Celebrate Paizo’s 20th Anniversary with a glorious new edition of Crown of the Kobold King, the epic original Pathfinder adventure! The town of Falcon’s Hollow is no stranger to peril, yet the danger growing in the dungeons below a nearby ruin pose a threat that only a new band of heroes can face. Ravenous undead, cunning kobolds, and sinister necromancers are but a few of the foes that shall soon menace the small lumber town, yet none are potentially as dangerous as the Kobold King himself!

This deluxe, 128-page hardcover gathers three classic Pathfinder adventures into one unforgettable compilation, expanding them into a mini-campaign and introducing a brand-new dungeon level for heroes to explore. Completely updated to Pathfinder Second Edition, the insidious Kobold King and his minions return to bedevil a new generation of adventurers! Will your heroes save the town of Falcon’s Hollow from the Kobold King, or are they doomed to become the king’s latest trophies?

The Crown of the Kobold King contains:

  • The original adventures Hollow’s Last Hope, Crown of the Kobold King, and Hungry are the Dead, all expanded and updated for use with Pathfinder Second Edition.
  • Over a hundred pages of adventure for 1st to 6th-level parties.
  • A full gazetteer of the lumber town of Falcon’s Hollow.
  • Fifteen new magic items and other new treasures to discover.
  • Eight classic monsters from the original adventures, all brand new to Pathfinder Second Edition.

This adventure can be used with the Pathfinder Flip-Mat: Crown of the Kobold King.

Great Adventure

5/5

Hvaing played most of the recent standalone adventures for PF2, this is handsdown the best so far. The opposition is interesting, with some tougher fights, but very few inescapable and over the top bad guys. The background is detailed, and a number of the details are hilarious without straying into the absurd or ridiculous. Thoroughly recomended.

What a weird coincidence that after a kobold thread was made this pops up haha! Can’t wait to get it. Is it part of the adventure subscription or separate purchase?

I think it's safe to say Paizo isn't doing 1e content anymore.

This one's from well before my time - how did folks like it? It sounds pretty standard/classic fantasy, which isn't necessarily my speed these days.

Wow! I was just looking through my 1e copies of Hollow’s Last Hope and Crown of the Kobold King this week! I even played around with building a few of the villains and NPCs in Pathbuilder. How exciting!

I haven’t played these modules personally, but they do have a very classic frontier-city-in-the-wilderness feel to them. They came out before most of the world of Golarion was released to the public, iirc. Folks coming over from more classic D&D adventures would feel right at home in this adventure, although you can still see Paizo adding their twist to the typical tropes.

Not sure how much polishing they’ll do in this version, but I think this would be ideal for my friends new to Pathfinder.

Well this is a surprise :O I haven't ever read the original ones so I dunno how much of early PF edginess they had, but its finally nice to be able to play these considering how much the "Kobold King" modules kept popping up in various times for me

Sounds awesome, but the number of delays that have hit the Kingmaker update makes me wonder if this will make its date.

Will this be part of the adventures subscription?

This appears to be a regular release from Paizo and not a special, crowdfunded collaboration with another company, nor is this getting released in multiple other systems. I'd expect this book to be as likely to be delayed as any normal subscription release right now, which is to say probably not and not for long if it does.

Yes! Paizo needs to do more 1e conversions for the people that are just now getting into Pathfinder. I want that classic content and relive the good ol' days that I've missed out on!

If we pre-order this will we get the PDF as well?
I am assuming it is not part of any subscription.

I'm curious as they didn't mention the Revenge of the Kobold King. Which I (think?) they're going to use, since it's a lead in for Hungry are the Dead. Unless they decided to drop that entry of the story.

But this is the Darkmoon Vale region, Andoran. Classic Fantasy. Dungeon Crawling.

Well it was a 16 page free frpg day product, but yeah I would hope they don't forget it x'D

I'd be curious about that as well.

Either way, definitely an unexpected surprise!

Man I played the original BitD, this looks a tad bigger!

Probably we will sanction it like all the other adventures that have been released, but I haven't seen it yet so don't quote me on it until we're closer to release date!

Hello!

A few updates:

1) This will actually be a September release; my bad!

2) The regular edition will be part of the subscription line and include the PDF per usual.

3) I'm not in Org Play, but I'm going to go ahead and say everything is sanctioned for everything all the time. (No one tell OP.)

Please note that nothing Mika says is correct, as evidenced by the rest of this post she can't even keep release dates straight and therefore is deeply untrustworthy! She tells only lies and I tell only the truth, the correct path through the maze is this way!

This was unexpected. One of the ideas I've had floating around my head lately was converting Crown of the Kobold King into 2e with a party of poppet pregens that have to go rescue their kids.
Guess that can wait until it's official.

Include Carnival of Tears as well you cowards. Seriously though, happy to see this as these adventures are great and the setting of Darkmoon Vale/Falcon's Hollow have remained one of my favorite places in all of Golarion. I hope these are not edited too much, and are as close as to the originals as possible.

What do you fear could be lost between editions ?

"Fear" is a strong word. I just hope to see the original authors' design and vision are represented with the reboot is all.

I just thought of like 6 characters I would love to play in that kind of game, so, yes, do that.

Ooh, Dark Archive will be released by then! 8 characters.

Oh wow! This is very exciting to see these getting an update. I love that these are all getting streamlined into a campaign. I sincerely hope Revenge of the Kobold King is in here as well. I would be over the moon to see Carnival of Tears incorporated, but it was unconnected to the other four so I understand if it is not included. Also, seeing lots of history and background pulled from Guide to Darkmoon Vale included in the backmatter would not make me sad.

Hollow's Last Hope
Crown of the Kobold King
Revenge of the Kobold King
Hungary are the Dead
Carnival of Tears
Guide to Darkmoon Vale
Towns of the Inner Sea (Falcon's Hollow)

I'm a bit saddened that Revenge of the Kobold King isn't included, but I am all for this!

I re-developed the original text completely. It's got as much polishing (if not more) to update it as I did for things like the hardcovers for Rise of the Runelords and Curse of the Crimson Throne. It's got an entire new level we had Nick Logue write ages ago (when at one point this was gonna be a 1st edition project), and refocuses the three adventures its based on to a new plot entirely that works better as a whole adventure revolving around a multi-level dungeon rather than three separate ones.

The delays that have plagued Kingmaker are not impacting this, which is part of the adventure line, not something extra beyond the normal schedule.
