They did reveal in the Discord that it will have a flaw to Dexterity, though.

I still think it is going to be a golem, animated object, Tsukomogami, or something similar.

/I/ know that they're different, but I still can't imagine they'd want the confusion of Automatons in one book and a different kind of construct in a book pretty soon after.

The 4e girl in me quite likes this idea; they were introduced in the same book as that edition's psionics, and were painted as a people strong in psychic magic.

A Dex penalty eliminates Stheno, which seems to have a Wis penalty. Shame. I was hoping to see them show up soon. Oh well.

Would you argue with a shark if it said it was fine?

It's a general term, Sandpapersona doesn't have the same ring to it.

Also some do (fursona wise anyway)

Ah, from one of the panels today they said it's an Ancestry that hasn't been in Pathfinder or Starfinder before, so that excludes Minotaurs (cause of Nuars).

After watching the panel for Lost Omens, I am starting to think that the new Ancestry in the Grand Bazaar might be Centaurs.

*nods* But sharks don't have scales though. This is why I normally just use Sona.

The only issue with Centaurs is that we have had playable stats for them before, in the Advanced Race Guide.

The new Ancestry is something that has never been playable in either Pathfinder or Starfinder.

That said, Centaurs were straight up deconfirmed in the Discord.

Ah, I had forgotten about that. In that case, I will go back to theorizing about golems, animated objects, Tsukomogami, and such.

I'm sticking with my Stheno assumption. Given that it is an Ancestry we know is coming at some point and the relation the mythological Gorgons (Medusa, Stheno, and Euryale) have to Greekculture and myth, which the Isle of Kortos features a lot of; its what makes the most sense to me personally.

That said, a penalty to Dex doesn't make a lot of sense here, given that Medusa seemingly have a high Dex.

In which case, I suppose Minotaur makes sense. If you ignore the Naur in Starfinder, which are functionally Minotaur but not actually Minotaur, this could be it. Minotaur are one of the most requested Ancestry options. And they could be keeping it close to their chest due to their size, since Large Ancestries are also highly requested.

Other than that, something brand new is also entirely possible. Sticking to Greek myth, maybe Satyr, or their Roman counterpart Faun? Just spit balling. They aren't exactly new, but they haven't been playable.

Since Nuar are medium I don’t know why they’d make a large Minotaur ancestry.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Rulebook, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Naur are a Ancestry of people that didn't exist until sometime much later in Pathfinders history, which is why they are only playable in Starfinder. So Minotaur would be the closest thing to them we would see in Pathfinder.

And, again, they were playable in Starfinder, which automatically bars them as a possibility, since it was said that it would be an Ancestry that has never been playable in either system.

One of the gnoll monsters has an Int mod of -1 even though the gnoll ancestry has a free ancestry boost in Int. So the Stheno is very much still in the running at this point, especially given how many alternative ancestry candidates can be ruled out.

Any news on if this book has been delayed like Guns and Gears?

So were witchwyrds or some variant of them ruled out already?

Rude_ wrote:

Yeah. I think we know two things: they've never been a playable ancestry in anything Paizo has published before, and they have a dex penalty. I might be wrong about the latter... Last weekend was a massive info dump and I'm not all that smart to begin with.

I'm kind of interested in when they intend to address the Ancestry to the public. Likely within the week, most subscribers are going to know what it is. I feel like a blog should come out beforehand for those that won't get the PDF early, so subscribers don't spoil it for folks that would rather it come from Paizo.

Unless we can all agree that we won't talk about it till the street release?

Someone always will. I don't know about here, but the news of a secret ancestry is a big deal that can net you lots of karma on Reddit...

Here's hoping it is revealed by Paizo before it's street date. I'd hate for people to find out in a way they weren't anticipating. I figured they would have done it during Gen Con, but that wasn't the case. Just hope they are cognitive that some people would prefer to hear about it from the horses mouth.

Yeah. It will probably get spoiler-tagged, but that's still a more dull way than most.

I promise to spoiler responsibly. Don't drink and spoil, only you can prevent forum fires, all that good stuff. Spoiler Tags for the win.

Maybe Paizo has heard my prayers for a playable troll ancestry and is delivering them to us, perhaps as a smaller variant like sewer or flood trolls that can pick a feat to grow large later? You never know.

From what I understand, orders that are similar get shipped in batches, and the exact order that batches go out is somewhat randomized so as to not make certain combinations of subscriptions higher priority in the queue every month.

Lost omens must be lower in the queue this month.
