Best available Foundry module I used so far

5/5

I had a chance of running the Beginner Box without this Foundry module and with it, and I have to tell that it is totally worth the price (especially if you have any discounts). The module not only has the adventure, tokens, etc, as expected, but add additional value in the form of music and ambience, special sound effects based on specific rules.

Another big selling point as that this is not only the excellent Beginner Box content, perfect for teaching new players the PF2 rules, but also a great introduction to Foundry itself, with many tips and guidelines for a new GM in a virtual platform environment.

Foundry is not my current main VTT, but this is a 5 star product and I fully recommend it.

Amazing Implementation

5/5

The Foundry implementation is absolutely amazing. Ran both the upper and lower floors on BBDay for 2 groups of new players. Seemless experience. Full lighting, walls, redone maps that are great, sound effects, and even macros to replace elements of the map when players interact with them. Also full roof layers and all of this without needing any 3rd party mods (although it plays with everyone I use just fine).

Prep was basically nil. Read the Journal entries (all of which are nicely formatted) and you'll be good to start running it for people in less than 15 minutes.

If this is what is going to be the case moving forward for all the APs I cannot wait to explore what Paizo and Foundry have in store for us.

Highly recommended.

Hands down the best tutorial for Pathfinder and Foundry VTT

I have been using Foundry VTT for over a year for my Pathfinder 2e campaigns. The implementation of the system is hands down one of the best I have seen in any VTT and one of the top systems in Foundry.
I had been using the PDF to Foundry module to import the adventure PDFs I get from being a subscriber, and it does a good job on reducing the preparation effort needed as a GM.

When I heard that Paizo was partnering with Foundry to release premium content officially I was really excited about it. Especially because it didn't involve putting OGL content behind a paywall as happens on other VTTs.
The fact that Paizo didn't want to change the direction the system has been implemented by Foundry's great community of volunteer developers and instead wanted to provide additional value by selling premium modules intrigued me.

I was definitely not disappointed when I purchased this product. It certainly delivers top quality content that is worth every penny. In fact, considering that you can get a discount if you already own the PDF buying this was a no brainer.

You get the same great adventure to introduce new players to the game that you will get from the physical box or the PDF, but on top of that you get:
- Great maps using Forgotten Adventures assets made by Narchy who has been releasing several modules already of redone versions of Paizo adventures. I personally have done quite a few redone maps for my Age of Ashes campaign using those
same assets and Dungeondraft among other things. These ones are even better than the ones I can create myself, without spending the time to do so, and they come already walled, with light sources, overhead tiles and all the bells and whistles that make FoundryVTT what it is: the best looking VTT experience out there nowadays, for PF2E or any other system.
- Great tokens. You get tokens for the iconics in the beginner box, generic tokens for human, dwarf and elf heroes of different classes, and for all the monsters included in the Beginner Box, not only the creatures from the Menace Under Otari
adventure, but all those mentioned in the mini bestiary section on the game master book.
- Soundtrack and sound effects from Syrinscape library
- Macros to make dynamic changes on the map for certain scenes like replacing a barricade with a destroyed version and playing a sound for it.
- Beatifully looking Journal Entries for the entire adventure that not only include the content from the beginner box but also make a good job of being a tutorial for using Foundry for those that are new to the software.

I'm just blown away for all the value you get out of this product and it's definitely worth every penny! I can't wait for Abomination Vaults to receive a similar treatment next month or the new Adventure Paths that are also heading to Foundry in a few days.
The bar has been set very high but if they manage to keep it there I'll keep on buying all of them. And you should too!

Saves so much time

5/5

I highly recommend this product. It really allows for you to significantly cut down your prep time and focus on other things. A must have for any DM that uses Foundry VTT.

Fantastically made.

5/5

I've ran the beginner box three times on Foundry.
The first time I entered all the maps from the PDF myself as PDFtoFoundry hadn't supported them yet.
The second I used the ones created by PDFtoFoundry.

And last weekend I ran it with this module. And I must say, WOW, I'm super impressed.

I consider myself a Foundry enthusiast and I still was surprised at how some things were handled.
The newly designed maps with roof layers look amazing and add an entire new value to this product you can't really get on your own by importing the PDF.

The only critique I have is it seems like not all the sounds from the Syrinscape pack were included. I felt like I was missing some music for combat (which I added myself afterwards).

There was also some minor mistakes in some character's equipment. Such as the Skeletons wielding Scimitars, the Trapmaster only having a single Snare and many of the Kobolds not having the Eggshell necklace (and dried fish).

But these issues are minor and don't really detract from the 5/5 stars.

Fantastic product. 10/10.
They really succeeded at adding value for a product you may already own.

We know the discounts aren't always applying where they should and we're working on getting that resolved.
Fixed already?

I have seen no internal communication that the issues have been identified or resolved. We will provide updates when we have them. Thank you for your patience and patronage.

Thank you again, and keep up the great work!

The iconics are part of base PF2E system. You should have no trouble importing them from the compendium named 'Iconics' and giving them to one of your players. You may want to adjust the encounters by adding 1-2 NPCs if you want to keep the difficulty the same.

/

Guess my brain was in slowpoke mode. Thanks for the info, there are so many compendiums in the Foundry module it is a little overwhelming tbh.

My year plus 5e game doesn't even come close XD

FYI there's rules for balancing encounters for extra players here: https://2e.aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=497

But fwiw, my newbie group ran it with 5 PCs without changing anything and it wasn't excessively easy

Will the $5 discount be extended if the owning the PDF $15 discount doesn't get fixed by the original expiration date?

If you don't want to wait until this issue gets resolved and buy it before that can we expect a refund for the discounted price when it is? I had scheduled a session and don't want to wait and potentially miss the other discount.

Looking through the Module in Foundry VTT and it is not Pulling up Monster Sheets when you double click on the monster npc. Is there a different way to get the NPC stats that I'm just not figuring out?

If you're the GM, clicking on an NPC token or their listing under the actors tab should open an NPC sheet.

Any update on providing the missing PDF? I haven't yet seen this acknowledged as an issue yet and want to make sure it hasn't been missed.

We continue to investigate and resolve the tech issue. We will post when we have clarity regarding it, the discount, and any associated refunds. I want to communicate with the tech tech and the customer service teams before making a recommendation. Thank you for your patience and patronage.

I hope the issue is fixed soon. That's all I'm waiting for to purchase this. :) I'd purchase now if we get confirmation that I'd get a refund for the price of the PDF I already own.

Seems like some awesome work. :)

Hi
New to PF, not to Foundry. This seemed like an easy way to try something new without too steep a learning curve. So thanks & well done. The pf2e system in Foundry has been implemented way better than 5e.

Question/suggestion:
Have you looked into what is involved with getting the module (and in particular future adventure paths) fully into the Forge Bazaar?

While the process isn't difficult, another advantage (to Forge users) is that modules purchased/installed through the Bazaar don't count toward the cloud storage limit. Installing it took me over the limit, although I was able to delete a couple of older worlds to free some space so it was okay.

If the issue is the Forge Bazaar taking a cut of the purchase (I don't know how it works but I assume they do?) then I'd be happy paying the difference (i.e. if the price on the forge was a couple of bucks more). It'd work out cheaper in the long run than moving to the next subscription level.

Alternatively I could just host it elsewhere. I like the convenience of the Bazaar though, and would miss it.

To clarify, the $5 sale comes from Foundry and it is their call as to extend. The $5 discount through the 25th is applying correctly. The discount that isn't applying consistently is the discount equal to the PDF price if you already own the PDF.

Feel free to make purchase now or at a later date. Our Customer Service can offer credits to make it right.

If you have added your BB to your Foundry account, then it shows up on the Forge Bazaar as an installable premium module. I just checked and mine is there. :)

Not a Forge user myself but someone shared this: premium content counts against storage limit.

Personally, if you're within 305mb of your storage limit then IMO you probably should look into adding additional storage either directly through the Forge, through cloud storage, or, hosting your own server. I say this because if 305mb is what puts you over then this you're going to be having this issue again and again and again.

They're still working on it guys. Worst case scenario, you'll have to contact support and possibly end up recieving credits, as mentioned above. There's still no official decision as of yet that we've heard, as the current $5 off is from Foundry's deal, not the discount for owning the PDF previously.

Worst case scenario, I got it. But I just don't want spend time contacting them and waiting for a coupon or don't know what :)
For now, the price changes between 5$ and 10$ but always 24.99$ when I want to proceed.
Let's wait a bit more :)

Did the $5 discount go away? I thought the promotion was going through the 25th.

Who remade the maps?

It seems they used assets from Forgotten Adventures. The quality is amazing. I'm very impressed.

It looks like it's gone now. I was busy this weekend and didn't get the chance to capitalize on it. Oh well. At least the bug is worked out for future releases.

Seems the discount issue is resolved. Can we expect a fix to the PDF not being available to purchasers of the module, as advertised?

Great module, amazing production quality, the best I’ve seen on FoundryVTT! I’ve two players in my game who want run sessions of their own after playing this. One migrating from another VTT and the other starting a game in real-world.

This sets a high bar for PF2E and I’m excited to purchase the announced releases. Please sir, may I have some more? official bestiaries tokens?

I need some help with the lighting on the dungeon scenes for this set. When I load the scene, the darkness looks correct. However, when any time passes on the world clock, the scene brightens to daylight and all of my players can see as if the world were lit. I do not want to disable rules-based lighting if possible, due to all of its other benefits. Are there any solutions to this?

The production quality on this is amazing. Very well done.

As I'm preparing to run Menace under Otari for my group I noticed a small inconsistency. The description for Room 3 (The Spider's Web) says "Patches of glowing blue fungus cling to the ceiling and provide dim light" but the map has no light sources for this room.

Okay, so I bought this. Cost me $15.00, $15 off the list price. Well, $14.99. Is that the correct price given that I already own the Beginner Box, both physical and pdf?

BTW, having difficulties getting to the discord. That link upthread, the invite has apparently expired. Tried from the Foundry website, but I have *one* email address and I've already used that for an existing discord account. I put that email address into the signup from the Foundry site, and it tells me that email is already in use and won't let me proceed further. Any idea how I can fix that?

The price seems correct, at leats that's the same price I paid. The PDF is 14.99$ and the full Price for the module is 29.99$, so 29.99-14.99 = 15$

This should be a permanent invite:

You could get more specialized help on that discord server.
(Discord accounts and Foundry accounts are different things btw. The account on the FoundryVTT site is for holding your licenses.)

Yeah, Discord links with the browser version when you're not already logged in can be buggy and not let you try to log in if you already have an account.

Dumb Noob question here.

I am new to Pathfinder. And Foundry. And modern RPGs really.

I purchased the full physical beginner box off of Amazon. Do I need to purchase the Foundry module separately to use Foundry with it? If not, how do I get it?
