Starfinder's original campaign returns in a new six-adventure hardcover compilation! When a fragment of an ancient alien superweapon surfaces in the depths of hyperspace, its discovery sets off a race to find the extraterrestrial doomsday device. Hopping from planet to planet in the Pact Worlds and beyond, the heroes must contend with both the undead Corpse Fleet and the nihilistic Cult of the Devourer, each of which seeks to acquire the alien artifact for its own purposes. Can the heroes find and destroy the superweapon before their enemies seize control of it, or will the Pact Worlds' sun go dark and cold, a harbinger of dead suns across the galaxy?

Starfinder's very first campaign explodes onto the pages of this massive hardcover compilation, containing all six adventures in the Dead Suns Adventure Path, a galaxy-spanning campaign that helped launch the Starfinder RPG, along with support articles, rules, monsters, and more!

The Dead Suns Adventure Path is sanctioned for use in Starfinder Society Organized Play. The rules for running this Adventure Path and Chronicle sheet are available as a free download (5.5 MB PDF).

I do assume cover is placeholder, but I still find it funny that huntmaster Xavra is there as third bad guy considering other two faction leaders are far more important to plot than he is xD (he is pretty deadly though)

But yeah huh. I wonder if there are updates to this one or maybe roll20 support. Would be nice if they can work out some of the original's railroady elements.

That's interesting.

I also secretly hope they expand some of npcs with npc articles to give them more depth :'D But I do think entire new pages are unlikely (unless book doesn't include any of the original extra articles unrelated to ap itself)

This hits me at an awkward moment, since my group's probably 2 sessions from wrapping up Book 1.

Yay! I'll take two!!

I'm surprised, but this is neat to see.

Hopefully since I already have six books physically so justification to buy this might be hard :'D

It used to be that Paizo shied away from compilations because of how they impacted subscriptions. It's interesting to see how the business model seems to have shifted. (And nice for me since it makes it easier to catch up on stuff I missed.)

Probably the only Starfinder AP besides Fly Free or Die I and most players had a problem with from time to time. So hoping they do some rewrites to smooth things out a bit more for this one.

Time will tell if I'll get this or stick to the old AP

How to bypass the majority of Starfinder AP #2 in one affordable item.

LOL, I tried GMing 6 different groups on Dead Suns and and most of them were not liking it, and I as well. Though granted I had very hi hopes for the first new AP from (AKA like a Rise of the Runelords from PF I kinda thing).

But they have been getting better with each one for the most part at least :)

In order to set expectations, no, this will be a near reprint with very few changes. This is a product that will appeal to players who are looking to play the AP for the first time, not an expansion for those looking to replay this formative Starfinder Adventure Path.

Likewise, there will not be a PDF update of the existing individual volume PDFs.

Not every AP will get a complication. This is like a victory lap for APs and decided on a case by case basis. Subscribers to the AP line still have the best value: high quality without the wait.

sounds like very skippable book then, unless it gets roll20 release or something

I plan on getting at least 2 for people I know, plus my original copies aren't exactly mint condition anymore... So I'll probably end up getting at least 3 copies.

Sure. The hardcover compilations like Rise of the Runelords, Curse of the Crimson Throne and Kingmaker are more about updating a popular AP for the newest edition of the game. This is more about keeping an AP in stock. Also great for local game stores, libraries, and bringing new players into the Pact Worlds. More "New Player Acquisition" than "Expansion for Fans." Definitely a good one for VTTs to add. Adventures Ahead!

Holy crap! This is ironic considering the Dead Suns campaign I was playing in here on the forums wrapped up last month after nearly three years of play. XD

The Starfinder Adventure Path: Dead Suns compilation is not part of the SF AP Subscription. Subscribers who preorder it will get a complimentary PDF.

Got into Starfinder a little late and originally had no interest in collecting Dead Suns, but I might pick this up, especially if it ends up on Fantasy Grounds.

Realized something: Might we actually get player's guide for Dead Suns with this?

I mean... Dead Suns is one of those aps that actually benefit from player's guide despite being meant for all classes and themes, just because of whole assumption that players want to become starfinders

Paizo was not making Starfinder Player's Guide's when this AP was first written and I am not aware of any material that has been added. (Some was reworked, but not added.)

Here is the back cover text:

A Threat to All Life
When a fragment of an ancient alien superweapon surfaces in the depths of hyperspace, its discovery sets off a race to find the extraterrestrial doomsday device. Hopping from planet to planet in the Pact Worlds and beyond, the heroes must contend with both the undead Corpse Fleet and the nihilistic Cult of the Devourer, each of which seeks to acquire the alien artifact for its own purposes. Can the heroes find and destroy the superweapon before their enemies seize control of it, or will the Pact Worlds’ sun go dark and cold, a harbinger of dead suns across the galaxy? The Dead Suns Adventure Path is a complete campaign that takes starfaring heroes from 1st to 13th level.

Oh right, I forget that starfinder player's guides are actually part of the book rather than extra pdf completely separate frmo ap book

If you have any interest in The Devastation Ark, it ties directly into what's established in Dead Suns. It's not necessary but if you need a 1-16 bridge to get you to TDA then that'd be it, though your group will probably be burnt out on Starfinder as a whole by the time you finish The Devastation Ark. You can see reviews for the Dead Suns modules that I and other people have written.

Yeah I realized belatedly that that's Admiral I've-Got-A-Bone-To-Pick after I went back and looked at DS #6's cover.

Hi Aaron, I know that Kingmaker is coming out as 2E sometime soon, but I did not know there was any release for 2E for Rise of the Runelords or Curse of the Crimson Throne. Am I reading this wrong? I thought there were compilations but that they were Pathfinder 1st Edition compilations.

The Rise and Curse he was talking about updated from 3.5 to PF1. That was the current version of the game at the time.

Preorder placed. I've said before and I'll say again, I'll buy any of these compilations that are released to have a matching shelf of hardbacks.

Is there an option to buy it while also bundling it with the PDF?

Any Hi res maps added and might Roll20 pick this up as well Aaron?

Curious about some of the fixes (yes I know nothing big) but I might be nudged into Gming this for one of my Starfinder groups, given plenty of time and nudges from my players part, LOL

Ran this for 4 different groups when SF first started out and all crashed and burned BIG TIME by mod 2 or 3. Some party/player dynamics, and some just not liking this first offering AP, me included!! I thought it should have been much better as a new system opener, Like say rise of the Runelords was :)

Roll20 is not supporting this adventure yet. That said, we are waiting for them to integrate PDF support in general.

“In the coming weeks, we will add PDF support to Roll20’s VTT, giving GMs and players the ability to upload, read, share, and immediately play using any PDF in the VTT. No need to link anywhere else for your players!!”

Aaron Shanks wrote:

it will have its own PDF.

Forgive my ignorance, but does that mean that the PDF is automatically included when I preorder the book, or that it will be offered later but only as a standalone with no option of bundling the two together (might as well order now), or that there will be a bundle but not at this time (post-poning now will provide the opportunity to buy both later as the bundle, rather than puchasing them both individually at full price)?

I'm going to get it no matter what. I just want to make sure that I get it both as a print copy (because I'm an old man who needs books in print to be able to read them without eye strain) and as a PDF (because I'm an old man who can't carry a duffle bag of 30 books into Gamehole Con and likes to just be able to flash the watermarked PDFs for the GM to prove ownership).

Silver Crusade

The PDF and print will be bought separately is how they do it, though they might give subscribers to the AP line a free pdf if they also order the print copy.

That's a maybe though, not a guarantee.
