A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for 3rd- through 6th-level characters.

In the city of Oppara, the Pathfinder Society has been investigating a recent crime spree that targeted the assets and allies of Grand Princess Eutropia, Taldor’s new monarch who came to power following the War for the Crown. The Society has learned of the group responsible for these crimes, but it has more work to do if it’s going to untangle the web of deception and get to the heart of the treasonous conspiracy. Gloriana Morilla, a trusted ally and former Pathfinder leader, has concocted a plan to draw out the Society’s enemies. For her plan to work, she’s going to need agents who are willing to take some risks, as there’s no telling what sinister forces might be responsible for the recent crimes in Oppara.

The plan starts like this: first, try to flee the city… but make sure they see you doing it!

Escape from Oppara is part of the ongoing Taldor metaplot arc in the Year of Shattered Sanctuaries. It is the second and final scenario in the arc, which began with Pathfinder Society Scenario #3-11: No Time for Treason. While playing the previous scenario enhances the narrative of this two-part story arc, it is not required.

Action packed conclusion of the arc

    Played this in high tier.
Interesting premise, fun skill challenge, diverse encounters (last one was a complete surprise).
My only note is that Muesello seems to not be fleshed out at all. Perhaps those who met him in pf1 can relate more but for me it was hard. His motivations for doing what he did are not well explained and in the end the situation remains mostly unresolved.
In fact, the character could be removed completely and it wouldn't change a thing. So while mechanically it's a strong scenario, narratively it falls short compared to the rest of season 3.

As I'm prepping this scenario I've got to say I'm very excited to run it. The plot is well thought out, there's plenty of action, opportunities for role-play, and great skill checks. A very well-rounded adventure indeed! And who doesn't look forward to using the Red-Light District Flip-Mat?

The one thing that bugs me is the new art for Lady Glorianna Morilla. I understand that the characters from 1st edition are being redrawn, reimagined, etc. But this one, I'm not liking. Just my pair of coppers, but I plan on using the old art I have in my presentations.

However, the rest of the scenario is FANTASTIC! From the first encounter's structure to the last encounter's monsters. I plan to do a full review after I run it this weekend and see how my players tear into it. I'm looking forward to running more of Brent's scenarios.

I believe there is a major error on a skill challenge:

The DC's for the pursuit are very low and it seems like they put the target numbers for a 1-4 instead of a 3-6. DC 18 for high tier is the DC for a level 3 target. My run got over 100% pursuit points when the target is 60%,

(and not major error - it just seems like a simple numerical mistake. The scenario is fire)

Does this scenario have anything in common with Escape from New York, or is the similarity in title just a coincidence?
