policy if they are free to the community.

From what i saw it's a great work. Good maps, sounds, tokens all is good except one thing. It's expensive. I don't need a free pdf, i only need module for Foundry.

As the module basically includes the PDF you need to buy it either way.

Yeah, in reality you're only paying $7 to have the contents of the .PDF converted to a ready-to-play VTT module, with high-quality maps, music and tokens made for the VTT specifically. That's $7 to save you hours upon hours of work to do that all yourself. And to me, that's well worth the price of admission.

To supplement what Ezekieru said, based on what I gathered from different sources and discussions:

The people doing the VTT content only get the "extra" 7$ on top of the PDF's value. So when you buy it, Paizo collect the PDF's value and send the rest to the developers of the module. If you already own the PDF, Paizo don't ask you to buy it again and let you only pay the value that will be sent to Foundry.

Too bad paizo doesn’t manage to sell to Europe in a decent way. Would have liked to use this with the subscriptions, but with paizo shipping and botching of VAT etc. that is regrettably not a viable option. Still might buy the PDF for some paths …. but regrettable that the model mainly serves one market.

These are a nifty new product to bring to market. I haven't bought one yet, but I am running Abomination Vaults using the fan-made maps that are already walled and lit and it has sped up as well as increased my groups enjoyments.

Do you get discounts on PDFs or VTT modules if you own a Paizo online store bought copy of the book?

The Paizo Advantage API only syncs with PDF purchases.

When will this get the update to Foundry v10? The other premium modules got their updates a week ago, but I can't find anything for the Outlaws adventures.

Right now you can't even load the adventures in v10.

The company Sigil manages the Foundry modules for Outlaws of Alkenstar and Blood Lords, and they're slated to be updated to V10 by the end of September. Until then, the modules won't be able to be imported into any V10 version. You'd need to have it made already in a V9 version, and then upgrade to V10 (and even then, the journals will be very messy in comparison to just sticking to V9).

Running a group through this now. It’s overall excellent; and the additional gearpunk UI elements and excellent organization make it stand out even from prior foundry adventures.

That said, there are a couple slight negatives, and a moderate problem I’ve noticed (I’m about 1/3 through, running it as a GM.)

Slight negatives: Compared to the beginner box foundry and the AV AP foundry, the art of the maps is noticeably lower quality. It looks kinda like standard drag-n-drop tiles, whereas the prior ones (to me) looked quite unique and detailed. Still good— just not quite as good. Also, there are a few scenes where there are a lot of non-combatant NPCs described to be standing around. None show up as tokens or tile art in the mod. (This may be standard, but it’s a bit frustrating to be describing a busy street or camp or saloon when the map looks nearly empty.)

And then, the problem: So far, I’ve used two maps for the combats; and both had bits that didn’t match the book’s description. I didn’t check every one against the maps in the book, but I did notice, on both maps there is key labeling in the book that isn’t in the foundry mod. On scene in particular references an X on the map —and it’s important to know where that is—but there’s no X on the foundry version. The other has building missing, as well as a sign indicating directionality to the next scene —again, pretty important.

Overall, still excellent, *incredibly* fun, and *so* worth the purchase. But fixing the above would make it both a better adventure, *and* make it more consistent with other pf2 foundry releases.

Hi, this product is currently unavailble to me. This seems to be the case for the other 2 installations of this for the foundry code (1. https://paizo.com/products/btq02dsm?Pathfinder-Adventure-Path-179-Cradle-of -Quartz and 2. https://paizo.com/products/btq02dwb?Pathfinder-Adventure-Path-180-The-Smoki ng-Gun). I however do not have this issue for your other products to purchase foundry codes, such as Abomination Valts (https://paizo.com/products/btq02dso?Pathfinder-Adventure-Path-Abomination- Vaults/). I would appreciate it if I am able to puchase this products, as I have been told by a Foundry associate that the "add to cart" button that is unavailable to me is available to them https://discord.com/channels/170995199584108546/700806767910846634/10215181 65659897957. Hi, I contacted you earlier this evening. You can ignore that, as it was a mistake on my part. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Overall I'd say I am content with this product but due to the fact that a majority of the named NPC's were just set to default commoners and that two of the named NPC were simply not included, I am left disappointed.
I also would have liked if the module included the token ring used by the NPCs, I thought that looked cool.

The Sigil Discord is a good place to get support

My first thought is to check - are you using v9 or v10 of Foundry? The Sigil modules haven't been updated for v10 yet, but it's imminent.

Where do we go to report editing problems and bugs, not anything wrong with Foundry, just missing text / duplicated text, or other kinds of errors? I'm not sure if this should go in an email to Paizo or to Sigil or to both?
